202436 tn?1326474333 I say this because it looks like either SID (sensory integration disorder) from her earlier behaviors or ADD from her later behaviors. It very well could be both. SID is treated without medication. ADD can be treated with meds or without. If it is ADD, the way a school works with a child (504 plan) is very different and can be helpful. You might want to get the book, "The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley, and read up on it or google it. Definitely google SIDs.
144586 tn?1284666164 The only animal in the hous4e I am scared of is there one male ferret appropritely named Sid Vicious - Sid loves me and I never leave the house without a least one bite mark !!! Avatar f tn It maybe the itchiness of the scabs causes her to scratch again. This is a vicious circle because scabs do itch when they are healing. Make sure her nails are cut short. If there are problems with cutting nails then that will confirm that she has sensory issues. Try to keep her in long sleeved cotton tops and bottoms. She may need a moisturiser rubbing into her skin every day. I don't know one to suggest other than E45 if her skin is very dry.
Avatar n tn If he is have a look at sensory integration disorder. This behaviour is linked to that, and SID is frequently a part of autism. However you can have SID without autism. Do any of his senses appear over or under sensitive? The type of behaviour you mention is typically seen as sensory seeking ie. one or all of the senses are not getting enough information and so this behaviour starts. What is his sense of smell like. Is he a fully eater or will he eat anything.
Avatar m tn You need to capitalize that, Portann. It's... The Great One. :) Gretzky, Lemieux, Crosby...each in a class of their own and deserving of their own individual regard. Wayne was quite the phenom in his own right and I'm also a big fan of The Great One. I like it quite a bit that Lemieux has taken Crosby under his wing and that Sid lives at Mario's house. What a great mentor for Sid. Mario is all class. Man, Canada produces some great hockey players.
Avatar f tn My daughter has sensory integration disorder (SID) and the first couple of symptoms you mentioned sound a lot like it. (uncomfortable underware, tight pony tail, nail biting etc...) It all could be sensory related. My daughter excels in school and is socially acclimated. She has been in thearapy for several years. The obessions or serious agrivations or fears can change from year to year.
Avatar n tn Having said that - his symptoms sound a lot like Sensory Processing Disorder or SPD (sometimes also called sensory integration disorder -SID). Its a fairly new disorder and often gets mistaken for AD/HD. This is a very good site with info on it - http://www.sensory-processing-disorder.com/ And we have a person on medhelp with extensive experience with SPD as her own son has that problem. That site is here - http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn You know the way he is reacting is very similar to how kids with SID or Sensory Integration Disorder react. Children with this have very similar symptoms to ADHD and typically get misdiagnosed. Check out this web site - http://www.sensory-processing-disorder.com/index.html to see if any of the symptoms for SID sound familiar. Also post over on the child behavior forum.

Avatar n tn They believe that he has ADHD combined, Bi-polar, Intermittent Explosive Diorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Sensory Intergration Dysfunction. We have known about the SID and ADHD for some time now but, the other diagonsosies are new. If anyone has any info on these disorders please let me know. We have known that our sweet little boy has had something wrong because of behavior.
