Serzone and liver

Common Questions and Answers about Serzone and liver

serzone

Avatar n tn My psychiatrist practices geriatric psychiatry and only uses this med for patients who have stopped eating since it makes most people want to eat. I thought serzone was taken off the market for causing liver disease, although the generic is still available. Maybe it's back. An alternative to serzone is wellbutrin.
1432927 tn?1283546704 There are known liver side effects for Serzone though and must be carefully considered with current liver function + follow liver functions while on it.
Avatar n tn The centers of my eyes felt like they were jumping, it was the weirdest thing I ever felt, I resumed back to the 200mg a day on day 6 and 7 and I felt better again like I am now - I PRAY my Liver tests are alsways ok, but I PRAY I can always take this med, or my life is in Serious Trouble, for me maybe not for you or others, I cannot handle the slightest reduction.
1115705 tn?1258815104 She wants me off any sort of benzo except for possibly .5 mg to use as PRN and to switch the Serzone to Celexa. The Serzone has black box warnings about liver issues and is banned in many countires. But, overall it did give me my life back. There seems to be trend in my area against the use of benzos. I am hoping to hang around here a bit as we slowly step through this process. The wean down from Klonopin began three nights ago with generic Remeron being the subsitue.
Avatar f tn After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.
484508 tn?1290010544 This time after day 4, I got hit in the middle of the night with horrible anxiety, agitiation, pacing and I was sweating profusely. I took my .5 mg of Klonopin which settled me a bit, but the next day, I felt like I was on the verge. My doc told me to take 1 mg of Klonopin and that settled me down. The next day I was better, but discontinued the Prozac and went back to .5 of Klonopin. I can't believe that a medicine can react to you totally differently when you restart it.
Avatar m tn Turns out it is BARDS and slight damage has been done. You want to watch how this progresses and follow up if it doesn't do away with the med changes.
Avatar n tn Does Serzone cause weight gain and how does it affect your sex drive. This is my first time on this forum and looking for some answers.
Avatar n tn But my understanding from reliable sources is that it is in the same class as Serzone which was pulled off the market due to liver toxicity. Just because Trazadone is still out there I don't believe it is completely safe for everyone. If Serzone is in the same class and pulled off the market, wouldn't you be cautious with the others in the group and drug companies have a tendency at times to withold data.
Avatar m tn with no deppression i am now feeling deppressed and i think it is from a melatonine/5-htp combo, i know it is a seratonine uptake drug but i was on Serzone for 17 days and it made me extremely suicidal so could 5-htp be the cause?
Avatar m tn I have been having progressively worsening visual symptoms for years now. It started off as only visual symptoms, limited to my left eye. Just before I went on Serzone for depression, they started to get worse. I would see flashes/streaks of light, ghosting, halo's around backlit objects, increased floaters, the odd inability to maintain focus when looking anyone in the eye. And not for nervous reasons. Over the last few years, the previous symptoms have evolved into new ones which follow.
362971 tn?1201987034 I have had hundreds of phone calls and emails from my clients who are successfully lowering their viral load and all of a sudden it is up millions of points. Many of them have one thing in common. They took Nexium, the purple pill you see advertised on TV for acid reflux disease. This time it was Carolyn W. In October 2006 her viral load was 143.000 Carolyn’s doctor gave her a bag with 4 sample bottles of Nexium, 7 pills per bottle, 40 mg per pill. She took all 28 pills.
Avatar f tn The one that worked OK for me was serzone but that was pulled from the market due to liver damage. It relaxed me and helped with anxiety issues. I had heard about the liver issues before it was pulled from the market so I started to wean off it myself. I was only on it 6 months so it wasn't too bad, then I started to see a counselor and started cognitive behavior therapy.
Avatar n tn Side effects of Lyrica including sleepiness, dizziness, blurry vision, weight gain, trouble concentrating, swelling of the hands and feet, and dry mouth. Lastly, Paxil can also be associated with weight gain. Again as stated before Wellbutrin has a lower incidence of weight gain . The average weight gain with paroxetine (Paxil®) for someone who weighs 150 pounds is about 5 pounds. Some people can gain much more.
Avatar f tn I am suffering from depression but I have Long Qt and am obese , diabetic and have svt's my GP has been unable to find any medication that is suitable - do you have any suggestions?
Avatar m tn I have been on SSRIs on and off for last six years for GAD and depression ... None of them has really helped me ... I went to my doc and he prescribed me Luvox ... that was the only one I have not tried ... Now the problem is I have extreme fear of taking SSRis due to horrible stories that I have heard that they may cause permanent sexual dysfunction also known as PSSD ... For that reason I am going to request my doc to prescribe me either TCA or MOAI ...
Avatar m tn I did have this problem many years ago, which is when I was originally given Ambien, and put on an anti-depressant (serzone), which helped. I have been stable without the Serzone for a long time. I decided to start taking B12, and Magnesium (oxide, crappy absorption) yesterday, and my mood improved somewhat, and some of the obsessive sensations I mentioned earlier have lessened. I have gone through several days of crying spells, missed work, and hopelessness.
681148 tn?1437661591 I have two lesions on my liver, one a hemangioma which likely isn't related and another the radiologist isn't sure what it is because it's only 8 mm & I don't know if the medication has anything to do with it or not. New drugs are scary anymore!
Avatar f tn Had eyes and ears checked, many blood tests and all are clear...have tried anxiety medication also and none were effective. Anyone else also suffering from the same condition?
Avatar f tn I have just started taking klonopin and I have always been a drinker, so i am nervous about liver damage and other problems like you speak of, but I'm afraid I don't have any experience to offer you. I do know that cold turkey withdrawal can be brutal on the body, so you have to wonder. But I also wonder about the damage of the combination of alcohol and klonopin, so I wonder about sleeping pills in the mix and imagine that, too could probably cause some damage.
Avatar f tn It all means you have damaged your liver! Alcohol and many drugs including those OTC are damaging to the liver. If you drink alcohol, quit for a month or so and your enzymes should return to normal. But be warned - increased enzymes means your lifestyle is damaging you and if you revert back to that lifestyle, more damage will occur. Don't freak out, just listen to the message and do something about it. Your liver has a tremendous ability to heal itself given a chance to do so.
Avatar f tn I was getting anxiety like dreams and it was horrible, my pdoc upped me from 200 to 250, and the dreams and some of my daytime panic attacks have gone. I rarely take ativan now. Personally Buspar did absolutely nothing. I have Social phobias as well. Do you have a psychiatrist? If you don't I really suggest you do, they are experts in med management. Since you've been on many of the SSRI/SNRI meds it could be a different diagnosis all together, and I'm not a professional.
1128643 tn?1262483649 Hello there, Cymbalta is a SNRI which mean it will affect your serotonin level but also your norepinephrine level which can be translated into adrenaline which results into a energy boost and less pain. I am on Cymbalta and Lyrica for chronic nerves pain due to compression of the suboccipital triangle causing pressure on the C2 originating nerves resulting in occipital neuralgia and myofacial pain.
