Seroquel side effects hair loss

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel side effects hair loss

seroquel

Avatar n tn Doing so can cause major withdrawals and horrible side effects. I have a link that tells you all about seroquel. I do not reccomend you read it, as it will only scare you off it. I did not even look closely at the page. But I will leave it up to you. Blessings - Blu http://www.rxlist.com/seroquel-side-effects-drug-center.
Avatar m tn I have a call into my doctor and he I will have to try another medication or perhaps go on a lower dose of the depakote (1,000). I had very few side effects, until recently with the hair loss. I would have thought I would have had the hair loss sooner. I have been on it since August. My Dermatologist thinks it's my alopecia. I had a history of that over the years. In my early teens and then again in my late 30's. I am now experiencing menopause. Maybe that is it too.
Avatar n tn I have been extremely tired, achey, and of course, the hair loss..Called the manufacturer of Seroquel, and yes, one of the "rare" side effects is Hypothroidism.. I have been on the medication for 5 years; but the dosage was "doubled" to 800mg per day over a year ago.. I haven't had a TSH test since increasing dosage and last TSH test result was 1.0...I'm going to see the physc, doc 1st to see what to do..I guess I'll have to stop the seroquel..
678069 tn?1254422777 Does anyone know what percentage of people on this treatment experience hair loss? Ive read a lot and hair loss seems to be a pretty common side effect. But just how common is what Im wondering. I believe I can handle the other stuff (Flu-like symptoms, depression, etc). Its the hair loss thing that really has me worried. Oddly enough, I have shaved my head since I was 12. BUT, there is an obvious difference between someone shaving their head and someone who is losing their hair.
Avatar f tn also lexapro says it causes hair loss. i couldnt find anything about seroquel causing hair loss. seroquel is my main drug now, i take 300mg seroquel and 300mg seroquel xr at night. so i told my psy doctor and he said i could start tapering off my lithium, so it took me 6 months to get off of it. anyway i had a postive attuite when my hair first fell out in march this year. i was told it will grow back dont worry by the end of the year it will be back to normal.

1246883 tn?1285547973 I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. Being 5'9" and weighing 135, I felt the 5 extra pounds would come off with eating better and a few more yoga classes . But the weight kept coming. I got down to a dietary intake of about 1000 cals. But that mad no difference.
1100992 tn?1262357216 You can always change to another med if you do not like the side effects of the one you are on. With regard to hair loss, I never experienced that and nobody I know of has either, in fact my hair grew thicker! I would never put anyone off trying a recommended med as we are all so different in our biological make-up. Give it a go and see how you get on.
Avatar f tn My Doctor just switch my medication from 150 mg of Effexor XR to 400 mg of Seroquel XR. I dropped my dosage of Effexor gradually but I still experienced terrible withdrawl. Now I am experiencing bad side effects, " I'm guessing ths", from the Seroquel. I have gained weight in my stomach area very rapidly, I have pain and stiffness in my legs, 24 hour dry mouth and sinuses and I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat.
Avatar n tn How long after taking gabapentin will the side effects last. I have hair loss. I stopped taking gabapentin about four or five months ago.
Avatar f tn I read what the publish side effect say, but it does say not all listed side effects are listed and itprovides a way to get the "complte list" I sure hope it doesn't include hair loss, I've lost enough hair already and just went on Flecainide today
Avatar f tn I've usually always take a mood stabilizer, ie. Lamictal & a anti psychotic, ie. Seroquel. I take them in combination or ill be extremely manic. I've tried depakote & the only issue was weight gain & slight hair loss. I haven't noticed many side effects w/ lamictal. I think combining lamictal w/ lithium is a good decision.
497950 tn?1255863927 I was put on Seroquel after some awful episodes and that stabilized everything - I was on Seroquel for 2.5 years. This summer I decided that I could no longer handle the side effects from Seroquel and so I went off of it. I have been on Lamictal for over 3 years (alone for about 2 months now) and things have been going pretty well. Lots of people do really well on Lamictal. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Well, I am no doctor, but it does not take a genius to figure out that when all of these side effects happen within weeks of starting this medication, that the medication is the cause. Over the years I have had a horrible time trying to lose weight. I am usually very skinny and I have tried EVERYTHING to lose weight and nothing has worked!
Avatar n tn Hair loss is sometimes a side effect of taking beta blockers. Not sure if there's a way to stop that other than changing medications. You have normal sinus rhythm but it's fast? How fast? If it's consistently over 100, you should talk to your cardio about that. It's not normal or healthy. Your meds may need to be adjusted.
Avatar f tn Everyone reacts to medication differently. A medication that might work for me might be disastrous for you. You might have started at too high of a dose or increased your dose too fast, you might be on too high of a dose for your body or it might just simply be the wrong medication for you. I would inform your doctor of these side effects right away if you haven't done so already.
Avatar m tn Some people experience few side effects and/or minimal side effects and others have either more side effects or more problematic side effects. In addition, many of the side effects are not constant. They tend to wax and wane, worse some days and minimal other days. Some side effects are more common than others and appear in varying degrees in many people taking the drugs. Hair loss is not uncommon according to the statistics. Hair loss among people taking Pegasys 180 mcg. for 48 weeks is 22%.
Avatar f tn The past several months the doc had me on Lamictal in combination with another drug -- first depakote and then seroquel. Because of bad side effects, he has eliminated the other drugs and wants me to take just the Lamictal 200 mg/day. I'm so happy about that! But he said we also have to wait and see if Lamictal alone will control my bipolar symptoms, and I may have to go back on the other meds as well. Anyone else having success with just Lamictal?
560402 tn?1235508894 I also kept my hair with Gemzar. But I do have to admit that it was a hard chemo for me. I was also on the 3 week on and 1 week off schedule. Keep in mind, as Gail said, chemo affects all of us differently. But after my treatments, I had about 2 hours before it started to hit me. I never experienced nausea or vomiting, but I felt really bad for about 3 days. The upside was that after I was on it for awhile, the side effects gradually started to ease up.
1286779 tn?1400012806 She went to a doctor yesterday about her hair and the doctor told her that it was because of this medication (Lydrica) But I have seen all side effects and none talk about hair lost. And my mother does not want to leave this medication because its the only one that works for her burning feet. Has anybody else expirence hair loss with Lydrica? She also takes Cymbalta 60mg,lyrica 75mg, Nexuim 40mg, and Tramabol 50mg. What do you all suggest she get tested for ?
Avatar n tn s merely the remnants of a cold. However, I am losing an insane amount of hair, above the average hair loss due to postpartum. Is this the combo of thyroid, meds and postpartum... I'm on tapazole 10mg daily dose. Is there something I can do? I had my blood work done on Friday and WBC was normal... does it fluctuate easily? I appreciate your help. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. If you have any further questions, I'd be happy to respond based on my experience with the drug.
Avatar f tn I have been reading the posts on here about post treatment side effects and I was wondering how many of you have had severe hair loss? I only treated for 24 weeks but had lots of problems throughout treatment. I am 2 and half months post tx. Anyhow my hair will grow for about 4 to 7 days max then it falls back out. Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar n tn I hope you will give us an update when you have spoken to your doctor. I can't help a lot in regards to meds because I'm still waiting for my lithium to kick in. I can say that I have had pretty minimal side effects so far - certainly no weight gain or hair loss. I haven't gotten acne either. We just increased my dose. I've been on it for going on three months now. The only issues I can think of are mild nausea and a funny taste.
Avatar f tn Hello, I was just reading about an older dog having a problem with urinary incontinence and the treatment she was given, particularly the possible side effects. My White Bearded Collie (13 years old) started being incontinent last year and my vet has prescribed INCURIN 1mg daily. This has been mostly effective (just the odd occurrence when she was asleep or distressed). I was just concerned that it may have some serious side effects such as those mentioned for the other treatment (PPA).
