Common Questions and Answers about Serevent seretide

serevent

Avatar n tn Recently, I had a bad virus and got bronchitis, its haning around pretty good (since October 2008). I take Serevent (it works for me) but due to the virus I have developed several nodules throughout my lungs and having difficulty breathing. My doctor gave me Advair. I am concerned. I take Azor for high blood pressure, I also have been exposed to TB (1987 took INH and B6 six months) I also have lactose intolerance, I take enzyme for. Should I take this medicine?
376995 tn?1223515507 oh yes thanks, i am currently mixing seretide + flixotide cuz i didnt want to waste the flixotide I bought (still have 6 vials), i started trying it out yesterday on my own accord. Not sure if it's plausible, since it's from the same company and contain the same stuff?
Avatar m tn First diagnosed with Bronchitis. Then Pneumonia. Then back to Bronchitis. The wheezing continued. Then sent to a hospital and diagnosed with Asthma. Prescribed many meds over the past year. For Asthma I was on Seretide 50/250 That too didn't work. I then went to another hospital and given a Spirometer test. It was perfect. I do not have Asthma. My doctor put me back on Seretide again claiming I hadn't been taking it correctly. Hence why still wheezing. He then sends me for a CT scan.
Avatar n tn our guidlines are 3 months in australia but many labs use the 4th gen test (p24 antigen / antibody) i just wanted to know would using Seretide (adviar in the US ) for asthma would that affect the test i know it would not affect the p24 part of the test but would it affect the antibody part of the test as i am having the test 28 days after last event. you cant realy ask dr over here they say 3 months and thats it .
Avatar n tn I have medium severity asthma and was recently prescribed Seretide. I have been on it for close to three weeks and I now have a constantly hoarse voice. I have followed the instructions and rinse my mouth after each use, I have gargled with various throat medicines and mouth wash, I have sucked on hard candy to produce excess saliva etc and nothing works. I am a stage actor and singer as well as receptionist for the company I am with and this has seriously interfered with my work.
312330 tn?1245176752 I was on it for over a year and then they switched my meds around to what they are currently because I was still having alot of problems with my symptoms...Flovent, serevent (essentially advair), singulair, zithromax and xopenex ( I am on several others but these are specifically for my asthmatic problems). Some people do very well on Theo...I hope that it works out for you.
Avatar n tn Yes, there are. Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) is one and Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) another. Each is a bronchodilator and capable of giving good relief of shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn Flovent is a corticosteroid for inflammation and serevent is a long acting bronchodialator. Serevent is the drug that can interfere with heart rhythm. When I started having symptoms in April, I stopped using Advair and now I only use Flovent. When I saw my pulmonologist I told him that I was only taking flovent (he had given me a prescription for both to use when my asthma got really bad.) He agreed with my decision.
Avatar n tn I am using combivent(4x a day ) and serevent diskus 50mcg 2x for my moderate severe copd, I have just started Flovent 50mcg inhaler. Is this OK or should I cutdown on the combivent ?
Avatar f tn If you do need a LABA as well, Serevent comes as a stand alone ICS. An LABA should always be used lin combinationwith ICS by asthmatics wheter in a combination med or as two stand alone meds. I hope that helps you. God bless.
Avatar m tn There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
746512 tn?1388807580 Might look into other long-acting beta agonists. Serevent is the LABA that is in Advair (Formoterol is available as Foradil. Salmeterol is the LABA in Advair). It's basically Flovent and Serevent in one Discus or inhaler. Symbicort is another combination steroid/LABA (Pulmicort + Formoterol). I don't know if any combination of those options would be better from a price perspective. Haven't heard of muscle cramps or menstrual effects with Pulmicort.
Avatar n tn It is also possible that some of the symptoms you describe, such as headache, shakes, racing heart, were caused by the other ingredient in Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) called Serevent® (salmeterol). Many of the symptoms you describe occur with panic attacks and are relieved by leading a healthy life style. If that alone doesn't control the panic attacks, there is good, effective medicine for treatment of panic and you should request it from your doctor.
Avatar f tn I was much wheezier on the new inhaler and was then given yet another one that gave me headaches, sinus problems and a fever. I have now been given a power inhaler called Seretide. I have little faith but I guess I will give it a go. Is there no other alternatives to steroid inhalers? The specialist that I went to today suggested that there could be a link between my asthma and my heart murmur (moderate pulmonary stenosis) but I didn't really understand what he explained.
Avatar n tn The inhaled steroid Flovent® (fluticasone propionate) has a half life of around 5 hours, so it would be totally out of your system in a few days. The inhaled long-acting bronchodilator Serevent® (salmeterol) has a similar half life, so it would be totally out of your system after 5 days. When steroid side effects occur, they may linger for weeks or even months after the medicine has been stopped.
Avatar f tn The x ray was alright. I was put on a stronger dose of Seretide inhaler. It does not seem to be working and I find it so hard to breathe properly. What can be the causes of this? I am really at a loss of what to do.
Avatar m tn I had tests done at 4, 8,12, and 16 weeks. The thing is ive been taking Avamys abd seretide both are fluticasone. I read that corticosteroids affect the immune system and they can invalidate an hiv test. I took the test while taking those meds ive took them for 2 months in a low dose of 0.36 miligrams daily. Would it affect my tests? And do i need to repeat testimg.
Avatar n tn This would include a long-acting bronchodilator, such as Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate), Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder) or Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) along with an inhaled steroid. Another potentially helpful, oral medicine is called theophylline. Your doctor may also want to prescribe this. You should have your blood oxygen level checked, in case it is low and you would need supplemental oxygen.
Avatar n tn Ive been using Seretide Diskus 50mcg/100mcg for about 5mos. and I'm having experiencing side effects of it like upper respiratory upper respiratory tract infections, throat irritation, ear, nose, and throat infections, ear signs and symptoms, sinusitis, sore throat, bronchitis, coughing, muscle cramps or muscle spasms, pink eye, sleeping problems, increased sweating. 1737159 tn?1316672635 my 4 year old son has been using seretide inhaler for more than two years, he is asthmatic and from time to time we got admitted in the hospital for asthma related incidents. His pedia put him into this maintenance but he still get asthma attacks, and he also using ventolin inhaler for occasional coughs. My question is : do this inhalers have long term side effects as they have been used for a long time?when is the right time to stop using this?your comments are highly appreciated...thanks.
Avatar f tn Do you think corticosteroids like seretide ( anti asthma) can increases hbvdna and sgpt?
Avatar n tn Here I take everyday a lot of medicines (SINGULAIR, SERETIDE, VENTOLINE, PREDNISOLONE, NASONEX, LORATADINE), especially Cortisone so I'm largely overweight (85 kg for 165 cm). I decided to diet 3 days ago, and i choose to follow the ATKINS program, which works really great with me.
Avatar n tn i have copd and found spiriva wasnt working for me, after several attempts at trying different things i was put on seretide 4 times a day along with ventolin and spiriva and this settled things down nicely. Go back to doctors and have a word with him/her and advise the spiriva is not working, they will try something else for him, good luck.
