1246883 tn?1285547973 I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. Being 5'9" and weighing 135, I felt the 5 extra pounds would come off with eating better and a few more yoga classes . But the weight kept coming. I got down to a dietary intake of about 1000 cals. But that mad no difference.
Avatar f tn My Doctor just switch my medication from 150 mg of Effexor XR to 400 mg of Seroquel XR. I dropped my dosage of Effexor gradually but I still experienced terrible withdrawl. Now I am experiencing bad side effects, " I'm guessing ths", from the Seroquel. I have gained weight in my stomach area very rapidly, I have pain and stiffness in my legs, 24 hour dry mouth and sinuses and I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat.
802234 tn?1237830136 My 34 year old son is taking 150 mg imipramine, 6 (1mg) Clonozapam, and 400mg Seroquel, (down from 600 mg) per day. His side effects are weakness, irregular heartbeat and eye problems. One of his eyes has gotten so bad that he may have to get a cornea transplant. I cannot say for sure if the meds caused his eye problems, but he had perfect vision all during school and according to my research seroquel has been know to cause lens problems in the eyes.
Avatar f tn Everyone reacts to medication differently. A medication that might work for me might be disastrous for you. You might have started at too high of a dose or increased your dose too fast, you might be on too high of a dose for your body or it might just simply be the wrong medication for you. I would inform your doctor of these side effects right away if you haven't done so already.
2010625 tn?1329372056 After I have been awake for a while they have slowly went away I am still a tiny bit dizzy, and drowsy still after 2 cups of coffee I just feel like I am not waking up still feel half asleep. Does anyone know if these side effects are serious or if it is something that will go away as I get use to the medication. I know I should be asking my doctor these questions but it is the weekend and my doctor is not in his office until Monday.
605458 tn?1539228808 I used to take regular Seroquel with no sexual side effects. I was recently changed to Seroquel XR and the side effects are so different than regular Seroquel, and one of them is sexual side effects. Anyone else? The other new med I am on is Amitiza, which is for Irritable Bowel Syndrome and didn't have sexual side effects listed. I have been under a lot of new stress lately, but that has never caused this problem in the past.
Avatar f tn It's difficult to find information on this drug, and there is some question as to whether it is a generic of Zoloft, but no solid evidence to support that it is. It's manufactured in India, and little information is available on it. It's linked to Seroquel another antidepressant. It does state that it affects the liver, but I couldn't find more specifics on side effects.
1696867 tn?1312609591 I started on Abilify for my Bi Polar 2 weeks ago. After 2 days I had to halve the dose, as the side effects were so debilatating (?), but the side effects are still horrendous. I have no ability to concentrate, problems focussing, shake/tremors and no energy at all. The only good thing is that my moods seem better than they have in ages. My question is, how long do I need to put up with the side effects?
534105 tn?1226157177 t have side effects than taking another very strong drug affecting neurotransmitters such as Seroquel. I just see that as a drug you take when you must, not just to make things a little easier. But you get to decide, it's your life, your doctor does not get to decide for you.
Avatar f tn So my question is, does anyone have any information about tapering off more than one drug at a time. I have always felt as though it would be best to do one at a time. But this tongue thing may become irreversible and that is why I am considering taper off more than one. Any links for info like this? Anyone have experience with this? Thank you.
Avatar n tn All of them give me side effects but the Geodone (Zeldox here in Canada) has the least side effects of the bunch so I take it. Risperadol made me lactate - that was a deal breaker. lol. My combo is trazodone, lamotrigine, and Geodone (Zeldox). It took me a loooong time to get to the point of stability. Unless you've been through the whole list of antipsychotics I'd keep trying to see if something works better than seroquel.
5544493 tn?1369608788 If the side effects look scary, go look up the full side effects profile for an OTC drug you use often (like ibuprofen), which will give you an idea of how scary the full side effects profiles sound.
Avatar f tn Seroquel is one of the 'atypical antipsychotics' that came out about ten years ago. They were first used for serious mental illness like schizophrenia, and then for bipolar disorder, and then for the thing we 'call' bipolar in children, that really isn't bipolar disorder.
8520825 tn?1398511460 seroquel is not to be fideled with. i hate it although i take 50mg it has side effects but no drug is optimum all have bad adverse effects. i wish i can get rid of it but as soon as i reduce the dose i get elated and my experience of mania is horrible. 1200 i never heard anything like this dose before. even 600 is large, no wonder you feel zombie. although i congratulate you for your capability to reduce the dose.
Avatar f tn re not psychotic they can cause all kinds of odd side effects. And any drug that affects the brain can have odd effects on a particular individual. You're right, you don't want to quit any of these meds without tapering off of them carefully, so don't just quit. But if your instincts tell you this started with the Seroquel, I'd trust them.
Avatar f tn It really is a mute point to tell you whether a particular drug works for us or not and what the side effects are or are not. The reason I say this is because everyone responds differently to meds. There just is no comparison between people. Ex, it seems that Lithium is getting a bad rap but it works for me and without any side effects or weight gain. Now I do need to take another med with it because it needs a boost.
Avatar f tn Before that I tried risperdone, haldol, and lithium and had horrible side effects from each. Currently I am at 150mg seroquel and 2mg Abilify (started about 2-3 weeks ago) and I just stopped dalmane 15mg yesterday.. So I had an experience while I was on 200mg seroquel around 3 months ago that I started to feel detached from my self, confused and disoriented. This happened and I my anxiety took over. I wasn't able to sleep more than an hour or two and I was wandering around the neighborhood.
Avatar n tn I would not recommend taking this while going to school, work or driving. Recreational use of this drug is i guess possible, but I would not recommend it for the effects of it are not pleasant or euphoric, rather they are dumbing. dont abuse this drug, not because its medically not recommended but because there is nothing really fun about it. And even if you could get any sort of a good high from it you would fall asleep.
Avatar m tn ve learned a valuable lesson -- taking drugs for their side effects can be really hard on people. That drug is very sedating, but the manufacturer would have been a lot happier if it hadn't been. But then docs started using it for that side effect, making insomnia worse in the long run. Hopefully time will take care of that, but take care if you're going to take these meds to use them safely.
Avatar n tn Seroquel does have side effects short and long term (as does any medication) but it should not be spoken about in the same category as an illegal drug. The atypical antipsychotics such as Seroquel are safer than the older generation such as Haldol because they are half as likely to cause tardive dyskinesia. They do have a potential risk of diabetes but you can be careful about that by keeping your weight and sugar intake in check.
Avatar f tn I really feel like I should NEVER read the side effects because it just makes me hesitant about the drug. I mean, it has anxiety, insomnia and trouble concentrating in it's side effects. These are all things I already have and don't want to get worse. Does prestiq even help with anxiety? Also, all the meds I've been on so far have caused sexual dysfunction. Meds seem to always make me feel worse rather than better.
698408 tn?1256958348 I am very sensitive to drugs and usually take the lowest does possible as I get all the rare side effects. I only take 50mg of Seroquel and thats enough to bring me down. She told me to look up info on the drugs and we'll discuss which one at our next meeting. I just don't know as the side effect from both sound horrible. Can any of you fill me in on the pros and cons please.
