Seroquel for xanax withdrawal

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel for xanax withdrawal

seroquel

Avatar f tn But for a while i didnt take the xanax for about 2 years. I know its not withdrawal from the xanax because i already have stopped taking it before after taking it 3 xday for 2 years and never felt like this just alittle tried. and im taking the xanax now 1/2 in am, 1/2 in middle day and whole to sleep at night .25 mg. so with taking the xanax i should still have the side effect it was withdrawals from that.
Avatar f tn Have you seen a psychologist first? Paxil can be a tough drug for side effects and for withdrawal, and seroquel doesn't seem like an appropriate drug of first resort for you. Since your symptoms don't seem to be super severe, why not try therapy for awhile? Use meds as a last resort, not a first. They all have their own problems, so if you can get some help through therapy, maybe meditation as well, all the better.
663901 tn?1232649671 I'm not sure if I'm diagonosed correctly with bi-polar disorder. Between March and now I've tried several different medications. One of my main issues is sleeping and I was prescribed Seroquel. I took 200mg for several months and finally told the pdoc that I wasn't happy with it because of the weight gain and skin (terrible breakouts) issues. He switched me on October 14th to Geodon. I took 40mg a day for two days and then was bumped up to 80mg.
Avatar f tn Thanks for replying. I thought he was giving me the seroquel to help stablize my moods and help with sleep. A replacement for the xanax and ambien. Didn't think the seroquel would react in such a violent way. Took last 2 xanax Moday-a little jittery and sluggish but ok...just scared after reading so much about DONT go cold turkey. He is out of town -so er would the answer. Thanks....
Avatar m tn My question is whether it is alright to stop Xanax immediately even though I am on a similar dose of Klonipin and whether I may experience any difficulties in stopping the Xanax.I am on Seroquel 50 mg for anxiety.Thanks.
Avatar m tn seroquel is bad stuff man, i use to take it to get high years ago and i developed a stutter from that crap seriously, and yes it will knock you out for days at a time. mix that with xanax and ur just asking for trouble in my humble opinion, im no expert though, i guess from what ive read is it takes months for your brain to completely heal from an addiction, especially opiates so hes prolly just coping (substituting) one drug with another.
Avatar f tn I'm so sorry that you were prescribed this for insomnia. That should have never happened. This is an antipsychotic and should only be prescribed for such illness. 700mg is an incredibly high dose to just stop taking it at, even though you've only been taking it for a month. Unfortunately, most doctors don't know the withdrawal effects or how long it lasts because they weren't taught that and that wasn't studied, so it's really hard to find articles online about it.
Avatar n tn Never heard the turm " dusting " I take 100mgs. of seroquel @ bedtime + 2 one mg. mealotion, mainly for sleep but truthfully the next day benifits from the seroquel was a surprise.Pleasant. There is a extended release form that may work better for you and you might not feel so sluggish the next day. I would talk it over with my pdoc. and see what else is out there, before you loose too much sleep.
Avatar m tn 5mg to 1mg. I was taking the Xanax for almost two years. First two days on higher depakote and less xanax was fine, third and fourth i felt depressed, anxious, my head was clouded, couldn't concentrate, think, weird sensation on the face, diarrhea, weekness, sleepy, I was a wreck.
Avatar n tn I have been trying to come off xanax for 2 month. i was taking 2 xanax at bedtime to sleep. im now down to only taking 1/4 per night, and im having problems sleeping at night, the last 4 night i havent got maybe 2 hr of sleep.
202665 tn?1248806733 I found Seroquel to be a helpful antipsychotic and it had mood stabilization effects as well. It was somewhat sedating for me and I had to take it twice a day. For myself 300 mg. was the lowest effective dose and I believe that's true in general but you could ask your psychiatrist as perhaps they intend to raise it.
Avatar f tn Most likely you will have withdrawal with any opiate unless you taper or prepare as best as possible, for some people they are a miracle, but do your research first!!! Most of you are here looking for answers, like myself, so you're on the right track! I'm hoping to get pregnant in a few months and I WILL never put a baby at risk, so please wish me luck! Best of luck to all of you who want to be off this roller coaster!
358304 tn?1409709492 Thanks for the replies guys! Paxiled, why am I concerned about sleep? I can not function with little to know sleep after prolonged periods of times. Which I think makes me more anxious. And maybe it's not the fact that I'm concerened about lack of sleep. But more about the symptoms I'm having while im in bed. The adrenal surges feelings, the RAPID heart rate, the clammy sweats, the shaking.
Avatar n tn so for 20 years my doctor has prescribed me Xanax and leaxapro for social anxiety..... 20 years!!! Never once did I abuse my Xanax. I needed it I needed it to be me... Xanax was my morning pill to face the world for days at a time! I became addicted..:: obviously I was clueless after 20 years because I told my doctor they don't work they make me LAZY! So he took me off them::: I couldn't go a day! The withdrawl is so severe and last for ever !
Avatar f tn t kick the anxiety so of course I took Xanax and the doctor prescribed Trazadone for sleep. This went on for a few weeks until I could get in with a psychiatrist. At this point in time, waiting for the psychiatrist, taking abilify for mood and Trazadone for sleep I was very distressed, underweight, phobic, experienced bad separation anxiety, fear of losing control ( suicide, homicide), unreality, lack of personality. I decided to taper off the Xanax.
3166043 tn?1514260018 You mention doctor. You should be seeing a psychiatrist. Whoever you're seeing isn't very good -- you never ever ever want to abruptly stop taking a benzo, partly because it's an addictive drug that has a wallop of a withdrawal for most people and because it can cause a seizure if you stop abruptly. So that's for future reference -- don't expect your doctor to know what he or she is doing.
Avatar f tn m withdrawling off of lortab 8x day cold turkey i ended up having a seziure and the doc prescribed me lorazapan on top of my xanax and seroquel 50mg all 3 times a day to get through the withdrawal symtoms is this truely safe when i have p.t.s.d. n suicidal thoughts?
Avatar f tn Seroquel is BAD. Its an antipsychotic medicine and it has caused many people to be sick and there are higher reports of fatal side effects. I am by all means not a doctor... but I took this drug and I hated it. If you are scared of opiate withdrawals go to your doctor and have them prescribe an anti anxiety medication like zoloft. It has worked WONDERS for me and I am now on day 20 without opiates and I feel great. Best person to ask would be your doctor though hun. Good luck!
Avatar f tn t fall asleep in a half hour then take the other half. The next night take the seroquel and do this every other day for about 5-7 days then drop the seroquel xr. Anyone have any feedback. I still don't feel comfortable. Shouldn't he just lower the dose.... THanks.
Avatar n tn What is your husband's daily doseage of Xanax? Is that a total of 10mg a day of Xanax or 30mg. How long has he been taking the Xanax? Benzo's are a whole nother animal of addiction and not many know how to help you get off the proper way. Are you monitoring his blood pressure? I would like to help in any way. I've been/am there and had to do all the research myself. I've been written off by 3 neurologists. The damage from the benzo's are simply immeasurable.
Avatar f tn However, I did read an article published by the maker of Seroquel acknowledging withdrawal symptoms. If word comes out that Seroquel is physically addicting and causes horrible withdrawals, people probably wouldn't be eager to take it and sales of the drug could drop. Seroquel is huge right now, this website is covered in ads for Seroquel. As far as the insomnia, I took Seroquel before bed because of how sedating it was for me. After 2.
8520825 tn?1398511460 My experience with seroguil w/d has been horrendous. I was rx'd 200 mg at bedtime for insomnia. I was going through a suboxen and Xanax withdrawal and was rx'd seroguil for sleep. Now that I'm over the w/d from the suboxen/xanax, I wanted to stop the seroguil. I was on it about 3 mths and stopped cold turkey. I'm experiencing awful w/d symptoms. Flu symptoms, lethargy, insomnia, anxiety, can't eat. How long will this last.
736475 tn?1281259327 I was taking Seroquel for 4 years I was taking it for sleep. I have not been going through withdrawal for about 45 days I am taking two 6.25 and 1/2 mg of Ambien and it's not working I sleep for about 4 hours a night. I was giving this medication strictly for sleep I had no clue it was for other things until another doctor told me. I was taking only 50 mg and I cut it down to 25 myself because I was trying to get off of it I don't really like taking drugs.
377493 tn?1356502149 I haven't tried Seroquel but am tempted to ask my Dr. about if it may work for me. I am going through menopause (58 yrs old) and having anxiety problems along with high blood pressure spikes. When I feel anxious in my chest, then my bp goes really high, sometimes 180 plus / 90's. I also have this terrible insomnia and taking xanax .50 at bed time to help me sleep. It doesn't work very well, but better than nothing at all.
Avatar n tn I got cloidine, Xanax, something for my stomach, Soma for the spasms in ur muscle, and something for sleep. So far so good. You can feel the withdrawls even with the opana and morphine but not as bad. I was just so tired of depending on something in the morning. . I want to get better not worse. I want my life back!!! I was almost 4 years clean and a car accident messed me up. I'm ok I just had bad fractures on my legs. I got scars that make me feel ugly and it's hard because I isolate.
534105 tn?1226157177 I am now struggling with anxiety and mild insomnia mainly due to withdrawal. Dr. wants me to take 25mg of Seroquel (quetiapine) per day. Do you think this is a good decision? I do not want to be addicted or dependent on any psych drug, and I have heard that quetiapine also is a drug that causes addiction and withdrawal symptoms..
871560 tn?1240023175 s still out as to whether it was caused by just the alcohol/benzo withdrawal, overdose quantities of seroquel, or the seroquel simply didn't allow my brain chemistry to re-normalize on its own, and it was brought on by physical activity after being down for a week. seroquel is an antipsychotic not a sedative, and it can be contraindicated in some individuals.
Avatar f tn I was given Lunesta, which did not work, 25mg Seroquel which worked a little bit for a few days if taken along with 15mg Tamazepam. Then it ' too, stopped working. One night, I accidentally, took 2mg of Lorazepam and it worked great until Dec 1, 2010. I was put back on 100mg of Seroquel and it did not work at all. I took it for four days and quit. Next was Ambien CR, the 12.5mg dose allowed me to sleep for about 2 hours, a second dose would allow me to sleep for another hour.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, I would not recommend starting college right now. Personally, I wouldn't be able to make it. I couldn't even get my oil changed today because of the extreme pain, visual issues, and vomiting and flu like symptoms. It entirely depends on your body, how long you have been taking it, and how high your dose was.
