Serzone for sleep

Common Questions and Answers about Serzone for sleep

serzone

Avatar n tn My psychiatrist practices geriatric psychiatry and only uses this med for patients who have stopped eating since it makes most people want to eat. I thought serzone was taken off the market for causing liver disease, although the generic is still available. Maybe it's back. An alternative to serzone is wellbutrin.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your suggestion - I checked out the Serzone when you first suggested it as a possible medication but it was banned here in Australia - I have since checked it out again and it is still on the banned list.
Avatar n tn I am 38, I had a complete Major Vegatative Depression in 1997, and was more lor less bedridden for 6 months - Nothing worked for me except SERZONE ( Now Called Nefazodone ) I have been on this Medicine for 11 years - I have struggled with Depression BIGTIME and only ever worked for my Father and my Myself, I could work at my own pace and about 20 hours per week for Dad till 2005, then I quit because I was not relaible due to my Symptoms that have always plagued me, I hate the Morning, I sleep ab
1432927 tn?1283546704 There are known liver side effects for Serzone though and must be carefully considered with current liver function + follow liver functions while on it.
Avatar n tn Does Serzone cause weight gain and how does it affect your sex drive. This is my first time on this forum and looking for some answers.
1115705 tn?1258815104 She wants me off any sort of benzo except for possibly .5 mg to use as PRN and to switch the Serzone to Celexa. The Serzone has black box warnings about liver issues and is banned in many countires. But, overall it did give me my life back. There seems to be trend in my area against the use of benzos. I am hoping to hang around here a bit as we slowly step through this process. The wean down from Klonopin began three nights ago with generic Remeron being the subsitue.
Avatar f tn After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.
Avatar f tn A friend of mine had been taking the drug , Zoloft, for a month and she told me how much it was helping her. I asked my doctor if I could try Zoloft instead of Serzone. My doctor gave me a prescription for Zoloft . The product name of Zoloft is Sertraline.. I only took it for two days. To say it didn't agree with me was an understatement. I called my doctor and asked her to switch me back to the Serzone which she did. Zoloft made me feel horrible, majorily anxious.
Avatar m tn with no deppression i am now feeling deppressed and i think it is from a melatonine/5-htp combo, i know it is a seratonine uptake drug but i was on Serzone for 17 days and it made me extremely suicidal so could 5-htp be the cause?
Avatar m tn Many years ago I had to take Ambien, and Serzone for a period of time in order to get my sleep regulated. I had this "hypnic jerk" which would jerk me awake from sleep every time I dozed off. I was up for almost a week. Amben worked like magic back then. Eventually the Serzone took over and I could sleep without the ambien. Eventually I cut the Serzone and was still sleeping fine.
Avatar f tn I was better in 30 minutes. Went to sleep for 12 hours. I guess because I could not sleep for 3 days while I was off. I started researching xanax and benzos. Found out how very bad this drug was. 1 out of 8 are addicted in Australia. Most prescribed drug worldwide, xanax. I decided to come off. Took me 15 to 20 times of trying. I have been off for 2 years. Still have tingling in my nose and above upper lip. I am much happier. My mind can handle anxiety much better off of xanax. It's insane.
563594 tn?1309583132 5mg for the first 6 months I took it, it made me pass almost instantly, the only reason why I kept taking it, for sleep reasons, then during my hydro withdrawal, to keep the heebie-jeebie feelings away and for sleep again. I wouldn't recommend this drug to ANYone EVER. If I would've had even the slightest idea about what I was taking, I never would have. everyone kept warning me too, be careful with the xanax...I didn't listen!
Avatar f tn Well for the past two years i've been suffering from sudden periods of nervousness anxiousness, and well sudden loss of breath this happens like once a day everyday. i cant sleep at night im scared to fall to fall asleep it makes me panic i start feeling if im going to die. about my heart beat i think that somethings wrong too!! i get massive headaches that last for strong periods of time sometimes i think im going crazy.
Avatar m tn It started off as only visual symptoms, limited to my left eye. Just before I went on Serzone for depression, they started to get worse. I would see flashes/streaks of light, ghosting, halo's around backlit objects, increased floaters, the odd inability to maintain focus when looking anyone in the eye. And not for nervous reasons. Over the last few years, the previous symptoms have evolved into new ones which follow. Extreme sensitivity to moderately bright lights.
612551 tn?1450022175 s a possibility. Strangely enough SSRIs can make for vivid dreams too. I was on one once (serzone) and I rather enjoyed the dreams though.
Avatar n tn The only cause I thought later that might have been was I was taking generic serzone (since they took the name brand off the market for liver damage), but I'm not sure if the medicine I tooke was why it happened. It was said to be unusual to have one on my liver by a doctor, but not harmful. It is a collection of blood vessels.
Avatar n tn Hi all, I note a mention of Trazadone as being less addicting and helps blood pressure. I'm sure Summer123 wanted to share this information in good faith as Trazadone has been very helpful in her case. But my understanding from reliable sources is that it is in the same class as Serzone which was pulled off the market due to liver toxicity. Just because Trazadone is still out there I don't believe it is completely safe for everyone.
Avatar m tn In fact, my balance and vision and some other things are messed up from a drug I was on for many years for CFS. When I go into the doctors or hospital I am very clear with them. I am documenting everything, because if they attibute someting to anxiety when it is not, like they have done to me in the past with a couple serious issues, inspite of me KNOWING the difference between anxiety and a real medical issues, I will be sure that everyone hears about their mistake.
Avatar f tn I started on antidepressants when I was a teenager. In the span of 6 years I was on an entire host of antidepressants, with an intramuscular injection (during a hospital stay) being the only thing that made a noticeable difference. And that was, of course, temporary and transitory. I recovered on my own and was off meds for 9 years. Two years ago events led me to seek treatment again.
484508 tn?1290010544 It just occured to me that the dizziness started the am after I took Trazodone for sleep. I am wondering if the dizziness is really from the Trazodone and not the Celexa...I think I will not take it tonight. Interested in what you folks think....Please respond...
Avatar n tn Here is some information for you. Tricyclic Antidepressants ( ie amitriptyline, doxepin, nortriptyline, etc) can cause general gains of weight of 0.4 to 4.12 kg/month ( over the course of 2 to 6 months). I would recommend you speak to your primary care provider about the possibility of using an alternative medication to the TCA, possibly Wellbutrin or Serzone. I would not stop taking any of your medications without the express guidance of your doctor or prescriber.
Avatar m tn Seroquel is a serious drug for serious mental illness. It was illegally marketed by the manufacturer (who has been fined and sued successfully for this) for just about everything. So this isn't a drug I would take for sleep (taking any drug for sleep can be a problem long-term, so I hope you're looking for the solution and not just relying on medication) given the strong side effect profile of drugs intended to treat psychosis.
12796163 tn?1436135189 On this very website says is not recomended to take aleve and tylenol, i wouldnt take any drug that is unnecessary girls, ambien has so many side affect it can be bad for baby, u are almost due why not just sacrifice a little sleep for these last days of pregnancy, wish you good luck
