Avatar m tn my right front tooth has been sensitive to cold, it has also been sensitive to cold air, when i would be outside and i would breath in heavly my tooth will get very sensitive. i have braces on top and bottom teeth (dont no if that could be a factor). i got my braces tightened 3 days ago and the sensitivity started this morning. i was thinking it could also be that my teeth have been moving around. i really dont want a cavity on one of my front teeth.
Avatar m tn Eight years is an unusually long time to have braces, so taking very good care of your teeth while the braces were on is imperative. A foul odor usually means there is decay but it can also be caused by plaque or food caught between the gum and tooth causing the swelling...and this needs to be addressed. A cavity and a rotting tooth ARE the same thing. You need to stop using mouthwash so much...using it this often can create problems instead of helping.

Avatar n tn A couple of weeks ago I began to notice that one of my molars was becoming very sensitive to cold and hot. It also hurt if I sucked air in and was sensitive to pressure. This tooth had a lot of silver filling in it. I went to the dentist and he x-rayed it. He said the root looked good. He also pressed on the tooth and surrounding teeth and this didn't really hurt. The dentist said he felt the tooth was cracked and he would put a temporary crown on it.
Avatar f tn Hi there, There can be many causes of tooth pain. The cause of toothache is inflammation of the central portion of the tooth called pulp. The pulp contains nerve endings which are very sensitive to pain. The pain can be caused by dental cavities, trauma, and infection. It can also be a referred pain from the jaw .A medical history and physical examination is necessary to determine the exact cause of your symptoms.
Avatar f tn So I've always had a tooth gap. I'm 19. I just noticed my tooth gap closed and there's a little pressure. I'm not sure if it can close naturally, I've never had any braces or anything. I do grind my teeth while I'm asleep and always have if that has any factor. I've also had all my wisdom teeth removed.
Avatar n tn When I was about 17 I started getting an adult tooth grow behind a baby tooth, at the time I didnt know my baby tooth never came in and I didnt have insurance so never took care of it.
Avatar n tn They recommended that I use Sensodine or some other tooth paste that is for sensitive teeth. I would definitely try that before I go let someone do a root canal.
Avatar m tn same thing its sensitive to cold and not hot but chewing near that tooth and if it gets hit with food it sends a shokcwave..how is your tooth now? did you have the permenant crowned yet? my appointment is june 18th and im going to have six new implant teeth and all my upper teeth crwoned..the only one that is upsetting is that left back molar..let me know..
Avatar m tn Would delaying for 6-8 weeks cause complications such as bone loss that would interfere with the braces and negatively impact or delay the alignment period? What is the maximum amount of time that can pass between an extraction and being fitted with braces before the consequences of delaying become severe? Thanks again for your help and advice!
718233 tn?1230272912 is it alright if i take the baby tooth out myself and then get braces from the dentist? and when the baby tooth is gone does this mean the adult tooth will not come down and replace the baby tooth? and will stay where it is????
Avatar m tn I suspect it may be from gum disease with a combination of the side effect for my late braces. I am a drinker and a smoker. Is it true that getting braces at a later age can have higher complications? Also what should I expect at my first dental visit after 30 years? Please advise.
Avatar f tn I'm just hoping that with the braces in, the tooth will be less likely to crack. What do you think? I live in Canada so I don't know if there are NightGuards for sale in stores. Do they work as well as custom made ones?
Avatar n tn I had the canine tooth pulled and then replanted the same day I got the braces put on, now the gap in the front top is gone...and I can notice some change in the bottoms. I had jaw alignment problems before....which hasn't changed yet, but it will. Don't get me wrong....braces do hurt....the first week was rough, couldn't chew well...then soon it felt that my teeth were loose....but plenty of warm-saltwater rinses helps for cheeck irritation...as does the orthodonitc wax.
Avatar f tn The dental assistant used something along the gum line that would be temporary, eventually wearing off. Currently, the tooth with the composite filling is hurting. Not throbbing, but aching. I cannot chew on that side, and I am also slightly swollen on my cheek in the same area. We are currently out of town. Wll return home tomorrow. Should I contact my dentist now or just wait for Monday, which is 2 days away.
Avatar n tn I would recommend seeing a dentist to get it evaluated. There may be a fracture of the tooth or some other problem and it would be best to ensure there isn't any major problem. Generally a tooth shouldn't feel shaky after braces even with the stress placed on the bone. It may take some time to tighten up but if that's the case, it would be a good idea to support the tooth as continuous trauma to the tooth wouldn't allow it to properly heal.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if it would be possible to find an oral surgeon who would put an implant canine in the open space so that I would not need to continue with the tedious process of bringing the tooth wearing the braces, which could take up to an additional 3 years. My ortho says no because a cyst can develop, but he admitted that the tooth can't possibly move backward/up into my gum any further.
Avatar n tn I have braces and I have been having tooth pain. I went to the dentist and they found out that an extra tooth is growing in an xray in my gum in a spot where my teeth are trying to close a gap. I had had a tooth pulled out of that spot before I got braces. I have all my adult teeth as well and am 17 years old. They also found an extra tooth growing in my bottom teeth on the right side. Is this normal? Also, they said they would probably have to remove it by oral surgery.
Avatar n tn Bottom jaw, inside mouth and behind the teeth, lower than the exposed tooth level: There's two hard lumps under my gums on both sides of my mouth, both are 4 teeth from the centre. The one on my right is almost twice the size as the one on the left. Both look white under the gums. I'm between dentists and am now looking for one. Is what I've described normal and I've just not noticed before or something else? The one on the right from a lamens point of view seems like a tooth.
Avatar f tn Hi, I currently have braces on and i will have them removed in about 9 months or so the reason iam posting this is because the gum line on my upper front tooth has receeded badly leaving the root exposed causing a great deal of discomfort. My orthodontist told me to wait until he removes my braces then he will recommend me to get a gum graft but it is really bugging me and I am afraid that it will keep receeding and I will lose the tooth or something.
Avatar m tn I recently had multiple cavities filled in my mouth following the removal of my braces (9). 4 front teeth are white colored. Back molars are some form of composite material. It has been about 5 days since cavities were filled. Apparently none of the were that deep according to my dentist, however my teeth are still extremely sensitive and the sensitivity causes my mouth to ache resulting in migrains and jaw pain. I know that my fillings are not too high because my bite is not interupted.
Avatar f tn Is it like growing to where it is rubbing your jaw? If so i know that ALL too well and with braces it's even worse lol i hated braces I'm surprised your ortho doctor hasn't told you about it, but there is this wax you can put on your tooth/braces to keep them from rubbing your jaw i always had a problem with my braces catching little bits of my jaw hurt like crap!
469210 tn?1219188128 I just saw my dentist for a few minutes to see about new retainers, had braces 5 years ago. After the braces came off I got 2 bridges. About a month ago I I bit down on some nice crusty Italian bread and it felt like one of the bridges crunched. It now hurts when I eating anything, especially hot or cold. Soooooo when I talked to her she was shocked that I hadn't been in, made me an appt for the 28th. All I know is that I am NOT getting it replaced.
Avatar f tn I need cleaning; fillings in at least 4 teeth; 2 wisdom teeth pulled (one grew in with a cavity); missing a tooth so need a fake one; and braces to push back teeth, pull together teeth, and spread some apart. I think one tooth has even started spotting brown towards the back. Also where one of the cavities is, it is on the side of a tooth that had already had a filling on the bottom of it and i am scared it might break the tooth.
Avatar f tn White spot lesions are also commonly attributed to having braces. People with orthodontic braces often have trouble properly brushing their teeth and the result is a build-up of plaque. The acids in plaque can severely harm tooth enamel and eventually cause cavities. The first evidence of this type of tooth decay is the white decalcified enamel spot or lesion that becomes apparent when braces are removed.
