Should i buy exercise bike or treadmill

Common Questions and Answers about Should i buy exercise bike or treadmill

29837 tn?1414538248 i'm 6 weeks into tx and my hgb is dropping like a rock. my NP said that i should continue to do light exercise if possible. i understand that low RBC's and anemia can increase your chances of heart attack or stroke....i'm a bit confused and worried to do any exercising at this point. i walk up a flight of stairs and i almost black out. my right thumb is in great shape from channel surfing. does that count?
Avatar f tn Like JJ, I think I should still be able to run 10 miles or more. I guess those days are over. I just keep reading these stories about how active some people are and wonder, if they can do it, why can't I?
Avatar f tn I lost 20 lbs just doing interval training on treadmill 30 minutes in am and 30 min in pm....(you can do on bike too). Now I am a vegetarian and looking to got this girl.
335728 tn?1331418012 Gosh, three hours of PT. Mine was 45 minutes and I often thought that was entirely long enough. I hope you hold out and I hope they are able to understand your limitations. I had an unexpected sub PT person one day and it was like everything was off because her expectations were out of whack. Plus she kept trying to make small talk while I was trying to concentrate on my balance. I did once have a neuro tell me he thought I should try walking on a treadmill to "challenge" my balance.
Avatar n tn I don't buy into the hype of low-carb/Atkins/South beach or any of that. I simply eat LESS than what I used to... I've discovered a good, simple way to do this: take whatever it is you usually eat and cut the portions in half. I've also cut out beer and really bad foods altogether... This has worked wonders for me: I look a lot better, I feel great... I'm even sleeping better! Good luck!
18524847 tn?1465599501 -) I have a treadmill and although I don't use it like I should, neither do I go outside and walk like I should either. I do have my treadmill in front of a window so I can watch the birds and whatever else might be lurking outside my window and can easily spend half an hour or more on the treadmill, with my earbuds in, listening to my tunes.
98010 tn?1305903335 so does that mean that whenever i begin to run and immediately after i run i should drink water? Or shld i wait for awhile after i run before i can drink water? I've been gaining since i started my daily jogging. it's depressing and the more i'm stressed about my weight, the more i'll eat and the more i'll gain. it really ***** i used to be really skinny when i didn't even care about my weight. As my consciousness grow, my weight increases...
Avatar m tn I have found that if I keep my heart rate under about 150 during cardiovascular exercise (not running - usually riding an exercise bike or using a stairmaster) and go no longer than about 30 minutes, I am okay. I still have some discomfort, but it is manageable. I can also do pushups, situps, chinups and dips for strength work without much difficulty. However, I cannot lift weights without the same kind of pain, or do Yoga, or swim.
Avatar n tn I don't feel stressed and why does it come on when I exercise or do heavy work? Isn't exercise supposed to relieve stress? I don't know if I am making it worse by plowing through or if that is the best thing to do.
Avatar m tn other than that I think yoga and pilates would be really good, I have a pilates dvd, I will dig it out. I have an exercise bike and I use that too... I wear compression hose to keep my bp up and that has really helped my exercise level. Just remember slow and steady!! I find that if I think I am feeling really good and push myself, I pay for it, by being sick for two or three days after. So pace yourself. Glad you found us!!
Avatar n tn When I first started taking the Toprol, I didn't notice any effect on my exercise but I now feel like I am wearing a governor. I don't have any trouble achieving heart rates above 160, but my legs feel like lead. Could the low BP itself be the cause or should I look elsewhere? If this is likely to be a class effect of the low dose beta blocker, could you suggest another therapy for my problem?
Avatar n tn I am on my 6th wk of treatment and I havent lost any weight, I think its cuz of the NO exercise routine (I got a stationery bike and treadmill so I could exercise in the house but 2 min on one gets me winded, dizzy & nauseated). I am getting nauseated much of the time now so maybe my appetite will wane and I might lose a lb or 2.
Avatar m tn I use so much more than most people and as soon as I feel that uncomfortable extra beat which can come strong every few beats or so... I take a calcium and magnesium whole food form tablet of the minerals and boy it is such a miracle because sweet relief is close at hand. I wish you well in your journey to find your own healing...
Avatar m tn Guess what? I looked strong, but physiologically, I had poor circulation. Now to my exercise regimen, I tend to hot the gym 3-5 a week, first, start with 30 mins on treadmill, run 15 and trot/walk for 15, burning total of 100-150 calories. Next, Elliptical machine( this works your whole body to increase circulation...very critical equipment) for 20 mins burning 100-150 calories. Next, Leg pull/ a couple. Next, Abs machine, this, I do between 50-100 reclines or bends.
Avatar m tn If you can't tolerate exercise well while standing at the moment, you might try using a recumbant bike, building up slowly the time you spend on it. Are you getting counsel from your pastor if you are a Christian/are you in small group where you are getting fellowship & prayer support?
231441 tn?1333896366 I can also book my holiday for Australia for Christmas now knowing that even if I am pregnant next cycle I'll still be in the allowable travel period by then. IN the meantime I am back on low carb diet as of today. last night I did yoga (finally after several months off), and this morning when I couldn't sleep I did 99 minutes (8.5 km and est. 600 calories) on my treadmill.
Avatar n tn so here you sit just going over and over this until your anxiety is at it's highest and you just need something to take your mind off of all this. Wow I can't believe I am venting or whining so much. I hope I can drag myself to the computer and have some emails or some comments or anything to keep my mind off the pain. Well I hope to hear from some of you and would love to find a chat room...maybe this web site could set one up??
Avatar f tn I've been on low carb diets, I've counted calories, I've worked out 7 days/week (sometimes 2x/day), I've tried a hormone reset diet, I've tracked my food intake, I've done meal replacements, nothing works. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat or how much I exercise, every day I weigh the exact same thing. This has gone on for over a year. At least I've stopped gaining since stopping the antidepressant. I've had all kinds of blood work and tests, which show nothing.
Avatar m tn I dont know if its my heart or lungs or what. I, too, burp alot and everytime I wake up I have to burp about 4-5 times to expel all the gas. When I eat anything, I swallow more than once to clear my throat so I know im swallowing a lot of air. That still doesnt explain the chest pain and burping when I wake up though. I cant seem to find anything about it on the net but I have had numerous EKGs (meaning its probably not my heart) and I dont know where to turn next.
Avatar n tn It scares me, but also really frustrates me because I feel like I have no idea what the problem is or how to fix it. What can I do? What should I ask a doctor to test for? Please help if you can.
Avatar n tn Then my daughter came along and I got my butt down to 130 again buy buying a treadmill and doing cardio everyday. Right now I'm around 138 and am trying like hell to get back to 130 but my body doesn't want to budge. But eating right and exercising is the trick. own experience the pills are **** don't waste your money and your hopes on them. Start by cleaning out the cabinets that are holding the potato chips and mac and cheese. go to the grocery store and stack up on bagged lettuce.
Avatar n tn I have been taking medication to help me to quit smoking and I am seeing a nutritionist. I am doing better with what I eat and have even added more protein in my diet. Since I have not been smoking I crave chocolate. I wake up in the middel of the night and eat M&M's. I have herniated disc in my neck so it makes it difficult for me to exercise. What is some suggestions that can help me?
1929236 tn?1323124128 About a year went by after that and I kept blacking out randomly and couldn't see or hear when I ran and I kept going my doctor just to be told that I was full of ****. I finally went back to the cardiologist and this time they did a stress test and let my hr go well above 200, I think I saw 237 on the monitor. Well, minus the heart rate I maxed out the treadmill and kept it maxed out for 15 min.
Avatar n tn ive been watching my calories strictly and exercising everyday nothing too strenous i just ride my exercise bike for 40 minutes everyday...i was weighing everyday and that got a little discouraging because the scale has not moved in 7 forcing myself to weigh once a week so this friday is the hoping for at least another five pounds gone....before i started phentermine my friends were telling me that it would give me so much energy and i wouldnt be hungry at all...
Avatar f tn I often have no choice but to get off the treadmill and hit the stationary bike to finish my aerobic exercise. I am 52 and overweight as well and I know that the extra weight can't help this issue at all. I will try the regular stretching and an ibuprofen topical cream and see if they help at all. I don't think the surface I use is the issue, as I have an excellent treadmill that has a built in deck that has some give in it, unlike a sidewalk or road.
Avatar n tn Lots of times I have them when I walk real fast for exercise, and lots of times I don't have them. I used to turn around an hurry back to my car. NO MORE! I will not let these PVC's ruining my life. Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn later at night i jog/run on the treadmill for 25 minutes - on weekends i go to eat at subway.. If i keep doing this for a month or so will i reach my weight goal????????
Avatar f tn If you join the gym focus on getting healthy and not on the scale (self sabatoge) give it a chance to work, give it 30 days. 6. I have found that now that I exercise I am extremely aware of what I eat. I worked so hard at the gym I won't touch anything that will negate my good work. I crave healthy food now. 7. Look for foods high in fiber, grab a McIntosh apple as a snack (sweet and delish).
362249 tn?1441318618 my wii fit just has a basic step and the running which i do both!! i do not have a treadmill i do have this exercise bike thing (like a stand up ski one) very hard to do though but i havent brought it over to my house though yet still at my in laws (next door) i live in a trailer i dont think i will get a treadmill im too scared of hitting the floor so hard lol!!
Avatar n tn When I switched from a bike to a treadmill, I started losing again, but now that I'm back to the bike, which I love, my weight has stabalized and I know I'm going to have to take up an interval power walking program. I think you need to do cardio six days a week to lose weight. I'd do one type you haven't been doing for six weeks, say power walking with intervals, then switch to a bike with intervals or try spinning. It's a lot of fun. Try crunches for the belly fat.
