Common Questions and Answers about Severe jaw pain sinus infection

jaw-pain

Avatar n tn Have been having severe tooth pain for 6 days. Dr. says is sinus infection affecting teeth. Dentist says tooth has infection around roots, but says roots are in the sinus cavatity. Am taking antibiotics, pain killers (not helping at all!!)Pain has gotten extremely worse. The only thing that stops the excruciating pain is a sip of cold water washed over the teeth. The pain radiates to teeth around it on top and down in the bottom jaw bone.
Avatar f tn I had a severe sinus infection on one side of my face, which was fixed in sinus surgery. However, I also had severe swellin on the right side of my face which was still evident after the sinus surgery. As follow up work, I asked the doctor to look at any gland damage that may be a result of my previous jaw surgery, which may be causing the additional swelling in my cheek.
Avatar f tn Hi, combination of your ear pain and the jaw pain could be due to sinus congestion. There are many cases where individuals that suffering from sinus congestion also experience pressure in the ear, with earaches and even jaw pain. The earaches you are having may be an infection in the ear due to blocked sinuses. Other causes of aw pain can be due to infection of salivary gland like parotitis, infected foci, osteoporosis related jaw disarticulation or fracture.
Avatar m tn It feels like the pain you would have with a severe sinus infection along with all of my upper teeth constantly hurting, and the feeling of a deep ear ache. I am looking for anybody that has these same symtons and would like to know what you do for controlling the pain. I have tried several medications and none seem to help. I take pain pills regularly just because they are the lesser of the two evils but would love to find an alternative as the pain poills make me sick constantly.
Avatar f tn I really want this taken care of so I can feel better and I am so tired of having to take pain medication because the headaches, facial and jaw pain are so severe. Has anyone had these procedures done? I was told that expansile lesions are very rare in the maxillary sinus and they believe it occurred when the original dentist shoved the bone graft material into the sinus cavity.
Avatar n tn My asthma/allergy doc tapped on my face and I had severe pain and he saw drainage indicative of a sinus infection and saw that I have a deviated septum. This was a month ago and it was complete news to me. He wanted to do a head CT but first we tried Nasacort and doing a sinus rinse daily to see if that would help. It has not so I'm going back tomorrow.
Avatar f tn I have had severe sinus congestion for over a year now and have had a headache everyday as a result. About 2 weeks ago the pressure seemed to get worse along with painful swelling in all my glands from the shoulders up, and worsening post nasal drip. Now it hurts to even open my jaw and the antibiotics they gave me I can't take due to complecations with my UC. Any Suggestions???
1305767 tn?1361192676 Three days ago I started having severe pain in my right sinus, jaw, and neck. I went to the doctor yesterday and he gave me antibiotics only the pain seems worse now than it did before I started taking the antibiotics. I've been taking three ibuprofen every 4-5 hours and 5/500 hydrocodone and neither is working that well anymore. I just don't know what to do anymore and pain this severe makes me wonder if it's something other than an infection.
Avatar n tn That definitely sounds like a fungal infection. I've had a sinus infection and ear infection for well over a month now. It was so bad that I was going to the doctor daily for IV antibiotics. I was sent to the ENT who suctioned my ear and found I had a fungal infection. My ear drum also had a small perforation which affected my hearing some. He had me continue with the antibiotics and gave me eardrops. The eardrops smelled like vinegar and burned.
Avatar f tn My symptoms began about 2 years ago with back to back sinus infections. I consulted an ENT who spent less than 20 minutes w/ me & suggested a CT scan which showed minimal mucus lining in my maxillary sinus cavities. At that time I couldn't be assured it would help & ultimately decided not to go through with the procedure. A month or so later I had severe pain in my left cheek/jaw & then my gum began to swell substantially.
Avatar f tn This sounds like the pain from a severe sinus infection as well. A sinus infection can be VERY painful, and the areas you are describing are all part of the sinus tract. I would see and ENT as soon as possible.
659608 tn?1318289366 It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.
Avatar f tn I assumed I had an abscess but an xray revealed the sinus in my lower jaw was blocked due to infection. It is painful and theres a dull ache all the time.
Avatar n tn Gums on both sides began progressive daily swelling (x4 days) causing severe pain, also lymph node on right side jaw swelled. Pt had fever of 100-104 for the first one and a half weeks. Fever persists between 99 and 100 (controlled only w OTC meds). Swelling and pain to gums also persist. On the same day crown was fitted pt was diagnosed by primary care physician w viral infection (cold) and bacterial (sinus) infection.
Avatar n tn Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) rarely occurs with sinusitis but it has been described. The persistent congestion and your severe headache suggest that, despite the "clear" sinus x-rays you may have sinusitis or an infection of the sinus that has extended beyond the sinus walls. That you are still ill suggests a possible infectious complication. You would do well to consult with an ENT specialist and have a CT scan of your sinuses and the adjacent areas. Good luck.
Avatar n tn They said it could be a sinus infection. I can believe the pain can possibly be that bad. It left. Now I have exactly the same thing on the other side of my mouth. It is in the lower jaw/ bone/tooth. They said it normally is in the upper teeth. Has anyone got any answers? I am 200 mile from a Dr This discussion is related to extreme tooth/jaw pain.
496495 tn?1224609863 / 2 years ago I had a brain scan because I had headaches for couple of weeks. That was all clear except for evidence of an old sinus infection. My doctor has said that she does not want me to go down that road again as she feel's it is anxiety. I just don't know what to do anymore. Please help!!!
Avatar f tn The bloodwork was done because of recent onset of very severe 24/7 skull/head pain. All other symptoms were there prior to the headpain (neck pain, jaw pain, shoulder pain, disequillibrium, problem vision etc.). The head pain onset was 6 months after the accident and unlike any headache I've had in the past - currently taking round the clock Ibuprophen and sudafed for partial relief. Any insight you might lend would be wonderful.
Avatar f tn Have the Sam e thing.Got a sinus infection that infected my eye and caused upper jaw pain. And some in my ear.
Avatar f tn A week later, severe tooth pain, fever, chills, nausea. Made an appointment with my dentist. He concluded that I have a dental abscess and need surgery to remove a tooth. He gave me amoxicillin. Took that for 10 days. Pain goes away. Told me the infection needs to be cleared before surgery and to wait on my quote from my insurAnce. See my allergist again for follow up and he says to only come back if I have hives again and sends me on my way. (Not possible with antihistamines in my system.
Avatar n tn Since October, I have had inner ear pain, neck and jaw pain, and sometimes shoulders and facial pain as well. I also get headaches and sore spots on my head at times.
587537 tn?1220104892 got that 5 day medican, a week later took extrays again and still tells me sinus infection. My nose fells clear, my ears do hurt and my jaw aches, along with swollen gums, only on right side. Started more medican and more pain pills. Now there is another "bone piece" coming thru gum and I can not get to it to pull out myself, this whole thing is driving me crazy. Please Help. Advise is welcome. I am running out of vacation and sick time from work, not to mention money.
Avatar m tn It all started with severe pressure around the ear and jaw, following by excrusiating pain around the temple area. All on the right side. My doctor put me on migraine medication which did absolutely nothing for 4 days. I ended up in hospital after the 5th day as the pain was so intense and no pain killers gave me any relief. I had a CT Scan which showed a complete block of my side and back sinuses of the right side.
Avatar f tn A couple nights ago I started getting pain on my gum and soft palate (all upper left side). It was pretty bad, but it eventually went away and I fell asleep. When I woke up, no pain. But later in the day, it came on again, a bit stronger this time. It then went away and came back. When I woke up today (well technically yesterday it's 1:32 AM) it was a bit sore but no severe pain like before.
Avatar m tn joints in this area, which can cause severe headaches, eye/jaw pain, numbness in the tongue, or other strange pains and feelings around the head. The click in the neck has probably stopped because a joint that was moving abnormally is now stuck. This can lead to gradually worsening headache and other symptoms. The joints just need to be unstuck. Furthermore, I have to urge you away from using adderall recreationally.
