Serevent diskus inhaler

Common Questions and Answers about Serevent diskus inhaler

serevent

Avatar n tn I am using combivent(4x a day ) and serevent diskus 50mcg 2x for my moderate severe copd, I have just started Flovent 50mcg inhaler. Is this OK or should I cutdown on the combivent ?
Avatar n tn Advair™ Diskus® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Powder contains 2 medicines. The inhaled steroid Flovent® (fluticasone propionate) has a half life of around 5 hours, so it would be totally out of your system in a few days. The inhaled long-acting bronchodilator Serevent® (salmeterol) has a similar half life, so it would be totally out of your system after 5 days. When steroid side effects occur, they may linger for weeks or even months after the medicine has been stopped.
Avatar f tn Thank u very much.which inhaler u r using now.i am using combitide50.
746512 tn?1388807580 I'd say it's the increased triggers. Advair can definitely be pricey. Might look into other long-acting beta agonists. Serevent is the LABA that is in Advair (Formoterol is available as Foradil. Salmeterol is the LABA in Advair). It's basically Flovent and Serevent in one Discus or inhaler. Symbicort is another combination steroid/LABA (Pulmicort + Formoterol). I don't know if any combination of those options would be better from a price perspective.
Avatar f tn While it is known that high doses, much higher than Advair™ Diskus® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Powder 500/50, of long-acting bronchodilator medicines, such as the Serevent® (salmeterol) in Advair™ Diskus® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Powder, can cause abnormal heart rhythms, this is rare.
Avatar m tn Ventolin or salbutamol is a rescue inhaler, that means you take this when you have an episode of Asthma. There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar f tn she the prescribed prednisone for 5 days 2x a day. and she prescribed a stronger inhaler which is diskus (which i was not able to buy) and also she gave me antihistamine for my clogged nose and also prescribed a mucolytic. after taking the pred for 5 days my breathing got better my cough was better my phlegm was just plain white thick phlegm it's the best i have ever felt for the last 4 weeks.
Avatar n tn However using a long-term control medicine, like Advair, Diskus (fluticasone/salmeterol), should help clear it away quicker. Sometimes this test is repeated after he has used a rescue inhaler like albuterol. When there is a 20% increase the test is positive for asthma. Advair Diskus (fluticasone/salmeterol) and albuterol as needed are recommended for the treatment for asthma.
Avatar f tn It did not work even after trying it a year. I was then given Advair Diskus 250/50, after 2 1/2 months called the doctor because of using emergency inhaler Albuterol Sulfate 90mgc min 10 times a day. Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent.
Avatar n tn My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. I almost died from an asthma attack last weekend. I had emergency heart surgery in June and have been having arrhythmias so I'm on a heart monitor for this month. I understand that Advair causes heart palpitations. Since I'm already having trouble with my heartbeat, I'm afraid to try the Advair.
Avatar n tn Ive been using Seretide Diskus 50mcg/100mcg for about 5mos. and I'm having experiencing side effects of it like upper respiratory upper respiratory tract infections, throat irritation, ear, nose, and throat infections, ear signs and symptoms, sinusitis, sore throat, bronchitis, coughing, muscle cramps or muscle spasms, pink eye, sleeping problems, increased sweating. Avatar f tn I am on Plaquenil 400mg Metoprolol Tartrate 50mg BID, Proventil HFA 2puffs every 4 hours, Flovent Diskus 250mcg (started one week ago), Nasonex, Augmentin 875 BID. I have had no problems with my cardio selective Beta Blocker prior to catching this cold. My peak flows are still in the High Yellow Zone and I am maxing out on my rescue inhaler and I haven't been on the Flonase long enough to provide control. But I am not wheezing...just stuck in the yellow zone anywhere from 360-390...
1679876 tn?1304743615 My son has severe asthma and uses a separate steroid inhaler (Flovent) and uses his ventolin inhaler for emergencies.
3086858 tn?1340852861 My doctor gave me two breathing treatments due to my severe wheezing at my appt. in which he discovered my asthma. He also had me on an Advair diskus for one week and an inhaler. I am still on a Levalbuterol oral inhaler. I was also getting facial hives, but they did not itch, I did not mention that to my doctor and from my reading I wonder if I should have. For the hives I was prescribed Zyrtec 10mg.
Avatar f tn My husband and I were putting on one of those window kits to keep out the cold air out and I became very tired and my arms and legs felt like they were burning. I use 2 inhalers a day, Spiriva and Advair Diskus 250/50 and use Albuterol inhaler as needed. I am 70 years old. I have never been real athetlic but I find I am getting weaker all the time.
Avatar n tn I had no fever but lots of mucus and severe shortness of breath. The doc tried me with a blue inhaler which didn't help. I have since had spirometry which showed no asthma but also couldn't tell me the lung function results because my lungs were worse at the time. I am now on a steroid inhaler for 6 weeks, before I go back to repeat the test. In the meantime, I am getting incredibly worried about this. The steroids have helped but my breathing just does not feel right.
Avatar n tn I have an expired Advair Diskus. Has anyone used theirs past the expiration date? If so, how far past the date, and what was the result?
Avatar n tn Recently, I had a bad virus and got bronchitis, its haning around pretty good (since October 2008). I take Serevent (it works for me) but due to the virus I have developed several nodules throughout my lungs and having difficulty breathing. My doctor gave me Advair. I am concerned. I take Azor for high blood pressure, I also have been exposed to TB (1987 took INH and B6 six months) I also have lactose intolerance, I take enzyme for. Should I take this medicine?
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
Avatar m tn The sensation lasts for about 2 minutes then gradually relieves my asthma on the whole. i Use a 250/50 Diskus. Also today i had a slight aspiration issue from what i believe to be GERD related but not yet diagnosed. acid keeps washing into my esophagus and twice today it got into the lungs and now i have a non stop sensation that my lungs are hot and irritated! I am officially laying off the hot wings! It's not the first time i have had this type of hot sensation in my lungs.
Avatar n tn was scripted Advair Diskus q.12h. for the SOB (shortness of breath) symptoms even though already had been taking occasional Primatene tablets and albuterol inhaler for seasonal hayfever and allergy symptoms of SOB which worked quite well). Had a nightmare the very first night - have not had nightmares in decades (with the exception of Bushbaby in the White House but that is a real life nightmare). Also became easily agitated, restless and quick to anger.
Avatar n tn m 22 and never really was affect by this coughing problem till now, i was started on asthma meds (seretide diskus, and singulair) but i still have the cough, i can control it to a point that my air way doesnt close up anymore but i still get coughing attacks when i laugh or talk fast or such can someone please help me do i really have asthma?
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed an albuterol inhaler, and usually only have to use it about 3 weeks out of the year. Otherwise, I take Singulair year round. This year the humidity is especially high. I have had trouble breathing for over a month now. I am a REALTOR® and am outside alot, and have been showing a lot of vacant bank repos with no air, and lots of mold and moisture problems. My inhaler ran out about a month ago (and was expired anyway).
Avatar f tn ) Prednisone should be a last resort anymore. Leukotriene inhibitors such as montelukast (Singulair), and Advair (diskus or HFA inhaler) are better choices for controller medications. There's other options, too, I'm just mentioning the two I use. Keep a rescue inhaler (albuterol or levalbuterol) with you when exercising, too. For me, and what my doctor suggested is swimming. It's good for learning breath control, and tends to not trigger asthma attacks caused by exercise.
Avatar n tn thanks for the info. Just so you know, I'm taking 'Singulair' (10mg of montelukast sodium daily) for allergies. For preventative purposes, my doctor prescribed me to take a puff of a 'Diskus' inhaler a day (50 mcg salmeterol, 250 mcg fluticasone). Also I take 500 mg Vitamin C supplements every morning. Those are the only meds I take routinely.
Avatar f tn I usually use advair diskus for my asthma but I no longer have insurance and I can't affor to pay for it? Is there another medication I can use that is not so expensive?
312330 tn?1245176752 I was on it for over a year and then they switched my meds around to what they are currently because I was still having alot of problems with my symptoms...Flovent, serevent (essentially advair), singulair, zithromax and xopenex ( I am on several others but these are specifically for my asthmatic problems). Some people do very well on Theo...I hope that it works out for you.
Avatar n tn Yes, there are. Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) is one and Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) another. Each is a bronchodilator and capable of giving good relief of shortness of breath.
