So, if you don't have symptoms you don't need the antibiotic. If you want to finish the course of metronidazole for the parasite you can even though they didn't find one. Sometimes it takes several specimens to find one. Do you have diarrhea? If so, how often do you have diarrhea per day? Or are you over it?

Saying that...did your dentist prescribe both because you have a bad infection?
I am leery of anything that could add to my liver damage and normally try to get an antibiotic in the penicillin family.

Hi, i traveled from New York to China two days ago. Afterwards, I've been diagnosed with bacterial infection in my stomach after i went to the hospital to check out stomach pains. Yesterday night i had a fever with about 37.8 Celsius and right now my chest hurts and the inside feels like it itches. What should I do? Is it because the infection has traveled? or the chest pain is because of the spreading infection?
I was diagnosed with C. diff. After my second hospital stay, I was sent home with Metronidazole 500MG tablets to take with food 3X a day. I am on my 8th day of taking this, and still have diarrhea with a loss of appetite. When will the diarrhea clear up? After the Flagyl treatment is completed? Should I be taking a probiotic supplement along with the Flagyl? I have no other symptoms other than the diarrhea/bloating.
According to the literature a select few brands of doxycycline may not have restrictions about taking them with dairy products. Any way I would be sure and take the meds with your meals as this should help ease the tummy upset.

Consider switching to a different type of prescription food for inflammatory bowel disease. Some of the best I have used that are different than the duck, etc... ones you have mentioned are Royal Canin's digestive low fat or hypoallergenic. I have been taking metronidazole for six days now and still have a discharge. I still have one more day of meds, but should the discharge be gone or does it take awhile to clear up?
