All of my cholesterol-related numbers are in a healthy range, and I have never experienced any serious side effects (e.g., muscle weakness, kidney and liver impairment, etc.). I have, however, had trouble sleeping for the past several years (perhaps caused by simvastatin, perhaps not). More importantly, I have been experiencing back pain for the past few months and would like to try CBD. I am down to sleep a few hours a night.

There isnt a fast cure for most chronic kidney diseases at the moment, so the treatment is mostly supportive - keep the blood pressure low, protect the remaining kidney function, prevent further damage and delay the renal failure. Lisinopril and Simvastatin is the correct direction. In my opinion, what you need to do is to 1. stick to your medication. 2. Kidney function test every 6 months. 3. Urinalysis and 24 hour urine collection every month. 4. Low salt intake and a nutritious diet.

I have tested twice since on Simvatstain alone and my numbers have actually dropped a little than during my Vytorin days. I quit taking the simvastatin last tuesday, and by friday I looked perfectly normal with no steroid cream...... Thanks again for all the help!

I use simvastatin to lower the cholesterol and lisinopril to lower the bp. The lisinopril works w/o the simvastatin and v.v.

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker while lisnopril is an angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE) inhibitor. Both groups of drugs and simvastatin are unlikely to cause erectile dysfunction. However yes, all three of them can cause swelling of ankles. Talk to your doctor. You can change your medications. Among antihypertensives you need to avoid thiazides , beta blockers and alpha blockers. High blood pressure and reduced blood supply to penis can also cause erectile dysfunction.

my husband has taken rimopril and simvastatin for over ten years, i met and marryed him 3 years ago our sex life was like everyone was well above average but a year later or less it dropped to maybe once week or once fortnight and as time has gone on its now worse all the time he blames the drugs he is on or iv had a heart attack is he correct !!!!!!

I have been on 20 mg of simvastatin and 3000 mg niaspan now my ck levels have went from 60 to 295 i could hardly walk .will my levels come down if i lower dose. and reverse damage. i have 12 stents .the rest of my blood work is fine.

I am currently 30 years old and when i was 28, I had a kidney transplant on April 22, 2008. Since that time I was able to start running again and completed the 2010 Houston Marathon in a time of 2:41:20 - 6:09 per mile! Following the race my Dr. told me that my total cholesterol was 303!!! So they instantly prescribed me 20mg of Simvastatin. With in a matter of 7-10 days I was nearly unable to run my legs became so heavy. Lead Legs!

I have had some 'interesting' symptoms of late, they seem to lean towards colon cancer, though it has been 'suggested' here that it could maybe be colitis [which though I don't believe, I don't don't either]. Before these symptoms, I was being investigated for kidney disease, all was clear, cystoscopy, scan [like the one they use on pregnant ladies] and an X-ray.

Problem is I think if you can't take one statin you may not be able to take any. But there are other drugs you can try like Niaspan (slow release niacin) and vitorin and so forth. My husband's cholesterol was 260, blood pressure was 140/90 and weight 260. He is 6' 2" though.

They read up on all of her meds called the Dr. he stopped the simvastatin and she is much better now and cont to improve. My husband is on it and has no problems. As with most drugs, they affect people different.

Simvastatin has been wdely used by members on this forum including myself. Took it for a few months but not currently taking it at the moment. So yes,Simvastatin, and overall a very healthy diet!!!!
