Avatar n tn Be warned my friends. Zyban is not a drug to be taken lightly. I have seen the warning which says something like, "Do not take if you have epilepsy or are prone to siezures". Well, I do not have epilepsy nor am I prone to siezures that I know of. I have never had one nor any other major health problem. 3 Weeks ago, I started taking Zyban to help me quit smoking. Last Friday, I came home from work and was talking to my wife in the kitchen.
Avatar n tn Now she just drops without warning. No medication change helps. She has no other typical seizure characteristics as in the past. We were in the ER twice this week. A cat scan shows nothing...an MRI today. What is going on?
Avatar n tn He had a blood sugar of 73 when the paramedics tested him, but they feel that had risen due to the seizure activity. They felt that his blood sugar had been much lower. He was put on seizure watch for 1 week to make sure it was not a different condition. He hasn't had one since. It is a very scary experience. He does not remember the seizure at all.
Avatar n tn Evie, How long did your headache last and what did you do to get rid of it? I have migraine with aura which means my seizure prior to my migraine is a warning that the migraine is coming on. Blurred vision and nausea are systoms of a migraine.
1970885 tn?1435864028 Even what normally would have been a huge 'wake up' call, I continued to take it, but just learned how to manipulate my dosing to avoid another seizure. Mine is truly a horror story, but a serious warning to anyone considering taking this medication. Prior to taking Tramadol, I had no addiction issues. I abused alcohol and tried many different drugs in my college years, but never had ANY problem with addiction; absolutely more a matter of 'abuse' back then.
327385 tn?1378364331 it starts throughout the brain more or less at once). If you have a warning before your seizure, and if your face droops before your seizure, these indicate that your seizure may be starting in a specific area of the brain (likely involving the face area) then spreading to become generalized, leading to a grand mal. Whether or not a seizure is partial (another term is focal seizure) from the onset helps determine which medications should be used.
Avatar n tn My son 35 years old has just had a seizure during the night. This one has left him with very sore calfs and is making waking difficult. After 2 days this seems to be getting better but the other problem that occured is that his tongue is very mashed, cut and very sore so he must have been clamping down on it during the siezure. Is this something that happens and will it heal on its own and if anything can you tell us anything that will ease the pain as this heals?
Avatar m tn In the weeks following she began to have more of these incidents, which would come on with no warning, and each time her blood pressure would shoot up to crazy high numbers and she'd end up in the ER. She was referred to a cardiologist and neurologist who both did full work ups, EKG's and two EEG's along with a few more CT scans and nothing was found, though she didn't have an episode during any of the tests.
327385 tn?1378364331 some things i have to track are time seizure happened , how long i was in seizure, what if any warning i had before, bitting of the tounge or jaw, how long i slept after, any pain when i come to , if i had enough sleep , ate , took meds on time , if i was under stress , what kind of seizure i had , how i was feeling daily, had any trouble breathing , stomache pain after. my neuro wants me to track my moods and migraines and what i was doing before the seizure came on.
Avatar m tn You'll have to consider the nature of your seizures, what if any limits they impose on your life, consequences of having a seizure (for instance when driving), and weigh all that against continuing to take anti-seizure meds. If you do decide to stop taking anti-seizure meds, work closely with your doctor during the withdrawal period. That can be a slow and uncomfortable process.
Avatar m tn My Doctor says it is the Lamictal. I always have a warning and turn pale before the seizure and have some memory loss for about 20 minutes. The question is: Does anyone know what is possibly causing my seizures?
Avatar n tn She doesn't remember what happens after she comes out of it, but during that time she doesn't have any type of jerky movements. Is this a seizure? What should I do for her when this happens? Is there any support groups or place where I can get more information? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Then, about 6 weeks ago, I woke up staring into the faces of about 8 paramedics. I had a grand mal seizure in my sleep with absolutely no warning. So---please be careful. I am just glad it did not happen while I was driving my kids down the road. Now, I can't drive for 6 months. Better safe than sorry.
Avatar n tn This can determine where in your brain the neurons are over-firing, even if you aren't actively having a seizure. In some though, you must be having a seizure for the EEG to capture, depends on the person and type of seizure. Check with your neuro on the EEG. It is the definitive test for assessing whether or not you demonstrate seizure activity. Best of luck to you.
309199 tn?1237504252 can anyone experiencing blackouts with seizure"s please tell about it .i suffer from this but doctors dont seem to understand it ...........nothing new there .......
594907 tn?1227312764 I was initially trying to get an answer as to weather the auras were just the warning sings before the seizure, I found on epilepsy.com that auras are consider simple partial siezures. Meds I take are topamax, klonopin, reglan, maxalt. Tramadol (ultram) and effexor. The effexor is used for vasoconstriction, because when I get my episodes which are still quite frequent (like daily) my heart gets involed in the process and doesn't know what to do.
Avatar f tn In my teens was the first time I actually had a seizure and then vomited. It picked back up in my mid-20's around 2000 and was more fainting then throwing up with one time being escalating to a petit mal seizure. Originally, they thought it was neurological... years later they said it was a heart condition. I've had the EEG's, EKG's, MRI's, and a couple others I can't remember the names of...
Avatar n tn This is a seizure http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siezure "she gave me a glucose tablet and i felt better" This sounds like what you experienced http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diabetic_coma "I've been fainting A LOT recently, and getting headaches too" Its good you're seeing your doctor tomorrow before things worsen with your well being.
Avatar f tn The relationship between migraine and epilepsy is poorly understood but is thought migraine can infrequently represent a type of aura or warning that one is about to have a seizure. That said, obviously not everyone with migraine headaches is having an aura or is at risk for seizure, however the seizures do occur somewhat more in patients with migraine and visa versa. I would try to see a neurologist as soon as your able.
Avatar f tn Have you in a way trained your husband to disrespect you and to do as he pleases, knowing that you will always love him and always take him back? The seizure was a warning, not only for him, but also for you. The Lord has spoken! I think you need to "get" this message. What would you do if he had sustained permanent brain damage and became disabled? Would you be able to forgive yourself, knowing that you could have done something to prevent it?
Avatar n tn That way if another TTT is done, I could suggest it with some level of confidence. You had said in your response that you would not start seizure meds. and I hadn't even thought to ask you about that. I was glad you stated it because before they even had the abnormal EEG they wanted to start me on it, but I refused. Now, I believe I will be getting epilepsy monitoring in the hospital. More expensive, time consuming, and stressful, but more appropriate in my thinking.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm new to the site and have found it extremely helpful. I have had Type I diabetes for 10 years now, and have never come across something so useful before. Keep up the great work^^ Onto my question. A couple of weeks ago, I was taken to the hospital by ambulance secondary to a "low blood sugar seizure." I have no recollection of a four hour period before I went to sleep, and then 3 hours after I was found seizing and taken to the emergency room.
1653487 tn?1303527762 Any human being can have a seizure, although some people's seizure threshold is lower than others, for reasons unknown, perhaps genetic or otherwise. Usually, though, the seizure would be a reaction to a medication, for example, or some type of food/alcohol. But "epilepsy" is defined as one/two or more seizures which are unprovoked, or have no obvious cause. SInce your EEG showed abnormal, i.e.
1098760 tn?1266451497 it sounds like that you have an aura before your seizures. you can consider it as a "warning" that a seizure is coming.
193953 tn?1272078626 The smartest doc I have ever met came to see me and told me about this. Apparently, Ultram and Demerol can cause the same symptoms. I am still taking my Adderall and I am seizure free. Hmmmm.... Why do docs not know of this or at least check? I would have myself, but he gave me samples with no info sheets and I had no internet and I was in pain.
1889593 tn?1321040385 It could possibly be some form of seizure, or even mild epilepsy. You need to have him checked out I think. Can you video the event if it happens again? Obviously you might not get much warning but if you can, it would help the vet perhaps to see more clearly what's going on with him.
Avatar n tn of the seizure. As you rightly think, it is the beginning of the seizure. Complex partial seizure can start as a simple partial seizure. A few seconds of blank staring is an aura. That's when you feel you are lost in time. These are warning signs of a seizure.
