Avatar f tn Due to the potential for severe interaction, concomitant use of atorvastatin, lovastatin, or simvastatin with telaprevir is considered contraindicated. Red yeast rice, which contains lovastatin, should also be avoided during treatment with telaprevir. Fluvastatin, pravastatin, pitavastatin, and rosuvastatin are probably safer alternatives, since they are not metabolized by CYP450 3A4.

Avatar n tn Wow as I read your post I had shivers go down my spine. Marry me but only if I can have my Coke? Sweetie you need to run as fast as you possibly can and now!! Listen I understand that you love this man and I'm sure you want to believe that your love can heal him or make him change but it WON'T happen. I'm a drug addict and let me explain how this works. When I was using I would do whatever it took in order to get my drug.
Avatar m tn I use simvastatin. I stopped taking it for a few weeks, while I had been taking TDF, and my HBV DNA went from UND to 400 IU. Started taking it again and my HBV DNA went back down to UND. Sim reduces HCC risk and also acts synergistically with TDF, increasing the effect.

Avatar m tn Effective in June 2011 the FDA recommends limiting the dose of simvastatin to a maximum dose of 40 mg, with the exception of patients already taking simvastatin 80 mg daily for a period of greater than 12 months who have not developed any myalgia side effects. The FDA make this restriction because at the highest dose of simvastatin 80 mg daily the incidence of serious myopathy was higher than using other available statins.

Avatar m tn Anybody research on simvastatin yet? Simvastatin lower cholesterol, but also affect HBV, because HBV use cholesterol to replicate? I've read the prescription for Simvastatin said that one should be careful to use it if there is active liver disease. IF HBV DNA undetectable, ultrasound normal, blood work normal would be considered active on liver disease?

Avatar m tn Theoretically, in some patients wouldn't this dramatically increase that patient's chance of clearing HBsAG if used with NUC's? If so, then Alinia, perhaps after years of use, might give some people a chance to get rid of the HBV virus and attain immunity. Or do I have this wrong?
Avatar m tn I also have both high cholesterol and high blood pressure. For me, they are not related. I use simvastatin to lower the cholesterol and lisinopril to lower the bp. The lisinopril works w/o the simvastatin and v.v.
Avatar n tn Does "Simvastatin" cause body itching??? I know that one of the side effect of Simvastatin is "itching". I began to use it one week before. 1423357 tn?1511085442 Hi folks, first time poster here in this forum. I've been taking Simvastatin for 5 years, and coincidentally during that time period my blood glucose levels have been steadily increasing from 100 to 162. My GP has told me that I have pushed thru the ceiling of an index that's used for determining risk. He has given me 90 days to pull it back, or I'm going on Metformin. I am what I would consider to be, a healthy, active, non-smoking 60 y/o male.
Avatar n tn To joke about some one considering taking cocaine for recreational use who has had three bypass surgeries and is taking blood thinners is just a little reckless. Takes all kinds I guess........................
Avatar n tn My husband is only 38, he had a stroke last year he had a stent put in, now he is on plavix, atenolol, hydrochlorothiazide 25mg, last week his doc added niacin 500 mg, simvastatin 20, flexeril and tramadol, also his one aspirin each day, these are just so many meds, are they safe?
Avatar m tn I am wondering if anyone has taken simvastatin, the generic brand for Zocor. I just started taking this on Friday and twice since then I seem to have had some strange side effects. It has caused an upset stomach and then made me feel very jittery. It was almost as if I had the chills and then both nights had a horrible time sleeping. The only similar item I ate or drank was Diet Cranberry Soda. I am not sure if this would have had an impact. Any insight would be great.
Avatar f tn Can someone explain what, if any, evidence there for a switch from simvastatin to pravastatin? My husband's doctor said there is new evidence that simvastatin may be detrimental. Unfortunately, my husband did not quiz him further. He already has one stent in a narrow back artery but he has brought his cholesterol down considerably with the statins.
Avatar m tn curious if stef2011 or studyforhope or StephenCastlecrag know whether simvastatin by itself can reduce viral load? I've read about the effects in conjunction with NUCS but I'm curious if sim is effective alone.
