Avatar n tn My son had been diagnosed with pneumonia 4 times in the past four months, as well as bronchiolitis in between. He has been treated with Rocephin, Azithromycin, and Amoxil. He has breathing treatments 4 times a day (pulmicort & xopenex) has had 2 episodes of cyanosis, and been hospitalized for low oxygen satuation, wheezing etc. His pediatrician tells me I shouldn't panic and that he has asthma. He is only 13 mos old!
Avatar m tn Also important is the severity of the Bronchomalacia, that can vary from mild to very severe. What the pulmonologist may have observed may be mild Bronchomalacia in the final stages of resolution. These are questions you should ask of the pulmonologist. I assume that she is a Pediatric Pulmonologist and should be able to answer your questions. The following statements are taken from The Kliegman-Nelson Textbook of Pediatric Medicine and, I believe, support reason for optimism.
1361044 tn?1277598308 They sid they would consider the Chairi severe if it was around 8mm. We have two Ped NSG appts. in two weeks. I hope they can figure out what is really going on. The reason I keep doing more research on this is that I keep hearing that Chairi is easily misdiagnosed and easily misunderstood. Any advice would be great.
Avatar m tn I asked my doctor if I could get the pneumonia shot this year since I struggled so much last year with my second bout of Pneumonia. He said I should only get the shot if I am 65 years old or diabetic. I do not want to struggle this year like I did last year. Am I too young? Am I not eligible? Is it a health risk for me to get this shot?
Avatar m tn Then they took a chess x-ray and saw that I have pneumonia. My question is can pneumonia cause all of this? Or do I need to worry further?
938718 tn?1323783514 Evidence that influenza can be more severe in pregnant women comes from observations during previous pandemics and from studies among pregnant women who had seasonal influenza. An excess of influenza-associated deaths among pregnant women were reported during the pandemics of 1918–1919 and 1957–1958.
Avatar f tn In viral symptoms appear gradually and are less severe in bacterial they get sick fairly quickly and have a high fever and rapid breathing. With treatment bacterial is cured in 1-2 weeks..viral will last longer. There are vaccines now .The type of anti biotic depends on the type of pneumonia she has , as she has only taken the meds for a few days I would continue as prescribed but if indeed she seems worse and her temperature climbs it may be aswell to have her checked out again ..
354236 tn?1196902187 I went to an emergency room, major city in Texas. I self-diagnosed as pneumonia; first thing they did was chest X Ray. I would insist on a chest X Ray. I think the stabbing pain MAY be due to the severeness of the cough. I read it can bruise ribs and in rare cases break them. Phys assistant seemed to dismiss the pain. An aide at the hospital mentioned that fumes & particles from "cement plants" in this area seem to irritate non-natives much more than natives....
Avatar f tn Same here.. I was in the hospital from Jan. 17-23 Pneumonia in my Left "lobular pneumonia" here we are now on Feb 20, 2022 and my left rib cage feels like someone hit me hard there.. but my 02 is in the mid 90%.. but it really hurts to cough sneeze as you say burp.. which sucks because I am supposed to be trying to cough up remnants of the phlegm, But coughing is painful so tend to try to suppress it.. I have a Lung cancer screen CT this Tues the 22..

Avatar f tn Hello, my daughter, age 3, had a bronchoscopy and CT scan after repeated bouts of pneumonia in the same spot, right middle lobe. This all started after a severe RSV/pneumonia hospitalization as an infant. Her CT scan was read as "mild bronchiectasis" in the right middle lobe, same spot as her atelectasis. We know for sure that her last bout of pneumonia in march never fully cleared, b/c we did X-rays every 3 months. So she's had this atelectasis spot for quite awhile now.

Avatar n tn My Friend has had Pneumonia, Empyema was in the hospital for a week while they weren't sure he'd made it through surgery then recovered, he was home for 6 weeks following the hospital stay and is back at work now. He is still experiencing severe pain during even mild exersise or any even mildly heavy breathing. He is having problems at work due to this and is the only one working in his household due to his wife's medical issues.
Avatar f tn E 6x days ago with sever stomach pains. Since she has been in she has been diagnosed with a severe bowel infection, pneumonia and from yesterday her heart rate has dropped to 42. Today she woke up and her heart rate is now 36/38- I understand this is VERY dangerous. The doctors have absolutely NO idea what could be causing it. Apparently its not her medication (antibiotics/ steroids) its not a heart murmur or anything else obvious, she also feels very dizzy and has chest pains- she is ONLY 27!
9062499 tn?1426957962 An adult can usually fight it off but a simple cold can cause pneumonia in babies. You should also have your spouse or anyone who will be in prime contact also get vaccinated.
Avatar n tn I personally have severe asthma and am currently suffering from pneumonia.
Avatar n tn Cosmetic shaping of the skull is not done in adults and is reserved for infants with severe deformities. External compression devices are also useful in infants, but worthless in adults.
Avatar n tn I work in the healthcare field, so I have some basic knowledge but nothing to do with lungs, heart or premature infants. I have tried reaching out to the hospital I was born in, but unfortunately they do not keep the records for that long. Please only serious responses only. I wish I had birth records, but am afraid they are forever gone. I have been told my lungs collapsed at birth, but have no written proof.
Avatar f tn I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.
