Avatar f tn While it is known that high doses, much higher than Advair™ Diskus® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Powder 500/50, of long-acting bronchodilator medicines, such as the Serevent® (salmeterol) in Advair™ Diskus® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Powder, can cause abnormal heart rhythms, this is rare.
Avatar n tn I have an expired Advair Diskus. Has anyone used theirs past the expiration date? If so, how far past the date, and what was the result?
Avatar f tn I usually use advair diskus for my asthma but I no longer have insurance and I can't affor to pay for it? Is there another medication I can use that is not so expensive?
Avatar f tn I have been cautious about creating any sort of quick, drastic, pressure change in my mouth but now, I wonder about the use of my Advair diskus. I take Advair on a regular basis for asthma and have refrained from using it in the 24 hours post-extraction because I figured the quick inhalation may dislodge the clots. Now, however, it has been two days post-extraction, and I wonder whether it is safe to use Advair without risk of dislodging the clots.
Avatar f tn When I saw my pulmonologist I told him that I was only taking flovent (he had given me a prescription for both to use when my asthma got really bad.) He agreed with my decision. Regarding my symptoms, I am waiting to see my cardiologist on Thursday so he can tell me how my 30 day event monitor went.
Avatar f tn It has become difficult to talk with the use of the Diskus. If I stop using it a few days my voice comes back. My Doctor told me to gargle, which I do when I rinse my mouth. I have also tried using biotene moisturizing mouth spray as well as the cream. Nothing seems to help. My employer is always asking when this is going to change. I want my voice back. Do you have any suggestions.
Avatar n tn Recently, I had a bad virus and got bronchitis, its haning around pretty good (since October 2008). I take Serevent (it works for me) but due to the virus I have developed several nodules throughout my lungs and having difficulty breathing. My doctor gave me Advair. I am concerned. I take Azor for high blood pressure, I also have been exposed to TB (1987 took INH and B6 six months) I also have lactose intolerance, I take enzyme for. Should I take this medicine?
312330 tn?1245176752 I took it years ago and it seemed to help. One thing I remember is that it did cause me to be a bit jittery, but I am sensitive to alot of meds. Doctors also monitored me for theophylline toxicity on a regular basis. I was on it for over a year and then they switched my meds around to what they are currently because I was still having alot of problems with my symptoms...
Avatar f tn How has it gone the past few nights? You have important questions that we urge you to speak to your health care provider about. Every patient and situation is different. I also am sensing your anxiety. This is understandable. This is something else to speak to your doctor about as a chronic health condition can be worrisome and naturally cause anxiety and before that begins impacting you more, it would be good to talk it through with your doctor and work on coping strategies.
746512 tn?1388807580 I have to walk outside to get to some of classes and if I pass more than one person smoking or get too many wifts in my face, my chest really tightens up and I'm forced to use my rescue inhaler. The problem is this has been an almost daily occurence and I hate taking ventolin that regularly. I am already using 800mcg of pulmicort a day and even at that level it has been giving me muscle cramps and messing up my period, so I don't want to increase it. Any comments?
Avatar n tn my 6 years old son had rad.
Avatar n tn My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. I almost died from an asthma attack last weekend. I had emergency heart surgery in June and have been having arrhythmias so I'm on a heart monitor for this month. I understand that Advair causes heart palpitations. Since I'm already having trouble with my heartbeat, I'm afraid to try the Advair.
Avatar f tn t want to start prednisone again because 10 day before I finish my pills of prednisone, and even simple exercise also exerts me , how to lose weight ?can someone help ? please..........
1425157 tn?1311651679 Flovent appears to be a steroid only. They don't work quickly like albuterol. They're for long term use and can cause some annoying problems like thrush (candidiasis). But they come with instructions on how to use them so you can avoid that. That's what I meant when I said my asthma gets out of control (the albuterol isn't clearing it up), then I use the steroid inhaler for a few weeks. No fun but it eventually gets my lungs back to normal.
Avatar n tn Yes, there are. Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) is one and Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) another. Each is a bronchodilator and capable of giving good relief of shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn The other issue with LABAs is that people try to use them as rescue inhalers. They are not designed for rescue use and take much too long to take effect for that to be safe. When you use a rescue inhaler you need immediate relief. Singulair is similar to an antihistamine, but it is an anti-leukotriine. It works against a different allergy chemical. It is safe to take the two together. It works best for lower respiratory reactions as in asthma.
Avatar m tn Will advair diskus 500/50 cause a false negative on a methacholine challenge ive been taking it for about a week now?
Avatar f tn com/Thyroid-Solution-Revolutionary-Mind-Body-Program/dp/0345429206 It is easy to read and written by a thyroid expert. Also if you do have thyroid problems you might want to avoid anything w/serevent or salmeterol (adavir, symbacort, there is a black box warning that this can be an endocrine disruptor. I hope this helps, achilles2 PS Also see if you can find a good chiorpractor he/she might be able to help.
Avatar f tn My husband and I were putting on one of those window kits to keep out the cold air out and I became very tired and my arms and legs felt like they were burning. I use 2 inhalers a day, Spiriva and Advair Diskus 250/50 and use Albuterol inhaler as needed. I am 70 years old. I have never been real athetlic but I find I am getting weaker all the time.
Avatar m tn There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar n tn Not all asthma medication are good for every asthmatic. In my twenties, Serevent started to cause me problems and I had to stop taking it. A few years ago, my asthma got out of control, and my new doctor prescribed me Advair. Every time I took it, it impaird my breathing dramatically. Thank God my doctor changed my medication. I couldn't understand why I reacted so bad to Advair until I learned that Salmeterol was another name for Serevent.
Avatar f tn m still on doxofylline and antihistamine. and i use the diskus after nebulizing. i feeling better but only a few hours after nebulizing. today after nebulizing a cpughed a little and a brown caramel like phlegm came out and it was the first time. also i have stopped smoking for 4 months now. i just wan to ask if i'm gonna be like this forever. i have a lot of things i need to attend to and it is affected by this asthma and cough.
1425157 tn?1311651679 your doctor relies on you to be able to communicate well about your symptoms and how your medications are working. I have had to bring ideas to the table many times. The more you know about your asthma the better control you will achieve as well.
Avatar f tn I would talk to your doctor about the side effects - advair has some nasty side effects that can be serious depending on age, health, other medications etc. There can be cardiac related things going on related to the medication or simple heartburn from it but it's better safe than sorry.
