Avatar f tn Has your daughter ever had chicken pox? If so, this could possibly be shingles. While shingles typically affects older adults (the older you are, the higher chance of getting shingles gets), ANYONE who has had chicken pox, no matter how mild a case, can get shingles (shingles are caused by the same virus that causes chicken pox and once you've had chicken pox, teh virus remains in your body forever).
Avatar f tn I was diagnoses with shingles, and I had no rash or blisters. I know that a small percentage of people do not have either of those symptoms. What I am wondering is I am finished with the medication, and how long before I can expect the nerve pain to go away. Is it possible it will never go away since I did not have the rash or blisters? I am getting scared.
Avatar n tn You can discuss this possibility with your dermatologist and get yourself prescribed for the treatment of shingles. Treatment of shingles includes antiviral drugs, steroids, analgesics and anti viral eye drops. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Warm regards.
1027005 tn?1300050172 With my son I had a thrush like rash on the inner thighs and used a quarterzone cream. With my daughter I had shingles and just had to wait it out. There was a cream at the chemist that helped a bit but lucky for me it was a minor case.
689528 tn?1364135841 Last Feb I noticed my rash and was diagnosed as having shingles. I was too late for any treatment or anything and still appeared to have a rash after a few months. The doctor gave me a cream which took the redness away but didn't get rid of anything fully. Through that time I went to a dermatologist and she said I have eczema and gave me another cream. That was back in July or so and I still get this inflamed rash. It's not overly itchy and when I first had it...I did look like shingles.
Avatar f tn It is not necessary that shingles will present with a rash and can present as atypical shingles also. Mostly shingles is accompanied by a very painful rash, but sometimes shingles pain occurs without a rash. This condition is known as zoster sine herpete. In the absence of a rash, pain in the chest or the back may be so severe as to occasionally be mistaken for a heart attack, a lung infection or spinal problem.
Avatar m tn yes my wife had chiken pox in past and i have shingles on my back and little part on tummy ,i went to hospital and they told me about this ' thx
Avatar f tn Hello, Since shingles is caused by reactivation of virus, so it will take its own time to go away. Treatment of shingles includes antiviral drugs like acyclovir, valacyclovir, famicyclovir, steroids to improve healing time analgesics to reduce the pain and anti viral eye drops if there is any eye involvement. The rash and pain usually subside within three to five weeks, but about one in five patients develop a painful condition called postherpetic neuralgia, which is often difficult to manage.
Avatar n tn I have several raised red pimple like spots just below my left arm pit. These areas do not itch but are sore to touch and are sore period. I feel their presence when simply walking around. What would casae these?? Is it an aftermath from taking the medication for the possibility of lyme disease after I had an engorged tick that left a distinctive red circle around the center of where the tick was engorged? As it happens, the red spots are on the same side that the tick was found.
4806014 tn?1424501878 This whole rash onset on Tues started as what appears to be intf/riba side effects from sweating. Then the shingles was triggered by the other rash. I feel fortunate to have this happen so early on before starting the PTIs. Are you stage 4? Did you go through tx? Did the antibiotics help with shingles? I have to check with my hepatologist at ucsf medical center regarding what I can take for it and what not to take.
Avatar m tn I have a rash that appeared on the left side of my rib cage six days ago (about 4-5 inches under my nipple). It is maybe 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches and consists of raised, red skin and roughly 9 bumps. The area wasn't itchy nor warm before the rash appeared. When it did appear, it was itchy, red and had tiny bumps. As of three days ago, it no longer consistently itched but began to burn randomly or feel as though it itched so much that it hurt.
Avatar n tn Hi JennyParker, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us but very sorry to hear about your pain. Did you have chicken pox as a child? Nine out of ten of us answer yes to that question. As Mellie suggested your symptoms sound like the beginning of a Shingles outbreak. Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox. The older a person is the more likely they are to develop Shingles.
1391312 tn?1421086993 A burning sensation and sensitivity to touch often precede the shingles rash by days or weeks. Acute Herpes Zoster (Shingles) Herpes Zoster (commonly called "Shingles") results from reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), the same virus that causes chicken pox in children. Herpes Zoster begins as a severely painful rash in adults when the latent virus that hibernates in spinal or cranial sensory nerve ganglia reactivates.
Avatar n tn My mother had shingles on her face earlier this year as well and her rash was red, and very painful.
Avatar n tn THERE IS NOW A SHINGLES VACCINE AND IT IS RECOMMENDED FOR EVERYONE OVER 60. IT REDUCES THE CHANCE OF GETTING SHINGLES BY 50%.
Avatar f tn I agree with Sally, if you suspect Shingles go to your doctor for treatment! Shingles can have some complications and some of them can be serious! Don't remember seeing you here before! Are you new here? If so, welcome to the forum and I hope you will stick around with us!
Avatar f tn Not long after he got a skin rash on his back and was diagnosed with shingles, but the rash comes back every now and then and has spread to a small area near his armpit. We don't live in the same state anymore, so we can't go back to that doctor. But recently, a friend of mine in medical school showed us a picture of a herpes encephalitis rash on a man's lower back that he saw in a text book and it looks just like my husband's rash...
Avatar m tn All I will say is that shingles almost never occurs in two areas of the body at the same time. I suppose the rash on her back might be singles, or the one on her foot -- but not both. 2) Genital herpes is very unlikely to cause rash in either location, and certainly not at the same time. 3) "Absolutely crazy" are your words; I wouldn't use them. But if not "crazy", you at least are scientifically wrong to be worried about HIV.
986422 tn?1249072565 About the time the scalp was clearing up and before the shoulders broke out, I found lumps in my lymph nodes in my neck. GP thought it was from the shingles rash but since I then broke out further I realized that it wasn't shingles. I still have very painful swollen lymph nodes and they swell and go down (although not completely) every day. They are getting worse and I am extremely fatigued. Could the pots syndrome be progressing into something more?
Avatar f tn The key to successful treatment of any sort is starting early––as soon as pain starts or a rash appears (the most common sites being the trunk, palms, inner arms and legs, soles of the feet, and the face). An impaired immune system can be a major factor in shingles, so the best treatment starts with the immune-boosting vitamins C, E, and zinc.
Avatar n tn Hi, If she had a history of chicken pox, this could be shingles or herpes zoster. Shingles is an outbreak of rash or blisters on the skin. The first sign of shingles is often burning or tingling pain, or sometimes numbness or itch, in one particular location on only one side of the body. After several days or a week, a rash of fluid-filled blisters, similar to chickenpox, appears in one area on one side of the body. Shingles pain can be mild or intense.
