Avatar f tn I found out two years into treatment when I mentioned needing something for back and leg pain to her. By then I was taking 10-15 advil per day to function. Thankfully she was a runner who believed in vitamin supplements. Pay attention because the statin side effects can creep up over a couple of years. I did go off statins for a while. It took weeks for muscle issues to go away and I had other strange cramp like issues during the period.

562206 tn?1216150022 I did look up some info on the statins and it is a commonly known side effect as you describe, the muscle pain back pain and leg pain. I even seen some had chest pains. I don't know what to suggest to you other than talking to your Dr about possibly going off of the medication and seeing where your at then. I know how frustrating it is to get a Dr to listen sometimes but please don't give up, there are some very good Dr;s you just have to keep going till you find one.

Avatar f tn My endocrinologist prescribed me Atorvastatin 40mg in place of the simvastatin but it has since given my major chest pain and muscle weakness in my fingers and legs; so I was advised by the pharmacist to stop that and I have only taken the new statin twice and tonight was the second time taking it.
