Signs of digoxin toxicity

Common Questions and Answers about Signs of digoxin toxicity

digitek

Avatar f tn I have been through Digitalis and Digoxin toxicity. The classic sign of toxicity is seeing 'cracked walls'. I too had the upset stomach and vomiting, but it did not take very long for that to happen to me; I never lasted anywhere near 5 weeks. I would question if something else is going on with that. The other symptoms you describe can also happen as a result of the lower HR and BP.
Avatar f tn s my completely unprofessional opinion on what I know about digoxin, and I took it for a number of years as a kid for SVT. It's an old drug that's been used literally for centuries. I took it back in 1957. It's inherently toxic and if that fact was not enough to curtail its use, there's evidence that suggests the drug, even at dosages normally considered safe, can cause visual problems, serious skin rashes, and may significantly aggravate asthma.
Avatar n tn Retailers who carry Digitek should return the product to the place of purchase. Overdosing on this drug can be very dangerous. In fact, digoxin was used in a series of murders in the 1980’s and 90’s that were committed by a male nurse who claimed to have killed the patients to “end their suffering”. Digoxin is a generic of digitek and it is the generic that has legal issues.
Avatar n tn I have seen green halos before due to digoxin toxicity....You don't happen to be on that drug are you? I remember it was awful....Regardless, if you keep seeing green, please see someone about it.
390388 tn?1279636213 He went so far as to call my cardiologist which I am scheduled to see today anyway and now I have to have the blood test to check for toxicity levels of Digoxin. Not a big deal in the end but it makes one wonder sometimes.
Avatar m tn Does the recovery start in the toes, which are numb at the top? Yesterday I felt some slight pain just under the edge of the nail on top of the big toe of my right foot. Very very small!! And if B6 can causes this neuropaty, how many time does it take? I am no diabetic and was examined for many diseases causing neuropaty. But I am healty, without finding the cause of my neuropaty. Who can give me some answers? Not my doctor, nor my neurologist knew thtat B6 could cause neurpaty.
Avatar f tn The benadryl might, as it can, be causing you worse tachycardia? Diagnosed by tilt table with P.O.T.S. in 2004, I suspect I have that form of P.O.T.S. (hyperadrenergic) due to various abnormal catecholamine type numbers in a number of lab tests. Medicines that were tried and discontinued for either side effects or not helping- lopressor, florinef, midodrine, and verapamil. Currently, I am not being treated by any physician for my P.O.T.S..
4356842 tn?1353312209 So I had a pretty crappy cold about a week and a half ago, now being on digoxin I can't take cold meds so I stick it out. Well the cold is now over and my teeth are hurting. I see no signs of abscess' and my mom thinks it might be a sinus infection. No from what I've read online they usually give amoxcillin to treat it. My question is has anyone else on digoxin taken amoxcillin? Is it safe. Being on dig I know there's a lot of stuff we can and can not take.
Avatar f tn The perinatologist and pediatric cardiologist will monitor the baby carefully for signs of these effects, and may give your daughter-in-law medications that will cross the placenta to treat the baby. Digoxin is one of the more common drugs given for this purpose.
Avatar f tn t show the symptoms of dizziness, headaches, chest paint, or nosebleeds which they say are the signs. He was prescribed 2 medicines Lanoxin(.25mg.daily and Enalapril. (10mg. twice a day) Is there any severe issues I need to cautious of? and what kind of test should he undergo?
222267 tn?1253302210 Ignoring the signs is bad, it can be very serious and this is a real problem with Lithium - I cannot believe a doctor increased you to 1200mg and then did notice it. Lithium is different for everyone - 1200mg might not be a high dose to me but to the next person it might kill them - this is why titration is so important and monitoring.
Avatar f tn This effect is likely to be caused by reduction of sympathetic activity or increase of parasympathetic activity. Increase of systolic blood pressure during sleep is probably caused by the positive inotropic effect of the drug. Oxygen saturation levels are measured before nebulisation to check the amount of oxygen required to be administered . After the process , the levels are checked to see whether the required levels of above 95 % or more have been reached or not . Hope this helps you .
Avatar n tn I took Digoxin for a number of years in reponse to an atrial fibrillation event. My new physician did not feel I needed to be on it any longer. What are the side effects of discontinuing this medication? I have been off it for several months and some odd changes in my body.
Avatar n tn s explanation where he states digoxin is used to treat irregular heartbeats. I was on digoxin for a few months following my congested heart failue event. It is my understanding the medication is used to increase contractility of the pumping chambers. My medication for stablizing heart rate is a beta blocker (coreg) and an ACE inhibitor. My research: "Digoxin is contraindicated in patients with ventricular fibrillation.
Avatar f tn Even if the defect is open but small, there is no evidence that (other than a very slightly increased risk of infection of the heart) there is any adverse impact on the lives of these kids. So, we have plenty of adult patients with small VSDs who have never had them intervened upon.
Avatar f tn hi, i want to ask you that which of the digoxin or verapamil are better for prophylactic treatment of paroxysmal superaventricular tachycardia for sone one who was treatet with intravenous adenosine?
Avatar f tn s common use is for Afib and Aflutter, beta and calcium channel blockers are the more modern medicine of choice. Digoxin has potentially dangerous interactions with verapamil, and amiodarone, and a number of other commonly prescribed drugs.
Avatar f tn No signs of infection or any abnormality with white blood cells....how is her platelet count?
Avatar n tn The title of my question is from one of the responses to recent post on the forum. This is exactly how I am feeling these days. Is it a danger sign? In last ten days I have seen my pulse rate decreasing, blood pressure decreasing and for last few days I also feel light theaded. Is it a sign of worsening condition? I had MI in 2007, a stented LAD and 35% EF. I also have an ICD. I take usual medications beta blockers, ACE-inhibitors, digoxin, asprin-clopidogrel, statin, deuratics.
Avatar n tn I have been taking digoxin .25mg to help control them and 2 baby aspirin daily. I have just started waking out of a SOUND sleep with heart rate in excess of 126 bpm w/ bp146/98 (last night). I will then start shaking. I did goto the ER a few weeks back when my heart rate was 158 bpm and a bp of 198/110, the EMT said I was having an anxiety attack. When I got to the hospital they ran tests and noted that I had no level of digoxin in my blood.
Avatar f tn I received a letter in the mail from the pharmaceutical company stating they accidentally put a double dose of the medication digoxin I was taking since my surgery because of an irregular heartbeat. I feel that this is the reason I now need these valves replaced but all the doctors feel differently. I would like to know if anyone has had 3 valves replaced at one time? I had rheumatic fever when I was young and that's why I needed the valves replaced the first time.
Avatar n tn my son was treated for an acute anxiety attack in his university ER with risperdal 4 days ago. he has not been the same ever since. he has had all of the classic signs of toxicity from this drug. he was treated in our local ER (2 days later) with benedryl and adavan and he seemed fine following the treatment. but the dystonic reactions, disorganized thinking, anxiety, all symptoms continue.
