Signs of pneumonia or bronchitis

Common Questions and Answers about Signs of pneumonia or bronchitis

pneumonia

Avatar n tn From your description it is not clear that you have had one nodule that has not changed over time, or 3 different nodules. That could make a difference in interpretation of the nodule(s). Whether you have emphysema or not should be evident from the spirometry. That is the best way to make the diagnosis.
17484539 tn?1580565249 I'm down with acute bronchitis which I get every 2-3 years and which normally lasts 1-2 weeks & then I'm symptom-free. i'm on a round of Levaquin 7 days) and prednisone short term (5 days) covid test negative and no pneumonia, however on the chest X-ray was written "signs of COPD changes." What the heck does that mean and how is COPD really diagnosed? I'm an ex-smoker, stopped in 1982.
1353681 tn?1387083733 I believe I have an upper respiratory infection.. the one with the drawn out, long, hard cough :( I do feel mucous now, after a week, but also noticed a couple mins of wheezing with it earlier. It has not come in several hours since then, but someone said wheezing is a symptom of pneumonia. I don't have any other symptoms of pneumonia though, like fever, sweats, or chills. Is it possible an upper respiratory infection can have wheezing sometimes too and it is NOT pneumonia?
Avatar n tn I had pneumonia back at the beginning of this year. I did run fevers with my bout of pneumonia. Probably someone more experienced will answer your question more in detail. Everyone has different symptoms with different illnesses. This was just my experience. Hope I helped you somewhat.
Avatar n tn Pneumonia is a very serious lung infection that is caused by several different types of bacteria or viruses. Since you got well and then got sick again, you may either have a resistant strain, or have picked up a secondary infection. Yellow phlegm with a clear x-ray sounds like bronchitis. Either way, you need to see a pulmonary doctor to prescribe a different antibiotic to treat this new infection. Be sure to get lots of rest and drink plenty of fluids.
1814032 tn?1392518958 Also, do you think it could be something else? I have a history of both bronchitis and pneumonia (hospitalized for one time with pneumonia). Thank You Doctor!
Avatar n tn irritation of the throat from violent coughing, blood clot in the lung, bronchiectasis, bronchitis, cancer, cystic fibrosis, inflammation of the blood vessels in the lung, nosebleeds, pneumonia, tuberculosis or inhaling blood into the lungs. Are there any other signs or symptoms present? Chest x-ray, complete blood count and complete medical and physical examination is needed to help with the diagnosis.
Avatar n tn This group of Pulminoligists put me back on Advair and it was working again! I slowly recovered until January of this year when I had a mild cse of pneumonia...and again another infection until May. Then. I was having trouble breathing only...on a nebulizer 4 times a day. Had a family vacation in NC with 5 children, spouses and 14 grandchildren coming up in June which I couldn't imagine missing.
5093508 tn?1390543931 Is there blood in the mucous? Discolored mucous may mean pneumonia or bronchitis. Bloody mucous may mean a blood clot in the lung. Huge risk factors for a lung clot are: diabetic, smoker, overweight, drug abuse. My advice is to not wait and to see your doctor or go to the ER with very much haste! Heart problems, blood clot in your lungs, and pneumonia are all serious concerns here! J.
Avatar m tn First off, is NGU an adenovirus, and if it is, can it be the cause of my possible NGU?
Avatar m tn I did want to mention that many patients have actually had much, much lower occurrences of pneumonia when they began a nightly routine of flossing, brushing the tongue with a toothbrush, and brushing the teeth. Keeping the mouth very clean, and lowering the bacteria content of the mouth overall, seems to make a GREAT difference in preventing pneumonia. Not sure why, but this has been quite effective in the past.
Avatar f tn I've had bronchitis and pneumonia and baby is perfect!
Avatar m tn You should have an examination by a doctor to look for signs of asthma, a simple breathing test called spirometry, examination of your legs for any sign of thrombophlebitis that could send clots to your lungs and a CT scan or another test to look for any evidence of clots in your lungs. Breathing exercises will not suffice. You should seek medical advice without delay. Good luck.
Avatar f tn My earlier blood work and EKG had shown no signs of distress. They immediately placed two stents in my LAD and when I woke up I found it odd but my cough had subsided completely. I am not a doctor and don't know medically how that would have caused constant coughing but I'm happy to report the cough gone and on the road to recovery!
Avatar f tn These are airborne infections that cause slowly evolving chronic conditions. They can arise from an initial bout of pneumonia or not (many patients with these infections never had pneumonia).
Avatar n tn I took the patch off about an hour ago but still feel very dizzy, nauseated, and my head is pounding. Is this normal? Please help, I am not sure if tis is due to the pneumonia ad bronchitis or quitting.
Avatar f tn It sounds like a severe case of bronchitis that you got from getting the pneumonia, obviously just an observation though. Go back to your primary doctor and tell them your symptoms haven't changed, you may need different antibiotics. I had acute bronchitis with a nasty cough for about 5 months and I went to the doctor twice for it and the second time they gave me different antibiotics and it helped. Good luck, hope you feel better!
Avatar m tn One reason that acute bronchitis is such a common diagnosis in primary care practice is that physicians often lump various conditions together under the diagnosis of bronchitis. In the absence of clear diagnostic signs or laboratory tests, the diagnosis of acute bronchitis is purely clinical. Consequently, cough from upper respiratory tract infections, sinusitis or allergic syndromes (e.g., mild asthma or viral pneumonia) may be diagnosed as acute bronchitis.
Avatar n tn There are several things this can be. The first is bronchitis or pneumonia. Your doctor can tell you what is going on for sure and get you the proper treatment. Take care.
354236 tn?1196902187 However, my diagnosis was acute bronchitis; maybe your husband has CHRONIC bronchitis due to his job...this type of bronchitis never goes away.
1468158 tn?1363026295 yes you can but this is probably is bronchitis drink lots of warm liquids dont breath in any fumes and spit when you can and just keep to warm liquids and doctors can not see bronchitis unless you are pretty much at the stage of pneumonia i just had bronchitis a few weeks back and it causes a lot of mucus drainage go to a doctor if it gets worse but drink liquids and eat healthy food and lots of vitamin c you should be better in no time i hope you get better
Avatar m tn Low HGB of 12.5; High RBC of 5.98; Low MCV of 64.8; and low MCH of 20.9. Would anyone have a clue as to what problem these readings could indicate? The cough seems to worsen whenever I eat or exercise. Thanks very much.
Avatar f tn just watch for any other signs of sickness like a fever or anything
Avatar n tn I still have a cough, and went to a walk in today, and the doctor thought I might have bronchitis or pneumonia. I usually take prednisone for my breathing difficulties. Will this help with the possible broc/pne? She suggested 5 20mg. a day for 7 days. Has anyone had an experience like this? I am leaving on a cruise Sunday, and do not want to be sick. If you can help, I would appreciate it.
Avatar f tn It could be a sign of Bronchitis or pneumonia. I would go to the Urgent Care and see what they can do. Possibly a chest x-ray to find out if you have bronchitis or pneumonia. If they find something, they will put you on an antibiotic. Like me, I'm still trying to fight off my bronchitis, and they put me on Zithromax (Z-pack). But I would definitely go to the urgent care or see your PCP first.
