Seroquel effects on pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel effects on pregnancy

seroquel

Avatar n tn I have been on Seroquel for quite some time now and I have noticed that my memory has decreased immensely. I was wondering if this is a normal side effect from the Seroquel? Also, if I discontinue using Seroquel, will my memory return to normal?
605458 tn?1539228808 I used to take regular Seroquel with no sexual side effects. I was recently changed to Seroquel XR and the side effects are so different than regular Seroquel, and one of them is sexual side effects. Anyone else? The other new med I am on is Amitiza, which is for Irritable Bowel Syndrome and didn't have sexual side effects listed. I have been under a lot of new stress lately, but that has never caused this problem in the past.
Avatar f tn Seroquel can cause temporary movement disorder such as akathesia and dystonia that can be treated with a side effect pill but what you are describing sounds more like withdrawal symptoms and ones of concern so you should speak to your psychiatrist as soon as possible.
1246883 tn?1285547973 I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. Being 5'9" and weighing 135, I felt the 5 extra pounds would come off with eating better and a few more yoga classes . But the weight kept coming. I got down to a dietary intake of about 1000 cals. But that mad no difference.
Avatar m tn When I was pregnant I was on serequel and my OBGYN decided it would be safer for me to stay on it then go off and put stress on the baby because I would suffer from side effects of bi-polar disorder. She really needs to talk to her dr. because everyone is different and her dr would know best.
Avatar f tn I believe that means it is possible for it to have negative effects on the pregnancy. I was also on hydroxizine and seroquel. I stopped taking mine over a month ago as we had decided to try for one more baby and I was afraid of the possible effects. I have 3 kids but wasn't on any of these meds before or during those pregnancies. Not only that but seroquel can prevent pregnancy. I'd definitely talk with your Dr's about it ASAP. Best wishes for you and your little one!
Avatar n tn i dont think im bp and the seroquel they put me on made me in a weird dream like state and a zombie. since the 3 months i have been on zoloft i have been great, few anxiety episodes and im driving again!! i was wondering if anyone has had that kind of reaction or experience.
Avatar m tn I am not liking the side effects on seroquel. So I am now going on Trazadone? I am addicted to benzos, so I can't take them. Does anyone know anything about trazadone for sleep/anxiety?
Avatar f tn Same thing happened to me a few times after taking the drug for seemingly no reason - limbs stopped moving soo sedated couldn't even speak and at the same time heartbeat went through the roof. Scary. However it hasn't happened for a few months now and I seem to have got used to it - perhaps the doc has started you on too high of a dose?. I'm on 500mg. These kinds of side effects are exacerbated by alcohol especially.
459981 tn?1212193981 so i was diagnosed with bipolar 2 disorder a little over a month ago and have been taking seroquel which made me worse than ever and it has been my family doctors recomendation to fire the psychiatrist and stop taking the seroquel and get back on an ssri medication. has anyone had this happen? my psychiatrist seemed very uneducated but most importantly would not listen to me about how this medication was affecting my body and just kept telling me to take more and more... Im confused.
802234 tn?1237830136 I would like for him to change meds, come off the Seroquel and maybe go on another drug (antidepressant such as Luvox) for his OCD. How long would it take for him to wean off Seroquel and start another drug? I feel since he started taking Seroquel in 2004, his eye problem has gotten worse and I would like him to come off the drug. I don't know if this will help with his eyes or not. Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.
794091 tn?1264986339 As regarding the antipsychotics perhaps after you stabilize your psychiatrist will allow you to titrate off one. Geodon has more side effects than Seroquel (which is more effective as a mood stabilizer) so see how you are doing in a while and speak to your psychiatrist more then.
Avatar m tn My new psychiatrist switched me to Seroquel 100mg which I started taking on March 20, 2009. My question is can Seroquel help me on my Klonopin withdrawal? There were nights I can't sleep. I read an article that Antipsychotics should be avoided may aggravate benzodiazepine withdrawal. Please read: http://www.bcnc.org.uk/drugs.html. I am scared, please help.
Avatar f tn Hi I am on Depakote and Seroquel XR 300mg. Haven't really noticed any side effects with the Depakote ( I started this med first) apart from stomach upset in the first few weeks. The Seroquel has been a god send to me too.. it is very calming, you do feel extremely drowsy for the first few months but this wears off, although I have never had a bad night since! I needed to be drowsy as I'd lost about 6 mths s leep over the summer with manic and mixed episodes..
Avatar f tn Seroquel is a pregnancy category C drug, which means several things. Category C drugs have only been studied in animal models, and showed evidence of birth defects and other problems, but there is no data on whether these affect humans. This also means that your doctor could keep you on it if he/she thought the benefits outweighed the risks.
Avatar f tn I too am bipolar and on seroquel. Seroquel is an anti-psychotic. Please don't let that word "psychotic" make you upset all though I admit it does kind of stink. I also take Lamtrogine or Lamictal. I've been on tegretal and it worked for a long time for me. There are so many out there. I personally take Lamicatl Welbutrin Trazodone Seroquel These are my bipolar meds all though I do have physical health problems that I also take meds for.
Avatar m tn But it is the only thing that has worked for me with my sleep problems thus i have stayed on it. Also the side effects of weight gain and some other negative side effects are the reason I would love to get off of it. If anyone knows of any medications instead of seroquel that might work.....
574118 tn?1305135284 It depends on the specific person but Seroquel does have strong mood stabilization effects. It was complex for myself as a person with schizoaffective disorder or people I knew with bipolar with psychotic features as there a mood stabilizer and an antipsychotic was neccessary. With straight bipolar Seroquel being an FDA approved mood stabilizer should work at a therapeutic dose. You can see if at a proper dose you can tolerate the akathesia.
518117 tn?1429276273 I ran across something on the net about Seroquel. It was another forum that I got the info about Seroquel. On this forum someone was talking about there being a tort action lawsuit against the makers of Seroquel. That it is causing excessive weight gain, diabetes, very high blood pressure in people taking this antipsychotic. I am wanting to know further about these complications caused by Seroquel. My 28 year old son has been on this med for approximately 4 years now.
Avatar f tn Seroquel is one of the 'atypical antipsychotics' that came out about ten years ago. They were first used for serious mental illness like schizophrenia, and then for bipolar disorder, and then for the thing we 'call' bipolar in children, that really isn't bipolar disorder.
Avatar f tn Currently Seroquel 600mg Tegretol 1400mg but have been on too many to mention in the past!
Avatar f tn I have been taking seroquel for about 5 years now. I feel like I have a handle on my mood swings and I feel great. A big downside to it is knowing you will always have to be on medication for this, and it will be hard to get off of it.
Avatar f tn ve been trying to figure out what is the difference between Geodon and Latuda in terms of side effects like weight gain and anxiety problems. On Seroquel XR my anxiety was completely under control but I did feel like a zombie a lot of the time and needed at least 10 hour sleep.
