I have asthma since I'm 4 years old. Curiously enough only in Portugal. Now I'm 40 years old. In Autumn and Winter it increases and in Spring and Summer it tends to slow down or disappear for a while.
Recently I had to go to the Hospital because the VENTILAN aerosol was not producing any effect.
Recently, I had a bad virus and got bronchitis, its haning around pretty good (since October 2008). I take Serevent (it works for me) but due to the virus I have developed several nodules throughout my lungs and having difficulty breathing. My doctor gave me Advair. I am concerned. I take Azor for high blood pressure, I also have been exposed to TB (1987 took INH and B6 six months) I also have lactose intolerance, I take enzyme for. Should I take this medicine?

The other possibility is that your shortness of breath is not caused by COPD or asthma but by another lung problem, such as clots to the lung, or from heart disease.
I take Advair, (Fluticasone propionate / Salmeterol) once a daily inhaled. My asthma is not controlled without Advair, but is stable with one dose daily. I would like to take Harmine alkaloids (Harmine, Harmaline), but I'm not sure if Salmeterol is safe to take with Harmine alkaloids as they are MAOI (reversible MAOI however) are they safe to combine? You are correct in wanting to wait until you have achieved optimum benefit from the Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol, before any consideration of oxygen use. The Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol may raise your saturation, to a degree that will make oxygen use unnecessary.

When I started having symptoms in April, I stopped using Advair and now I only use Flovent. When I saw my pulmonologist I told him that I was only taking flovent (he had given me a prescription for both to use when my asthma got really bad.) He agreed with my decision.
It was last February. I don't remember it exactly. I believe it also involved salmeterol, which is a component of Advair. It was recommended that they be used when nothing else worked, and then only for short periods. I do know from talking to people that inhaled steroids are often prescribed willy nilly for minor complaints. Been diagnosed with non allergic rhinitis, feline dander, housedust etc allergies. Also diagnosed with excercise induced asthma in the 90's. About a month ago wheezing. Advair is a combination of the same corticosteroid in Flovent (fluticasone) and a bronchodilator called salmeterol.
