Avatar n tn She was seen at NYU and diagnosed with left temporal lobe seizure disorder. Her MRI is normal but the Video EEG did show spiking and slowing during sleep, off medication. She had a major seizure while there. Since (Oct. 99)she has had three episodes. One generalized and lasted 14 mins. The last two (within two weeks of each other) lasted only 2-3 mins and did not generalize. She is on 700 mg./day Tegretol XR. She has "visual flashes" about every other day.
211940 tn?1267884866 To all: I have written about this experience before, just two short weeks ago. Call it an "event" or an "episode" (whatever you wish). Last night, around 11PM, maybe sooner, First, my feet began feeling cold (on the inside, if you know what I mean), but to the touch they were warm. Next, I began getting tremors in my left arm (start, stop, start, stop, etc.
Avatar n tn Our 5 yo son is in a special education class (8 children in class) since he needs the extra attention. He seems to have some learning disabilities when it covers letters, numbers and reading, but subjects he's interested in he grasps and memorizes brilliantly. He has difficulty following directions, lack of respect for authority ie. parents and teachers, understanding the consequences of his actions and he is very stubborn.
Avatar n tn Within a half hour she is having a seizure that involves the left side of her body i.e. eyelid and eyebrow rapid twitching and mouth/cheek twitching. Usually it proceeds to include mostly the entire left side of her body. : : : : She has been diagnosed over the years with seizures, cyclic vomitting syndrome, basilar migraines (which may start the entire episode), and basilar migraines with seizure complications.
Avatar n tn : I hope that this information is helpful : : : Good Luck : : Thank you! But, can focal seizures be predictable as I described above? : : Also, what exactly is a focal seizure? : : Thanks : : Dear Stephanie's dad: : Focal seizures are a type of epilepsy that can be traced to start from one single area of the brain. For example from the left or right side, frontal or temporal lobe etc... : Some seizures are predictable if seen on Video or described carefully.
Avatar f tn A commonly overlooked cause of ADHD behavior is the absence seizure. During an absence seizure, the brain's normal activity shuts down. The child stares blankly, sometimes rotates his eyes upward, and occasionally blinks or jerks repetitively, he drops objects from his hand, and there may be some mild involuntary movements known as automatisms. The attack lasts for a few seconds and then it is over as rapidly as it begins.

He did pretty well the next two years while on phenobarbital.
Avatar f tn Total family education would be great, but at what point do authorities step in to take action. Do they wait until the child/minor is morbidly obese or do they try to prevent it sooner by stepping in before it gets to that point? Like in the video I linked, the teen was half a ton and could have easily died while trying to lose weight. They waited wayy too long before getting help and having him lose weight.
Avatar n tn They were never able to diagnose what caused it, but, either as a result or the cause of the coma, she developed a seizure disorder. Over the years, her seizures have been mostly controlled with medication. Upon entering the 7th grade, she began having seizures again -- only more so. She started having grand mal as well as focal seizures. Finally, her neurologist ordered an MRI and yesterday he told us she had Cortical dysplasia.

Avatar n tn I'm not sure what to make of the attacks you are discribing however, They almost have the flavor of a seizure disorder with the associated confusion. There are several tests that can help in the diagnosis. A transcranial doppler ultrasound may be helpful in determining if you do have a blood flow abnormality during various postural or head turning maneuvers. The flow in the basilar artery can be determined during these events.
Avatar f tn I have had a known seizure once when I was maybe 12 and it was just and absence seizure followed by a panic attack, but that could very well have been more of a puberty thing. All this could be nothing, and maybe all of the current problems are stress related, but if there's something I should look into to maybe help my poor head I'd really like to know. I really appreciate you reading this too. Thanks and I hope to hear from somebody soon.
Avatar f tn I believe that it was a seizure (I have some video of this too). That neurologist in that hospital said that it is definitely not MS (so I have 1 MS diagnosis and 2 not MS). He released me on a B12 deficiency (insert WTF here). When I was in the hospital, the only person who saw my problems walking was the ER doctor. Because of that, we started recording me walking when I have problems. It was so hard to walk. It took everything I had to walk.
1627868 tn?1333889942 I became a teacher late in life and worked hard to get my certificates to teach in further education. These are not the same as working in primary school etc but still hard. My proudest moment was when i had to TEACH a subject on communication in front of the exam board representative. This person actually videod me teaching my class. She was so impressed with my teaching method that they still use my video as a BEST PRACTICE for all the new training teachers lol. I have 9 grandkids.
15480 tn?1302533402 She never stopped breathing just labored breathing and her seizure was not a shaking seizure but a eyes rolling limp seizure.... We learned CPR right after that and it did happen again and you know what I did - I ran out of the house screaming for help from the mailman. CPR is uselss on your own child.
Avatar n tn //www.whale.to/a/adv.html but rearranged in order. The other thing is a video about vaccines http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MTifzl8BOI Down the side it says This stunning censored interview conducted by medical historian Edward Shorter for WGBH public television (Boston) and Blackwell Science was cut from The Health Century due to its huge liability--the admission that Merck drug company vaccines have traditionally been injecting cancer viruses (SV40 and others) in people worldwide.
Avatar n tn It is now 1 yr and 2 months later and eventhough, I feel I am doing well, a seizure disorder study has been ordered including an invasive procedure of placing plastic strips under possibly affected brain areas. Depending on outcome, surgery may be recommended to remove the part or parts of the brain causing the seizures.. My brain tumor overlapped both the 3 and 4th cranial nerves on the right side of the brain. I have since had surgery to help correct double vision to not much avail.

163305 tn?1333672171 Pain control for sure, but it also has shown to ease symptoms associated with Parkinson's, seizure disorders and the like. There was a little girl having upward of 300 seizures a week. Any one of them could have meant the end for her, and she had no quality of life. I believe she was 3 or so. I can't remember the name of the disorder she had, but this poor child - it was awful. Doctors had tried everything, including some medications that in themselves could be life threatening.
163305 tn?1333672171 Google cited letters from city leaders across the country who were adamant that high-speed internet is essential for innovation, education, and economic growth. Medin was quick to point out that Google Fiber projects might not work out in every city invited to sign up. "But, cities who go through this process with us will be more prepared for us or any provider who wants to build a fiber network," he said.
Avatar f tn YouTube has a video on this-check it out! Yours seems to be positive though. Hypothyroidism When I had been studying Dr.Barnes work (regarding hypothyroidism) in the past, one particular finding stayed with me: From ALL the thousands of patients he treated for hypothyroid (using natural desiccated thyroid ) NONE of these patients developed Lupus. The ones who had been already diagnosed with Lupus, NONE developed any new signs of organ involvement, while being treated by Dr.
Avatar f tn I need more of an education about these siezures..... I hope that he will get better with medication and will also improve speech and other autistic behaviors...... Anybody what to help me here?????
544292 tn?1268886268 Theres a lot of conflicting information about seizures on the list. I've never seen anYone have a seizure in tramadol WITHDRAWAL. Have seen several people have seizures when TAKING tramadol. AND, every tramadol related seizure I saw did not seem related to how high a dose the person was taking; RATHER was in instances where someone markedly INCREASED their dose. I think the confusion is in that seizures are common when withdrawing from sedatives (alcohol, barbiturates, benzodiazapines etc).
163305 tn?1333672171 I have a friend who's looking for a job. His current job is stressing him out so much he had a seizure at work. He tells me in his latest interview he was getting hammered in a technical interview and he said 'I just wanted out of the room, I didn't know what to say or do.' I told him he should have gone into a seizure and fell on the floor flopping around. I laughed quite hard for a good minute to silence on the other end of the phone followed by an 'anyway'.
