316350 tn?1193628295 look up 'temporal lobe seizures and de ja vu' on the internet. if you have a seizure while you're having your video eeg, they will be able to tell you where the seizure is coming from. then, your treatment options will increase. you could be a candidate for surgery. all seizures have the potential to get worse. you must get control of this. you're having more than just mild seizures. those 2 words don't even sound right together.. 'oh, your brain is missfireing, only mildly though'.
Avatar f tn He's is developing normally and is on track with all of his milestones. Here's a video of him http://www.youtube.com/watch?
Avatar n tn I am a 35 yr old female that 2 yrs ago starting having seizure like activity I have had several EEG's and did a 5 day EEG video monitoring. Apparently I was physically having seizures but EEG did not show one. I still physically have seizures or something that looks like a seizure. Mostly I do not loose contiousness however I am not always able to communicate depending on what part of my body is seizing.
Avatar n tn an event in the next few days so that we can look at the EEG and video to see if it's a real seizure. If she has a spell and the EEG is completely normal, then it's unlikely that these are really seizures. They may represent stress, psychological problems, or even cardiac problems (although usually there's an EKG attached too). Psychiatry, antianxiety/psyche meds or counseling may need to be initiated.
Avatar f tn Valproic acid is used alone or with other medications to treat certain types of seizure I know you are worried and afraid for your daughter. I have no advice about what to do, just wanted you to know I am hoping all goes well and I am so sorry about it all.
Avatar n tn Convulsions in your son do not look like as febrile seizures, but EEG is reported normal which goes with diagnosis of febrile seizure. Febrile seizure is uncommon after 6 years of age, but not absolute. Video EEG precise characterization of seizure types, which allows for specific medical or surgical management. In addition, the physician is more accurately able to differentiate epileptic seizures from paroxysmal events that mimic seizures, including pseudo seizures.
Avatar n tn ago) and an eeg showed mild left sided cerebral dysfunction, so I will be having a video/eeg for a possible seizure disorder. I have Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia, so if nothing is found with the video/eeg I may be getting a Reveal Monitor (implant)to look for another arrhythmia. Now, my rheum is send'g me to a neurosurgeon because of a cervical spine MRI. This is where my question stems from: My rheum says that turn'g my neck just the right way can make me faint. Can that be?
Avatar f tn Hi, my 17 yro son was found last week, on the ground, across the street from his HS. Apparently he was having a severe Grand Mal Seizure. EMS reported he had been seizing for at least 15 minutes. Verset was administered to stop his seizing. However, he has a history of neg reaction to Versed as well as many other medications. This is due to a medobolic disorder, which causes various reactions and poor metabolizing of all drug's.
969132 tn?1249327851 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIu1TI961XQ I am female, 21 years old with asthma and overweight. I had just lost about 35 pounds (from working out and eating healthy) when this all started to happen, and now it is so bad that I can barely walk around my house and take care of my kids, let alone work out with the vigor that I previously had. I still eat healthy but am not losing weight. About 1 year ago I had twins and lost quite a bit of blood but have since recovered.
Avatar m tn These are the only types of tests that can absolutely show if you have epilepsy or not. You may have had a seizure just from smoking drugs. But you'd better have it checked out to be sure. My 7.5 yr old son takes seizures and has a rare form of epilepsy. It is not a fun way to live your life. If you value your life at all, then you need to stop drinking and smoking all together. Go to school and become a doctor, lawyer, or whatever you want to be. Drugs will screw up your entire life.
Avatar n tn There is usually, almost always, abnormal EEG activity (cortical neuronal stimulation) that corresponds to the seizure events. These may or may not be provoked. For instance, some types of epilepsy are induced by computer games. Others have no known inducing event. Since the abnormal brain electricity is in the cortex, a spinal lesion would not induce a seizure event.

Avatar n tn If you cannot show her the video of herself, then I would ask her who her doctor is, and SEND HIM A COPY OF THE VIDEO and ask him/her to please help you! Or show it to your own doctor and ask what he/she thinks is the next course of action. Good luck, and please keep us informed. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I want to thank You for Your answer, The results of MRI are completely ok , EEG is ok when she was having a seizure , after the seizure the EEG was not ok. But the doctors don't know what is it. During the seizure she is avare of all the things that are happening around her but she can't control herself. She get's cold and her body get's cold, her skin turns yellow ( slightly). When she starts choking her parents have to performe a Heimlich manouver to get her to breed normaly.
Avatar n tn At the time, he looks like he's having a mild seizure, but the whole time his tail is wagging fiercely and he's fully alert. Sometimes the episodes last for 30 seconds, sometimes as long as 4-5 minutes. He'll go days without having any episodes, then he'll have periods where he has several in a day. The vet tested him for epilepsy, but that was ruled out. What could be wrong with him?
Avatar n tn She said she had about 15-90 seconds where she felt like she was falling into a seizure, then it would take control. Once she was locked into the seizure, it would last for anywhere from 20 seconds to 90 seconds. We realized if we made her snack and kept her from getting hungry it really helped. She got to the point where she recognized the onset of the initial symptoms.
Avatar m tn And i have witnessed this behavior not just during studying/learning/reading times but also while she plays video games and on the soccer field in action. She'll just stop and leave reality for a few seconds followed by a few seconds of disorientation before figuring out where she is. I've asked her what she remembers or imagines during her episodes. She remembers absolutely nothing. I'm getting concerned the longer this continues and worsens in frequency.
Avatar f tn Your seizure frequency is such that your quality of life is likely affected by your epilepsy, and although you have not provided a description of your seizure types, based on the fact that MGH felt you were a surgical candidate, it sounds like there was a suspicion for localized seizure focus that would be amenable to resection. Unfortunately, you had a bit of a mishap with your first attempt at subdural grids.
Avatar m tn I was told by the specialist in Phila., PA, that since my Video/Audio EEG monitoring showed no true "epileptic activity" on the monitoring, that it had to be NES. I hv pain & discomfort originally on left side head down to toes. I feel likr my body joints are rubber like and very flexible after a seizure with all of the activity that had taken place. I have numbness and tingling regularly. I want to thank you for your input.
Avatar f tn of Dilantin and have not had any grand mal seizures since, however I have experienced other types of seizures. My husband seems to think that I have had these other types of seizures between the times of the grand mal seizures, we just didn't know what they were then. I do experience auras with smells and vision changes.
341190 tn?1295470725 Hi Vanessa, Thanks so much for your reply, After i had my seizure i immediatly went to the doctors its not the first seizure i have had over 30 years i have had around 12 only the last 3 have been more frequent and worse, i have an appointment firstly with the cardiology department then if that comes back ok they will refere me to neurology, what i dont understand is if my headache is a result from the seizure then why the delay, thanks jo
Avatar n tn I don't think it's anxiety since no sweating, heartrate/respiration increases. Neuro says brain damage or seizure. Lasts too long for seizure? Do anticonvulsants stop symptoms of brain damage or only control seizures? Only thing that has helped in the past is increasing phenobarb. Sorry to but in but I'm desperate.
386392 tn?1207260783 How can I tell the difference between having a nightmare or a seizure? I have a weakness down my left hand side affecting my arm and leg my physio thinks ive had a stroke. I have had ear problems for years now but was told my balance organ was not working in my right ear but was able to self correct 6 months ago. The ENT doctor I saw 6 months ago thinks it may be Minieres disease but has not seen me since I was admitted to hospital.
Avatar n tn We went to a neurologist and the EEG she did came out abnormal. We then were sent to UCLA about 4 months later. They put her on several types of seizure medications. They were dilantin, lamictal, keppra, and neurontin. It still didn't stop the seizures. We then went through the unit where they watch you 24 hours a day and have you hooked up to EEG leads. She went through sleep deprevation and she had three seizures while she was there.
Avatar f tn If anything, I think that she does have idiopathic epilepsy, which can be controlled nicely with anti-seizure meds. They have so many different types today, it's no longer a case of automatically putting them on phenobarbital like it used to be. With her being so much smaller than normal, you might have to play with the dosage a bit of whichever med the doctor decides to use, but it sounds like she could not have found a better dog mom than you.
Avatar n tn Blackouts can mean a number of things such as seizure, fainting spell (syncope), or atypical migraine - each with multiple causes. Start with your primary care doc for a routine exam, lab work including a pregnancy test and an EKG to make sure the heart rhythm is normal. She will likely need more prolonged monitoring if a heart problem is suspected and a neuro referral.
1007660 tn?1250539039 I have a 14 month old son he goes Monday back to the neurologist office to see if he is have the seizures, does anyone know of any behavior problems with children having these types or any other types of seizures? Looking for some help in trying to figure out what poor little guy is going through but he has been getting very frustrated and angry at just about anything I try to do for him. He is very delayed so he has little to no communication skills at this point other than acting out.
