I was diagnosed with Bipolar Type 2 last year and after trying a million meds, my perfect cocktail was Pexeva 20 mg, Lithium 300 mg and Seroquel 300 mg. I was happier than I had ever been, but the Seroquel caused major weight gain and major sleepiness-I was falling asleeo at work. I went off Seroquel and tried Abilify and one other (cant remember) but they did not work. I am now backon Seroquel 300 miligrams along with my Lithium and Pexeva.

I take 200 mg of seroquel to help me sleep if i cut it in half will it still help me fall asleep!! I only have 12 days left of seroquel and i can't see the doctor until the 8th of next month so i'm freaking out about not being able to sleep!! Please help!!

I was wondering if it is common, or even known, if doctors prescribe Seroquel or it's generic brand for help with sleep (versus the standard Ambien, etc. and other 170 different OTC and RX that are available). I did not see Seroquel on the list and see that it is mainly for manic depression/ biopolar disorder, etc. Thanks.

But my patient assistance was back ordered so for a few months ive had to get it at the pharmacy as the generic name. I just now got my Seroquel (brand name med) and I am having the same side effects I did when I 1st started years ago. Can it really make this much of a difference? Your pharmacist will tell you which generic brand your taking. As far as I know only malikroft is allowed to make the generic form of oxycontin. When you get a generic your RX bottle will list the name brand and the generic name under it.

I'm on 150mg of slow release Seroquel and I googled the interactions but theyre all big names lol. I have a cold and want to make some Neo-Citran (its actually a non-generic brand called Equate Hot Lemon Relief lol) and it has warning on the box not to mix with certain things but again I have no idea!

Actually Zyprexa is now available as a generic. If a person has an issue with the cost of the medication it would make sense for them to ask their psychiatrist for the generic form as its basically the same medication but not being the brand form would be far less expensive (the generic would be called olanzapine).

I had my seroquel during the day upped, and then switched over to the extended release which will work all day. I also had my lamactil upped as well, 5//7 nights it works well. I take ativan if I need it, but take Trazadone for sleep every night, it's not a tranq. like the other meds. If I've been sleepy without the Trazadone, I just don't take it, and haven't seen any adverse affects regarding this. You might want to talk to your pdoc about a sleep med switch.

I have been on all of those pills. When it comes to ssri's I have been through sooooo many of them. Zoloft didn't work, Wellbutrin made me shake so much I could hardly put my make-up on, cymbalta made my anxiety go through the roof, prozac made me too hyper and anxious, paxil worked then stopped, Anafranil was for my OCD but didn't work, even when I tried it intervenously. I also had combonations of these pills. I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN. All I can say is THANK GOD FOR LUVOX...

Ive tried various sleep meds but the one i have found helpful is Seroquel. It gave me great sleep at 25mg for about a month until my body got used to it. Then I had to keep increasing, now im at 300mg!! I've started taking Cymbalta for my anxiety, but its made me SO ALERT, that its completely taken away the affect of the seroquel. Ive tried clonazpam, zopiclone, trazadone and some others with no lucky.... My question is, how do i stop my body from adapting to the seroquel??

So i am day 10 of being sober off of a 6 year vicodin habit of 40 tabs of 750mg a day and cant get more than 3 hours of sleep a night. I just got a script from my doc for Seroquel and he says it will help with my sleep and anxiety. But he says it will be about 3-4 days of feeling pretty poor. I am feeling better every day and the last thing i want to do is go through 4 days of feeling like c r a p. I have tried Lunesta, melatonin and benadryl with no luck.

I was at my most suicidal while on seroquel so I refused to take it again. Probably not the seroquel that caused the suicidal thoughts - but why take any chances. If I remember correctly Risperadol is one that causes less weight gain as well (it also caused lactation for me - that is a deal breaker - talk about freak you out - I've never had children and there my boobs were leaking - and it can happen to men too! Now that would freak a guy out.

I have several different strengths of synthroid (every time they change my dose, it seems like they do it right after I've refilled my script) and none of them say "synthroid" on them. They all have the strength (100,88,50, etc) on one side and appear to be blank on the other side (either that or my bifocals aren't working well tonight LOL).

I had to D/C the Seroquel when my insurance changed and it wasn't covered. Lamotrigine gave me a rash, wellbutrin (generic version) made me irritable and snippy at everything. The seroquel (generic version) has been wonderful, although it makes me hungry but since I take it at night I try not to stay awake with it. Inderal (propranolol) gave me apathy so I am taking less. The new medication I was prescribed is Zoloft (sertraline) 50mg in the morning, trileptal (oxcarbazepin) 150mg twice a day. Seroquel and inderal are still the same.

ve been stable for 6 years on Seroquel and I learned how to use Trazadone as a sleep aide. The name brand is Desyrel generic is Trazadone. My doctor prescribes it as 50 mg and I can take one or two for insomnia. This prevents my mania, as it usaully starts out as not sleeping. I've heard of some people going 15 years without a manic episode. The right medication will prevent it and stay away from caffeine.

Just home from my primary care doctor and he gave me a prescription for Generic Zoloft. I will give that a try. While my problem has different root than the original posting this thread, I offer my experience with a walk down the medication trail. Don't like to take drugs, but if the depression is severe that may be the best path forward. Don't know the cost, but "Generic" suggests lower cost.

just how long and constant can these anxiety symptoms get? Mine never go away, I am in Canada and Doctors here tend to really frown upon giving anything prescriptions for sleep and anxiety for longer than a 7 - 10 day period. I really need advice if someone has had these lenght of symptoms please.

Does it really work? Because I have been given 10mg Diazepam and it hasn't helped that much with W/D's or stop the attacks. I have posted about this before and someone suggested that if I can't get Clonidine I should try to get Seroquel. I can't get into much detail on here, but I really need anyone who has taken Seroquel to PLEASE, post about how it made them feel, if it helped with W/D's? Did it let you fall asleep?

That's Cool! I'm still waiting for the funding to come through between the pharm co. and whatever federal programs might fill in. My insurance will cover NOTHING unless it's generic. I was supposed to get my 1st infusion last week. We'll see what happens this week.
