1826775 tn?1321633072 re fully recovered, you will be pain free. Unfortunately, for a lot of people, pain is a way of life. And, unfortunately, people without chronic pain don't always understand what it's like to live with it every day. This is a nice place to be able to come and vent or support. I hope you will make a full recovery. If you really are concerned about the methadone, talk with your doctor about using a different long-acting med.
Avatar m tn I have been on and off pain meds due to a neck injury for years. I took myself off of the OXy's i was taken and been off for about 3 weeks. The doc gave me some darvacets and I THINK they are giving me shortness of breath. I also, take 1 soma350 a day now and two zanaflex at night to relax my twitches Has anyone else had these symptoms?
Avatar n tn i am on 95mg of methadone and am now perscribed soma 350mg what are the side effects
Avatar f tn I have been trying to fine forums on line where I can ask anyone who is experiencing any of these issues like myself..I am 35 years old and have been in pain management for 6 years..I was in a horrible car accident in 1999 which led me to have neck surgery a fusion on my neck..I have a 8 year old that was born in 2003 and that pregnancy was no meds at all..
Avatar n tn Many anesthesiologists and doctors/surgeons are unfamiliar with the proper equalanegesic dosage of morphine for patients on methadone maintenance, or using methadone for pain. As a result, they make the mistake of giving you too little morphine when they are using that in place of or in addition to your methadone dose for pain. Sometimes they even think that the methadone you normally take will help address your post-surgical pain. This is in fact NOT the case at all.
2183581 tn?1369937547 But I have been in chronic pain for the past few years. And have been struggling for the past year with no insurance. Fighting with doctors dealing with stolen meds, bad massage therapist, bad acupuncture, and trying to deal with my life. Okay another the catch up my post for my question is related to this. I finally broke down and paid cash to see a pain management doctor in desperation hoping that he could help me get off the couch.
Avatar f tn HI welcome to the world of methadone they dont tell you about im sorry hun about all you can do is get off the stuff to get rid of the side effects I was on it for 6 1/2 yr and lived in a sexless marriage it s u c ked I know of nothing that can fix your problem other then getting off the stuff if you need help with that I can help good luck and God bless........
Avatar f tn It could be a side effect of the methadone or even an allergic type reaction to it. I remember when I took Macrobid (antibiotic) for a urinary infection, I had a high fever (102.3) every time I would take it, so I called my doctor's office and they told me to stop it immediately because I was having an allergic reaction to it. As it turned out, my father had had this same type of reaction to it a couple years before.
901222 tn?1399142874 Lyrica (pregabalin) is a GABA analogue, similar to Neurontin (gabapentin). Even though pregabalin is approved for The results are still out on whether or not people suffer neurological dependance on this medication. People using high doses of pregabalin (> 1000 mg/day) report problems stopping this medication. My attitude about certain reported side-effects, like weight gain, is that I'll never know what they'll do to me until I try.
Avatar m tn Well, I would see if you are reacting to the naloxone or the buprenorphine, maybe the dye. If for pain management, I would try Subutex, then. generic Subutex... pure mu receptor agonists narcotics simply are not the answer for pain management in people < 60 yrs of age or 70, simply due to the phenomenon of tolerance. Subutex and Suboxone are far behind in FDA approval for moderate pain....plus.
Avatar f tn My doctor is optimistic that this will help the pain, but have been on the Lupron for over 2 weeks, and my pain is only getting worse, which scares me. Other suggested treatments for the side effects of lupron that have been suggested are acupuncture and massage. I wish you luck with lupron and don't mean trash it, as I do know people in your exact position where they did a course of lupron, their cysts and fibroids shrunk, and the had surgery.
Avatar m tn I guess I don't understand how people use Methadone for pain management IF they have to use a BT med. Doesn't Methadone block the effects of other narcotics? So how can BT meds work if they are blocked?
Avatar m tn If they want you to go see a pain management Dr, I would listen to them. It sounds like to me you are in need of some type of pain management. You do also need to talk to them about your addiction issues (the alcohol and hydros) because you need their help with this. Your drinking, Xanax at night and hydros throughout the day are concerning and IMO you should NOT tackle this alone! Please talk with you Dr(s) about this.
Avatar f tn It really depends on the type of pain, but the side effects and potential for abuse are far less with subs, in my opinion. Nerve pain is not really helped by opiates, they just make me high enough to endure it. I know more people who died from methadone than any other drug.
1050179 tn?1253899186 Some pain meds worked but not for long periods of time. The meds for fibro had intolerable side effects for me. I have been on Methadone for 2 years now becuz i became pregnant and stopping pain meds would've put too much stress on the baby. She is 2 years old now.she's happy and healthy! My issue is that I have found out through my experience in taking liquid methadone that it helps my fibro pain for a long period of time..one dose lasts 24hrs!
Avatar f tn Does anyone know of a doctor who will prescribe me methadone in low doses for my fibromyalgia. I've tried all kinds of pain meds, including natural and methadone is the only drug that gets me out of bed.
667913 tn?1242700488 I started Suboxone last saturday for pain management NOT for WDs. It is NOT U.S. approved for pain management but my doc loves it and LOTS of his patients are on it for management. His office staff ALL think its the new miracle drug. One of the side effects "that I had" was headaches, but thats just me. It does work for pain but NOT like the other pain meds, its different. And after 1 week I found that I couldnt afford it so its back to Roxycodone as of today.
737319 tn?1232048945 But either way you look at it there are horror stories of Oxycontin and Methadone. I would look at it as whatever is helping you get through the pain, take it and see if it helps. If your Doctor thinks it may help, I would listen to them. Also they look into your allergies to see what and what not to prescribe you, so you shouldn't be allergic to that particular medication. There are other methods of dealing with pain as well. Just talk to your Doctor. Best of luck, hope you feel better.
Avatar n tn This community has been a wonderful source of strength for many of us. I am hopeful that you will find the same to be true for you.
Avatar n tn t live with the side effects, and want off of meds. The side effects of methadone is much greater than other meds, you will have severe constapation that requires meds, possible urine retention, and sexual side effects. Methadone was the worst medicine I ever took!
Avatar m tn No, none of my doctors would ever give me anything like that to help. Sometimes I wish they did LOL.
Avatar n tn This forum is for people who suffer with pain and the management of it. KLM had great advise with the Fentanyl patch. It gives you around the clock pain relief. The patches have a life of 72 hrs. There is no need to get up in the morning to take that dose of pain relief. It does come with side effects that generally last for the first month and after that you won't een know you're wearing a patch. If you'd like more information please contact me. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I think it is a crime that every doctor is pushing methadone for pain relief, due to pressure of the costs of other available, less harmful methods. Is there a panel ANYWHERE looking into this epidemic for the pain SUFFERER? I am NOT going to become a methadone addict because it is SO CHEAP! I have several family members on methadone, much to THEIR chagrin, and now they can't get off it.
1050179 tn?1253899186 Chronic pain patients who have limited access to opioids may be redirected to methadone maintenance centers for management of their pain. Unfortunately, little information exists on the incidence and characteristics of methadone maintenance patients with chronic pain. The aim of this study was to survey individuals at methadone maintenance centers in order to determine the prevalence of chronic pain and to explore differences between patients with and without pain in this treatment setting.
16785591 tn?1451596681 I understand your wife's concern. Seniors have to be especially cautious when taking opiates - or most any medication. That's another long subject that I will avoid at this time - but it is a fact. There are multiple sources on Methadone in pain management. There are also good and and not so good outcomes in using Methadone for pain management. I'll be honest with you - it scares me - especially in seniors. About ten years ago my PMP ordered it for me on a trial bases.
Avatar n tn This is certainly possible. Everyone metabolizes opiate medications differently, especially those that require a two-step process, like oxycodone. Part of every opiate rotation is a titration period where doctor and patient find an effective dose of the new opiate, and experience shows that pain should always been treated with a minimum dose of opiates. Remember that chronic pain is never 100% alleviated with opiate medication and it is important to include other modalities in treatment.
