Did the blurred vision precede the headache? That would indicate a migraine or migraine-like headache. As for the anxiety getting worse, Prozac is known to be the most stimulating ssri and because of that is the least successful one used for anxiety. The good thing about it is that it's the easiest to stop taking and doesn't usually have the weight gain and some other side effects associated with the others.
Unfortunately, most of the SSRI-type AD's cause weight gain, that is one of the more bothersome effects.
I'm with Maddie above, personally, I would rather be somewhat overweight and my issues (mine are severe anxiety and panic attacks) in check than worry about weight and be in constant mental turmoil. Everyone is different, however.
I have found that once I found the right AD, I was better off just sticking with it than "rocking the boat", so to speak.
So this morning iv put my foot down and told my doctor I knew fluoxetine was doing nothing for me like it had done 3 years ago and needed a change after persuading him and listing all the side effects I was getting he changed me to mirtazapine 30mg to be taken a night with a good drink of liquid my post really is to anyone out there have they had this change and was it better for them?
Paroxetine (Paxil) may be more likely cause a significant weight gain than other drugs of this type (like fluoxetine or sertraline). Studies about citalopram found no significant weight changes for most patients (but a minority of about 5% of the patients had a weight gain of more than 5 kg).

re doing what you need to do to lose the weight. The majority of the fluoxetine will be excreted in a few more weeks, so just be patient and continue eating right and exercising.

I have been on Citalopram since about August 2011. The side effect is actually weight loss with this AD but that is not always the case. In the past 3 years I have consistently been putting on weight which is very frustrating for me. Although it is something I have had to accept as part of getting better. I don't particularly cope well with weight gain either, but on approaching the doctors, they aren't much help.

I have been on both citalopram and prozac but citalopram was longterm weight gain, dry mouth and headaches and prozac major short term weight gain. Came of prozac for that reason after only a few months and wonder if it would've settled with time, or go back to the one i was on for 12 years but had some side effects including weight gain.
Doc says my last option is mirtazapine but it is also an appetite stimulator.
It seems plausible but if it were due to the med I probably would have expected weight gain earlier. Prozac is also said to be one of the better drugs for minimal weight gain as a side-effect.
If it were me I would probably be discussing hypothyroidism with my doctor and also looking at the possibility of emotional eating. Emotional eating is something we sometimes do to manage our emotions. This can sometimes be done subconsciously.
When I came off of it, my doc put me on a taper as I came off of it. I did notice some side effects like naseau and increased anxiety, however I kept an open line of communication with the doc. I asked if it would be okay to go on a slower taper as I came off of it. He agreed and the slower taper seemed to help with the side effects.

Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising.
Not sure citalopram is any different than other ssris in encouraging food consumption -- depends on the person. And some can make you gain weight even if you don't eat any additional food because they can slow metabolism. The only real weight gainer that makes most people eat more that I know of is the tetracyclic Remeron.

I do NOT tolerate these tablets as well and have also tried the 10mg capsules with the same effects (less effective more side effects- nausea, dizziness, fat face, racing thoughts, decreased libido, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc.).. I have called several pharmacies but they all have the blue tablets too -_-... Th side effects persist even after a month on the different pill forms too.. Any options left? Or must I suck it up and take a pill that makes me sick or discontinue usage...
Celexa came first, and when the patent ran out, they played with the structure, took some things out, and made Lexapro. Reportedly it has fewer side effects, but who knows if that's really true? I found Celexa easier to take myself, so it just goes to show. But the core of both drugs is the same. For me, the one drug that really put on the weight was Paxil. For others, it's different.
However recently I have noticed that the color of my blood (taken to test blood sugar) is a distinct chocolate-brown color similar to whenever I have had to use Nitro tabs/patches for angina attacks. I have also been affected by regular bouts of diarrhea. Are these side effects to be concerned about given the somewhat more beneficial effects and if so what could I do about them?

Depakote is notorious for weight gain (and for me made my hair fall out) and one of the perks of Lamictal is it may actually help you lose weight. I take 200mg and do not experience fatigue and I have been told if it works well, it may be the only medication you need. BUT DO keep an eye out for the rash, it is rare but very serious if it occurs.
