Avatar f tn My endocrinologist prescribed me Atorvastatin 40mg in place of the simvastatin but it has since given my major chest pain and muscle weakness in my fingers and legs; so I was advised by the pharmacist to stop that and I have only taken the new statin twice and tonight was the second time taking it. Is simvastatin something that can be eased up to a higher dose to do the exact same thing atorvastatin does for the bad cholesterol?
Avatar f tn Zosta -10) also has the same effect as Storvas 10 mg. I have had cholecystectomy about 5 years back.
Avatar m tn Dear Doctor, I am a para-medical PhD student, and I used embalmed cadavers for my research. Yesterday I was dissecting blood vessels in muscle tissues. The vessels did have semi-liquid blood inside them. while dissecting I pricked my finger with the scalpel which had some blood on it. The wound wasn't bad, but still bleeding a little. I squeezed some blood out and washed my finger. I am not sure how well the cadaver is embalmed and I know it has not been screened.

The FDA make this restriction because at the highest dose of simvastatin 80 mg daily the incidence of serious myopathy was higher than using other available statins.
Avatar m tn One drug will inevitably lead to another. If there is a pill form I guarantee you there is a natural form, found in nature! There is too much money involved in pharma that's why they are on the market to make money they don't care that their drugs are harmful. Nature will ALWAYS provide a better way. Health requires a holistic approach too it's not just what you put in your mouth it's also what comes out of it. What you feed your brain and what comes out of it.
Avatar m tn no study for its activity on hbv, we do know it has activity but the trial has never started simvastatin lowers hcc 50% and prevents fibrosis/cirrhosis so it is indicated on all hbver, this has thousands of pateints studied for decades to find this data on hcc you better use simvastatin instead other statins, also ezetimibe has in vitro effect on hbv so these are the best choices on hbvers

Avatar n tn The raw feeling in my stomach continues no matter what I eat or drink. Milk turns into what seems like liquid fire in my stomach. I even tried vomitting a couple of times to get rid of the acid for what I hoped would be immediate relief - but it does nothing to help. The acid is so strong that it even burns my throat and palete. I have tried Prilosec OTC for 2-3 weeks at a time, but am worried about the reports of hip fractures with continued use.
Avatar m tn I have a question that I have always wondered about Methadone, but never wanted to ask a Dr. LOL. I understand that it comes in pill form and liquid form. What is the difference between the prescribing of it? Such as, why would a Dr. prescribe you the pill form instead of the liquid form, or why would they prescribe the liquid instead of the pill? I understand Hydrocodone comes the same way.
Avatar n tn Well, I should say, unless you use liquid vitamins, but they are seldom all that complete and once in liquid form they are much more prone to rapid oxidation and deterioration, so I personally don't use them.
Avatar n tn The doctor is switching me to simvastatin which reacted badly with my liver in the past. Aim is to save money. Is it safe to buy Atorvastatin online ?
