Seroquel used for anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel used for anxiety

seroquel

Avatar m tn Seroquel is often used these days as an augmentation drug for all kinds of things, but it looks like a lot of it was fraudulent marketing by the manufacturer. So it's hard to tell how well it works for other than the two things it was approved for. The manufacturer isn't only being sued, the federal gov't has also taken action.
Avatar f tn Seroquel, as I understand it, is for bipolar, and is used off-label sometimes in addition to ssris for anxiety. Don't know anything about it being used for your situation. I've just started researching it, as my psychiatrist has recommended it to me in addition to Lexapro for anxiety. Seems kind of strong for just quitting smoking, though. Why are you still suffering anxiety after eight months? You're probably past nicotine withdrawal. Was smoking your only problem?
Avatar m tn Anybody know anything about Seroquel for anxiety and sleep? I am on 100 mg a night. Experiencing some side effects. What are normal side effects? I have only been on it two weeks.
766412 tn?1234893283 When I was taking seroquel, (quetiapine), I found it to be a really stabilising drug, I didn't have any real extremes of mood, and weirdly, never cried. My only problems were that I got very tired at times, and often got cramps in my legs, but after awhile taking it those things became less harsh. Good luck with it.
Avatar m tn You sent me a note, but I guess it's about this post. You don't describe the heart problems you're having. You don't say why you were on antibiotics or how long you were on them. You don't say how long you were on Seroquel or why you were put on it. This is an anxiety forum, but those aren't anti-anxiety drugs, so are you taking other meds for anxiety? Do you suffer from anxiety?
1349329 tn?1276985202 Seroquel is being used by many doctors for sleep - my doctor gave it to me to help with sleep after I detoxed because it is "non-addictive". The dose for sleep vs. "anti-psychotic" is very low - I was prescribed 25mg and actually split that in half. It worked very well, but I did not like the way it made me feel the next day, I felt kind of moody and groggy, but for short term help for sleep, it does work.
Avatar m tn I am taking Serquel for anxiety/depression. It is severe anxiety and this is the only reason I take this drug. The anxiety currently outweighs the concerns of the side effects of the Seroquel (and there are many side effects). This drug is a strong atypical anti-psychotic. It is usually used for BP1&2, and Schizophrenia symptoms. I am not a doc but I do not understand why a doc is prescribing this for a sleep aid. Also I have been on this for 1.5 weeks...
Avatar f tn Ive tried various sleep meds but the one i have found helpful is Seroquel. It gave me great sleep at 25mg for about a month until my body got used to it. Then I had to keep increasing, now im at 300mg!! I've started taking Cymbalta for my anxiety, but its made me SO ALERT, that its completely taken away the affect of the seroquel. Ive tried clonazpam, zopiclone, trazadone and some others with no lucky.... My question is, how do i stop my body from adapting to the seroquel??
574118 tn?1305135284 Right now I am manic with mixed states and rapid cycling. seroquel takes care of that. I saw my pdoc as i was convinced that it's time to add a mood stabilizer like the usual therapy. Back in time, I didn't tolerate neither tegretol nor lamictal. what is left is lithium or valproate. of course there are less famous drugs like trileptal, topamax,..... i took 2 pills of lithium and i had serious insomnia for 2 days, intolerable, dry mouth,...the usual.
874521 tn?1424116797 s depression which is responsible for the acknowledged 20% mortality in BP whether in BP1 or 2 especially the latter very pronounced. Now lamictal is good for depression so is seroquel which is often used as a monotherapy because it has an antidepressant effect. In mania seroquel is best, don't say lithium or tegretol, remember that in lithium NOT only drink a lot of water but plenty of water with flush it out, too cumbersome. Seroquel is best.
Avatar f tn I personally take Lamicatl Welbutrin Trazodone Seroquel These are my bipolar meds all though I do have physical health problems that I also take meds for. Do you have an anxiety disorder as well? I take the seroquel and trazodone for sleep and it works well. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn So I tried the trileptal 600mg and that works really well for me is for the same thing as seroquel, for bipolar or mood stabilizer I still take that every day and let me tell you that really helps my with the wds and puts me to sleep I'm down to 1mg and never felt the dropping been on it for 3 months hope that helps.
534105 tn?1226157177 Clonazepam is classified as an addictive drug and controlled substance. Seroquel isn't. I"m not sure why your doctor wants you to take seroquel -- you don't say why here. This is a drug intended for a limited purpose that was marketed illegally for all kinds of things, mostly for sleep because an unwanted side effect of it is a lot of sedation. You'd probably find quantitatively more problems quitting clonazepam, as it's one of the hardest of brain drugs to stop taking.
585414 tn?1288941302 Benifits,......less long term damage? Would this also address anxiety or would you still need a drug for that?
574118 tn?1305135284 I developed sever anxiety while tapering xanax so my Pdoc started me on low dose seroquel 25 mg BD to decrease the anxiety and said that he would maintain it for a few days and then taper and stop it while tapering xanax. But tapering these Psych meds is really difficult.I know you encountered the same anxiety while tapering Stelazin.I really had no anxiety problems since 10 years before this so it is withdrwal from Risdone and Xanax which gave me this anxiety.
Avatar m tn seroquel is a great crisis drug for some people but it isn't a good way of life..took it for months and hated the clumsiness it gave me (athlete) how lazy it made me feel..the overly numb feeling..the blood pressure drops..tardive dyskenisia which i get with most of the drugs lesser with anxiety meds than anti psychotics..Some people just don't do well with these powerful drugs and there isn't a lot of sympathy from people who prescribe them..Omega 3 pharmaceutical grade..CBD oil..
Avatar m tn Don't quit the Seroquel abruptly -- taper off it. It's interesting you were put on Seroquel and are suffering insomnia -- the only way Valdoxan supposedly works is by increasing the effectiveness of melatonin, which regulates sleep cycles -- in other words, if it works at all for depression, and the evidence appears to be soft, it's by improving sleep.
Avatar f tn Seroquel is BAD. Its an antipsychotic medicine and it has caused many people to be sick and there are higher reports of fatal side effects. I am by all means not a doctor... but I took this drug and I hated it. If you are scared of opiate withdrawals go to your doctor and have them prescribe an anti anxiety medication like zoloft. It has worked WONDERS for me and I am now on day 20 without opiates and I feel great. Best person to ask would be your doctor though hun. Good luck!
1029865 tn?1252418538 25 mg of Seroquel knocks me out. I take it for anxiety and as a mood stabilizer.
874521 tn?1424116797 Hi there, I am on seroquel and effexor, I am also on epilim for my bipolar, for me the combination works really well although my seroquel dose is 50 mg, i think there are two strengths of seroquel. But I find that the combination of seroquel, effexor 150 and epilim 800 after a lot of tweaking, crying, mania, thrashing about finally works. i have noticed though that i have stacked on the weight, but after some research have found that these meds can do that.
1305767 tn?1361192676 Personally, I have not heard of it being used for that as there are much more effective medications out there for anxiety. Also Seroquel can actually cause anxiety and panic attacks! I hope that your doctor asked you many more questions to determine if you had bipolar disorder than just about racing thoughts. Bipolar disorder cannot and should not be diagnosed only on the basis of that.
Avatar m tn I have been out of work for 2 months with bad anxiety, nightmares, dizziness. My physiologist prescribed zofoft 200mg. My question is about seroquel he has me taken 50mg at night. Is this drug safe and does it work for anyone . Just don't know about all the side effects. Please help if any information.
915369 tn?1355314810 I used gabapentin for pain and it worked quite well for that. My one friend says it is the first drug that has ever helped her bipolar. Its success rate with bipolar isn't that high, and it is almost always used with another drug. That being said for me it was side effect free so it may be worth a shot. The site crazymeds the good the bad and the funny of neurological medications (google crazy meds) has a sheet that lists gabapentin as an add on for bipolar.
