Avatar f tn i want to avoid being on anything that means I have to avoid foods, i have very little appetite due to my eating disorder and being on sertraline, I need medication that doesn't limit my diet EVEN MORE, as it makes things a bit tricky.
Avatar f tn The side effects that you are describing are somewhat common side effects many experience from this class of medications. Zoloft (Sertraline) and Celexa (Citalopram) are in a slightly different class known as Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) but are also used to treat depression with similar side effects. Cymbalta, another SNRI is a medication that may work for you.
581954 tn?1223391496 I have used this in the past and it is a type of medication grouped into SSRIs (Zoloft (Sertraline), Paxil, Prozac, Lexapro, etc. These affect people in different ways, so it is sometimes hard to say how each individual will react. I am a big proponent for these types of medications COMBINED with talk therapy. In my opinion, there is no 'magic pill' that will 'cure' you of anxiety or depression.
Avatar m tn hi ive been put on sertraline 50mg for anxiety ive only just had one tablet i feel horrible my head hurts ive got a dry mouth and my speech is slurry i cant live with this hopefully i can just stop taking it. citalopram did exactly the same to me i was on it for 6 months its not good i dont ever wanna take another anti-depressant again, will i be ok if i just stop after only one dose? i don't wanna do this again.
Avatar f tn I read that anxiety and stuttering are not directly linked and that it might be due to sertraline. Will this go away or will I just have to get on with it, and will this anxiety go away eventually or is it the sertraline causing it? Any ideas would be great please.
Avatar n tn Have you tried Zoloft (Sertraline)? I just went to a psychiatrist last week for the first time and asked about being on SSRI's when pregnant / nursing. She said Zoloft is safe for both.
Avatar f tn Hi I switched from Fluoxetine to Citalopram about 6 months ago as the Fluoxetine was making me gain weight. Since I've been on Citalopram I've put on even more, and am now about 2 stone (14kg) heavier than I was before I started. I don't want to come off ADs as they're helping me so much, but at the same time I don't know if I can cope with any more weight gain. Has anyone experienced weight gain with certain antidepressants then been able to lose with a different one?
Avatar f tn Is it normal to feel so physically fatigued and I’ll with anxiety and depression? Why did sertraline stop working after 3 years? Will ssri ever work for me again?
761423 tn?1237203290 Good morning everyone! I am new to MedHelp and to the group and thank you for the warm welcomes! I have a question about treatment for fibro. I was dx with it about 4 years ago. Tried the usual things like Ibuprofen and Tylenol, etc. which was temporary. Finally last month my doctor started me on Lyrica. Although the pain is diminished quite a bit, I feel like I am in a fog most of the time and it does nothing for my other symptoms, like depression/mood swings/etc.
Avatar f tn ( im at the end of my tether with my post natal anxiety
1305597 tn?1275336446 citalopram (celexa), fluoxetine (prozac), sertraline (zoloft). Another medication that is sometimes added to SSRI in the treatment of depression is bupropion (welbutrin) and it has even been shown to cause a small weight loss over the first few months (it suppresses the appetite). However, if the eating disorder you are is either anorexia or bulimia this is not an option because during clinical trails bupropion caused a slightly increased rate of new seizures in those two eating disorders.
Avatar f tn I basically started citalopram before bed and to be fair was coping ok, the next morning i was just getting on with things and then i just felt amazing like a complete shift in my fear and basically AGAIN FELT GREAT!!! i was quickly looking forward to life again and sure enough was doing great! This lasted 6 weeks 2 days before christmas my body just creased and then im battling extreme anxiety again. Needed sleeping pills just to get an hour or two. Tried 40mg citalopram but it was extreme.
Avatar f tn I live in the UK and I take 40mg of citalopram daily (I think the USA call in celexa? ) and I've been told by my midwives it's safe for baby and to use during breastfeeding, but comes with a small risk of pulmonary hypertension.

Avatar n tn I've been on medication for anxiety and depression most of my adult life - I'm 70, so that's a long time. Most of that time I've been fine. Last summer, the meds I'd been on for 3 yrs (citalopram) stopped working. By the time I realised that's what was happening, I was a mess - anxiety sky-high, depression the worst it's ever been. The GP put me on sertraline, which took 2 months to kick in, and referred me to a psychiatrist.
490426 tn?1286262753 Hello, I'm a 28 year old male living in Costa Rica, and have been prescribed Clonazepam alongside Citalopram for quite a while. I'm very concerned about the Clonazepam - if I try to stop taking it abruptly I can't sleep at all and heart beat seems to increase, and my anxiety and worries (be them irrational or rational) become overwhelming and my cognitive capacity decreases terribly. The same happens if I ever stop taking Citalopram.
Avatar f tn Zoloft (sertraline),, Celexa (Citalopram), and Lexapro (Escitalopram). Stay away from Paxil (Paroxetine) as that treatment has as much or more sweating than Prozac. Hope this helps...
Avatar m tn Now I have been taking SSRI (Zoloft/sertraline) for a month and a half, and have had three outbreaks since I started. Obviously I suspect a connection. I had a period of very frequent (every other week) outbreaks a couple of years ago - although I had had herpes for many years already then. When thinking about it, I wonder if it could have been at the time that I was taking SSRIs (Cipramil/citalopram) the last time...
1066610 tn?1255561474 why do i pull my eyelashes and eyebrows i know it has somehting to do with anxiety and stress but sometimes i catch myself doing it when im not stressed or worried about anything i could be watching a movie with my boyfriend and just start pulling
Avatar n tn ll see new warnings not to combine tamoxifen with certain SSRIs..paroxetine, fluoxetine, and sertraline. .... Women have a higher risk of breast cancer recurrence if they take tamoxifen along with paroxetine, fluoxetine, or sertraline... but NOT citalopram, escitalopram, or fluvoxamine. .....About 30% of women on tamoxifen also take an SSRI for depression or hot flashes. FDA will add new warnings..
Avatar f tn I was on citolopram (sp?) before and I found that it made me really nauseated, and when I went to my GP, he put me on what I am on now. Thanks again.
Avatar m tn I'm a 30yr old male. I was on Sertraline approx 10 years ago for depression and it seemed to work until a crash. For one reason or another over the years, my treatment has changed several times. It is 2011 and i have found my way back to sertraline. I am currently taking 10mg of buspirone 2x day and 15mg of mirtazapine for major depression and generalized anxiety. I have been feeling constantly tired, apathetic and despondent.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, three months ago I started with pgad, which is a condition that you feel unwanted sexual arousal, it is horrible, I couldn't even sleep, at some moments It goes away and others it will return. I went to more than 12 different doctors, anyone knew what was happening. I have ocd, this year is going to be my 5th year with ocd and with anxiety, with despersonalization and irreality.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking sertraline for mood swings and have been taking it for about 5 years. I also have recently been put on topamax for migraines. I have read about all this wonderful weight loss. If anything I have gained. Could these 2 medicines together be holding me back from losing> I would like to go off of the sertraline.
