Common Questions and Answers about Severe acne head

acne

Avatar m tn ve had a similar problem and my dermatologist and I think my problem is connected to severe acne like breakouts of rosacea. I also will experience serious itching in one area of scalp. Believe I heard my doc mention seborrhea or whatever. I am doing much better now: use Renova at night and sulfa lotion in day for face bumps and no more bumps on scalp...or very few. I use a cortisone shampoo which has stopped the itching. Be glad your hair grows back.
Avatar f tn I had a ischemic stroke 2 years ago at the age of 22 caused by birth control. Almost immediately after the fact, my skin erupted in severe acne covering almost every inch of my face. I went on accutane to try and remedy the issue but even that only cause temporary relief. I have at this point, been on almost every acne medication possible but nothing has helped. I now deal with bad cheek acne that I never had at all before the stroke.

Avatar f tn I am struggling with a severe acne breakout recently. I can not figure out what it is from. It first started at both sides of my jawline, little white bumps under my skin that surfaced as cystic like whitheads. Now I have them ALL over my face. I have been going to a dermatologist for a long time and he told me it was acne and milia. He uses a needle to "zap and burn" them. Which leaves me with dark small spots all over my face like measles or something. They take 7 days to heal.
Avatar f tn For acne you the severity and extent of your acne has to be considered here. Acne occurs when the pores of the skin become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and/or bacteria. Apart from hereditary factors which may cause hyperactive sebaceous glands, certain diets (high in refined sugars and processed foods) and hormonal changes are associated with outbreaks of acne lesions. You may try using OTC bactericidal products containing benzoyl peroxide in mild to moderate acne.
Avatar f tn ve been taking mino for two weeks. My dermatologist prescribed it to me for my severe acne. Lately I started having an allergic reaction. My scalp, my palms in my hands, feet and my body started itching really bad. I feel like ants all over my body. I stopped now and took benadryl pills and it helped. So now, what am I going to do now to help fix my acne?! I don't like Accutane either coz I read bad side effects. Any suggestions? Thanks for the advice.
Avatar n tn I have severe cysitc acne that covers my upper back. I went to a dermatologist for this condition beginning at age 12. During the course of treatment I was perscribed Minocycline, Doxycycline, tetracycline, and sulfa based medications, all resulting in allergic reactions. I was finally placed on Accutane with positive results while taking the drug, however six months after completing treatment, the acne returned again.
429647 tn?1249753429 I shaved about 2 days after that. I now have a terrible infection on my scalp. It looks like severe acne and is all over my head. My Dr. put me on an antibiotic and hibiclense wash twice daily. It hurts, especially when I get this tingling sensation. They first thought it might be shingles but I guess they decided it wasn't since it was all over my head and not just on one side. Has anyone had this problem with their hair loss.
Avatar f tn For over a month now, I have been dealing with a couple of sores in my head. I just noticed it while washing my hair. When I was a child I had psoriasis, but I haven't had a flare up in 20 years. I didnt give it much thought, but two weeks ago they started hurting and the pain unbearable at times. They are about an inch or two, and deep. I am putting off going to the doctor because I dont have the money and I am embarrassed.
Avatar m tn ve suffered from severe sweating since the onset of puberty and also had severe acne as a teenager. For acne, I was prescribe 6 months of accutane - which did wonders for my facial/body acne. However, in the last couple of years I have struggled with controlling back acne. For sweating, when I was 20 I received botox injections in my forhead and armpits - which worked well. Not amazingly, but helped for sure. I had been getting injections every 6 months.
9868019 tn?1411157797 t had any of the symptoms I had with my girl.Which was severe nausea and morning sickness. And acne horribly. I used to joke and say I had pizza face. it lasted up until I was about 5 months and then my face started to clear. but before that everyone was saying that it was a girl because of those symptoms and Lord and behold when I went and had my ultrasound at 16 weeks I did find out it was a girl. so it may be true you may be having a little girl.
Avatar f tn For a number of years I have had tiny raised bumps on my forehead that never developed a head (unless I picked them) but were just filled with water or maybe oil. These have now spread to my back and are now driving me mad they are so itchy... One skin specialist told me it was from not cleansing properly, one GP said it was an allergic reaction and gave me antihistamines, another GP said it was Roscea and another said it was a form of Acne or Ezcema!
Avatar m tn Hello, These bumps on the head can be due to cysts or acne keloidalis nuchae. It occurs when hairs on the back of the head and neck grow into the skin, become inflamed, and cause scar tissue. These ingrown hairs usually occur following a short haircut on the back of the head and nape of the neck. Treatment of AKN includes suppression of the inflammation with antibiotics and steroid gels or intralesional steroid injections. So apply antibiotic cream like Neosporin or bactroban.
Avatar n tn This is a power drug for people with severe acne which has not responded to standard treatments. You may be considered for Accutane if you have experienced relapse or failure after trying 2 different oral antibiotics, topical treatments and an anti-androgen contraceptive pill (female patients only). Accutane must be taken for at least 16 weeks and provides a long term remission from acne in 80% of cases.
1165843 tn?1263018569 Hello, Cystic acne is the most severe form of acne. Cystic acne affects deeper skin tissue than the more superficial inflammation from common acne. Since they are severe, so systemic medications are usually required. The treatment consists of topical and oral antibiotics, tretinoin, oral contraceptives in females and Intralesional corticosteroid injections. Very severe cases may need excision and drainage. Also the treatment has to be taken for a long time so that relapses do not occur.
Avatar f tn I am a 19 year old teenager facing severe hormonal acne. I have been to a dermatologist a couple of times and have taken several kind of medications. I have also tried to completely fix my diet through drinking detox water, avoiding fatty acids and eating healthy. My acne has become resistant to treatment and isn't improving and I am worried about the scars. The treatment includes isotretinion, topical clindamycin, benzoyl peroxide and retinoids.
Avatar n tn Hi, Acne will have to be assessed and graded by your dermatologist. The less severe forms may require only topical medications. More severe forms may require injections and surgery. Seek consult with your dermatologist. Do not pick on the acne since this may cause scarring or may be infected. Keep your skin dry and avoid long exposures to heat and dryness. Avoid any irritants ,drink lots of fluids, exercise and get adequate amounts of sleep.
Avatar m tn So I've started getting these red bumps which sort of look like acne on my forearms. The bumps appear red and later on it turns into a white head and leaves a scar which is pretty embarrassing. These sometimes come and go it is not always there but I am getting worried that it might get worse. Avatar m tn treatment for acne. It is reserved for patients with severe acne which has not responded to other treatments, or who have relapsed after discontinuing therapy. It has many potential side effects but this must be balanced against the fact that 80% of patients experience long term remission from acne after one course lasting 16-24 weeks. Eloise.

Avatar m tn 1) I have had moderate to severe recurring acne since sophomore year in high school 2) I have been on two courses of Accutane which worked well, but did not prevent my acne from coming back, especially on my face 3) I have had generalized anxiety for about 10 years and it got worse after 9/11/2001 My Drs. don't seem to want to acknowledge my health problems and they don't believe the symptoms relate to a much more serious condition.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have a question about prescription drugs for dermatological diseases like local scleroderma, melasma, keloids, fibrosing diseases especially for black skin, vitiligo, psoriasis, severe acne... Does anyone know if there exist any topical creams which not only treat one of these diseases but can also make the blemish less visible in a certain way (covering, blurring, filling, color correcting…)? I really appreciate any help you can provide!
Avatar f tn Infrequent re-action to the drug is severe acne flare, raised blood glucose level, increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate, fatigue. Considering your skin's pre-disposition to form scars please make a careful, informed decision. ref:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isotretinoin.
