seroquel

Avatar f tn I personally take Lamicatl Welbutrin Trazodone Seroquel These are my bipolar meds all though I do have physical health problems that I also take meds for. Do you have an anxiety disorder as well? I take the seroquel and trazodone for sleep and it works well. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with PTSD and mood disorder. I am on a host of drugs that leave me zombie-like. I am taking Lamictal, Seroquel, Klonopin, Trazadone and Lithium. My Lithium dosage is 1050 mg a day. I am so tired and the weight gain and hair falling out are just two of the most troubling symptoms. My dr. doesn't even want me on an anti-depressant which I think will help. I am missing the occasional glass of wine. Do you think it is okay to have one while on these meds?
Avatar m tn There are also some other medications that are used as mood stabilizers although not approved by the FDA for that particular use and include, Lamictal, Topamx and Tegretol. The objective of these mood stabilizers is to control both the manic and the depressive states of bipolar disorder. Their effectiveness depends on the patient, dosage and other variables.
403156 tn?1290150018 For the mood chart, it would be nice to have the option to add medications ourselves. There are so many different meds out there, the list provided doesn't cover them all, and it would be hard to keep up with them. The option should be to enter the name of the med ourselves. The tracker is great, but more med options is needed. Is this function already there and I am not seeing it?
Avatar f tn Seroquel and epilim are very good medications for mania, anger, mood swings and psychosis. There are indeed others as lindahand says, though - lots of others. Seroquel and epilim are usually the ones they try you with first (or lithium instead of epilim). Seroquel is an anti-psychotic (also prescribed for anger and mood problems) and epilim is an anti-convulsant (also prescribed as a mood stabiliser). But talking therapy is as important as drugs if not more so, in such situations as these.
Avatar m tn Can anyone share if they also been diagnosed with a Bipolar Depression or with a Mood Disorder ? I believe that its more over BiPolar/Mood Disorder then anything else.
1044813 tn?1370494406 Hello all, I would like to request the addition of Seroquel (quetiapine) which is an anti-psychotic to the mood tracker. Seroquel is very commonly prescribed for the treatment of both manic and depressive episodes of bipolar disorder.
1115572 tn?1258804496 I am on Seroquel for Bipolar Disorder. Had 3 eye examinations, one of them at a community health check which said I have cataract and need operation. Second examination at specialist eye hospital - see no cataract. Third examination - slight cataract. I am 60 and the doctor at the eye hospital (before he came up with a verdict of "see no cataract" commented - cataract at 60? What is going on in this world? My father was diabetic which probably contributed to a stroke.
Avatar f tn Our son was under the care of psychiatrists for 14 years for bipolar disorder, and the only medication that completely alleviated his symptoms was methadone. He eventually received social security disability because even with the doctors' medications he could not hold down a job. The local methadone clinic was the only place he could get the medication from, but the price increases made it impossible for us to continue sending him there.
605458 tn?1539228808 And/or just an Other, because some people take medications like the antipsychotic Seroquel for inducing sleep when a person has a mood disorder.
Avatar m tn I started Seroquel for aleep a month ago but then it started to help lift my mood so my doc kept me on it. I can't tell you how good I feel. It takes a few days to get past the grogginess it causes I take it at night and I'm done-straight to bed. But the days are good now. I also take Abilify which also worked wonders but Seroquel gave me an unexpected boost in my mood. I 'm going to stay on it as long as the doc lets me.
574118 tn?1305135284 It depends on the specific person but Seroquel does have strong mood stabilization effects. It was complex for myself as a person with schizoaffective disorder or people I knew with bipolar with psychotic features as there a mood stabilizer and an antipsychotic was neccessary. With straight bipolar Seroquel being an FDA approved mood stabilizer should work at a therapeutic dose. You can see if at a proper dose you can tolerate the akathesia.
Avatar m tn Hi Tammy, seroquel (quetiapine) is an atypical antipsychotic and is often prescribed for bipolar disorder to address psychotic symptoms and for it's mood stabilising properties mainly antimanic, although it also has some anti-depressant effects. It is also prescribed for other things such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective, GAD or severe insomnia (because of the sedation, and in smaller doses). It can be sedating at first, but usually this lessens as you get use to it.
Avatar f tn hi i take lexapro too, but also take seroquel and seroquel xr as mood stabilizer
574118 tn?1305135284 I agree this is not the forum for a response from a professional but within my knowledge as a consumer I'll give you what I know as the question is not very complex. A mood stabilizer treats bipolar disorder or other mood disorders. That doesn't mean the medication was first approved as a mood stabilizer. There is only one medication that was originally approved as a mood stabilizer first. That is Lithium.
574118 tn?1305135284 The more I up my mood I sleep better and more calm. I use seroquel for up to 2 years to control my mania without affecting more or less my mood, so i don't an AD any more in 10 years. What irritates me is that I take 150 of seroquel. I add 1 risperidone. Actually they are equivalent; for each 1mg of the latter is equivalent to 100mg of the former. My problem is that I wish to reduce my seroquel a bit but each time I do this I have mixed states.
1029865 tn?1252418538 what is the base dose for seroquel to treat bi polar disorder. 50 mg knocks me out.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and have been on Seroquel 200 mg for approx one year. Since being on the med I have experienced extreme forgetfulness. My short term memory is especially affected and it's getting progressively worse. I don't think forgetfulness is listed as a side effect of Seroquel. I was wondering if anyone else on this med has experienced the same.
Avatar f tn Hi I use when needed clonazepam for irritability, I have Bipolar Disorder and I am on Lithium and Seroquel also, and Prozac when depressed, clonazepam when either low or high as an extra weapon to curb my snappy head. problem i find if used too regularly when depressed is it can make me worse.
569026 tn?1216982293 Taken several SSRIs in the past for anxiety. Adderall XR for ADD, Wellbutrin too. I have been seeing a therapist for about 4 months and he had me go for a psychiatry evaluation a few days ago. The two concrred that I am "complex" and could be a combination of BiPolar 2, Adult ADD and even...Borderline Personality Disorder (god I hate that name). Anyhow, one of the main symptoms we all agreed upon was the mood swings.
2080404 tn?1643113754 I have BPD and Bipolar disorder and have been on Lithium, Trazadone, Tegretol, Prozac, Zoloft, Lamictal, Seroquel, Ambien, and Abilify. They seem to work but they still don't stop the cycles enough, I'll have more okay days but will have two or three depressed or manic, all within a week. That's not counting the anxiety attacks that make me dissociate.
3178266 tn?1344536316 Symptoms of mania associated with bipolar disorder , racing thoughts, irritability, aggressiveness, agitation, Impulsive behaviour or excessively elevated mood. Trreats depression associated with bipolar disorder such as sadness, feeling guilty, lack of energy, loss of appetite and sleep disturbance. Avatar n tn If you need it for mood stabilization or antipsychotic purposes that's one thing. You might need to go back on it or ask about other options. If not the medication Rozerem is a sleep aide that works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle and is safe and non addictive. You could ask your psychiatrist about that.
Avatar m tn I've read and read and talked and talked and even personally experimented with my own seroquel dosing. I'm a card carrying bipolar and typical of such folk have tried everything out there in pharm-world alone and in combination. For me, Seroquel is the ticket. I have one problem. A few years ago I made a move to a more healthy lifestyle which includes diet, exercise, yoga, and meditation - all good things. I even went back to work.
766412 tn?1234893283 When I was taking seroquel, (quetiapine), I found it to be a really stabilising drug, I didn't have any real extremes of mood, and weirdly, never cried. My only problems were that I got very tired at times, and often got cramps in my legs, but after awhile taking it those things became less harsh. Good luck with it.
Avatar m tn I think depression is a sign saying we need to change something in our life, for me it was my health, so I take tons of different vitamins for mood stabilization and depression, and a long hard workout for sleep(and they work).
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm in treatment for anorexia and trying Seroquel XR 50mg to help with mood and anxiety. Really scared of the weight gain I've researched associated with it and have a strong history of hypothyroidism and diabetes in the family. Can anyone help?
Avatar m tn I am currently on Seraquel, off label, for bipolar 2/mood disorder and anxiety. 150 mg. I take it at night but not for sleep. I have been on it for some months now along with lamictal, celexa and klonopin ( 1 mg tid). The grogginess never went away so I asked to taper down. Well he cut my dose to 75 mg, and the anxiety ( in the am) is horrible. I am going to go back up to my old dose ( he had said I could do that if anxiety came back).
