1063524 tn?1258735804 He is my Angel and always has been to this day. My Grandmother (his Mother) is my Angel too although she's in a nursing home now. Like I said, my sister was raised my my "mother's" mother and I was raised by my Dad and Grandmother so we didn't grow up together. She eventually moved in with my Dad when she was 14 and I was 18 and had just had my first child.

Avatar m tn This current spring semester, I have been forced to take a leave from my job as a waitress, and postpone my education in nursing. I am scared to death to drive and don't feel as if I have the mental ability to complete my courses. This entire thing has been very debilitating to my life. I have been very depressed because of this. I feel like my independence has been taken from me. From the sounds of other people's posts, there doesn't seem to be a solution to this problem or even a diagnosis.
Avatar n tn I know I may just be over reacting but i feel like I am an educated. I read alot and i also graduated from nursing school with my RN. I know early intervention is important. 544292 tn?1268886268 Theres a lot of conflicting information about seizures on the list. I've never seen anYone have a seizure in tramadol WITHDRAWAL. Have seen several people have seizures when TAKING tramadol. AND, every tramadol related seizure I saw did not seem related to how high a dose the person was taking; RATHER was in instances where someone markedly INCREASED their dose. I think the confusion is in that seizures are common when withdrawing from sedatives (alcohol, barbiturates, benzodiazapines etc).
165078 tn?1255610007 ( I am going to amazon right now and ordering that book, you are right she does mention it. That book was enough to scare the heck out of me. I could not handle one little seizure and she had to go through them all the time. I cannot even imagine.

Avatar f tn I still have no real answer as to why I lived a healthy life for 25 years, suffered a seizure like black out spell one night (lot of stress at the time) and my life turned upside down. I don't ever remember having headaches where I asked my parents for asprin or tylenol, unless I had a tonsil or sinus infection. Maybe I have always lived in pain and it was just normal to me until my pressures went to a fatal level.
163305 tn?1333672171 Oh, I'm pretty good at foot in the mouth, but I think in this case it's tx. It's the little old lady in the nursing home syndrome--sometimes we don't really get it, we crack a joke and someone takes offense. If we looked like the Golden Girls we could get away with it. We're just to young and beautiful!
Avatar n tn It starts when you discontinue the benzo, which causes tension to build up in the shoulders, arms and causes tingling in the hands (consider these the warning signs of an impending benzo seizure) over the next few days, it culminates in a seizure, in which you instantly lose consciousness for several minutes, bite your tongue (hopefully not swallowing it at the same time). I know because I've been on Xanax for several years and am now trying to get off of it.

Avatar f tn My family fought back and found me a nice nursing home in Scottsdale where I went through therapy to learn to walk and basically improve my motor skills. After a total of three months, start to finish, I made it home in a wheelchair, never used it, I refused to use it. I went through the ascites big time, had massive dizzy spells, and even had a seizure or two. My last beer was two days before I went to the ER.
Avatar f tn We knew from a very early age that my son had ADHD. We used to joke that he skipped walking and crawling and starting running at 8 months old. It took about a year after that to realize our son was different. That normal discipline would not work for him. From the early talks of diagnosing him with ADHD we swore we would never EVER put him on ADHD meds.
Avatar f tn I was blessed to care for an adult male who had Down's when I was in nursing and to this day I still think of him fondly. He made me smile like no other, his personality and smile brightened the room. I literally could not walk into his room and leave in a bad mood. His parents raised him in a time when it was common to warehouse them in institutions, yet they didn't. They admitted it was tough, but they also admitted their "normal" children were tough as well.
Avatar m tn I am a nurse and do in home hospice care. We go into wherever the patient calls home, be it nursing home, assisted living, their own homes, etc. I have seen more than my fair share of family members stealing meds from patient's, nurses from nursing homes, etc who are hooked, etc, etc. Being in law enforcement, you know what I am talking about.
Avatar f tn I think people miss the point - youre not treating the disease with the drugs that are used you are treating the symptoms - you cannot treat the disease at this point.
Avatar n tn also could this drug alter my brain function since I know it is used for bi-polar and seizure disorder... I'd like to know more about this med both from a neurologists view and from a weight loss specialists view.
190559 tn?1280615967 The treatment forces your body into a grand mal seizure and can affect memory, cognitive function, and learning in the short term. Our daughter has displayed symptoms of both mild hyperthyroid and extreme hypothyroid states over the past several months, sometimes even fluctuating over a few hours or days. This fluctuation has also shown up on thyroid blood tests both in Philadelphia and Milwaukee, but so far she has not had a full thyroid panel done.
147426 tn?1317269232 The only treatment I received was pain pills and anti-seizure medication for the tremorsl. I was finally layed off after my short term disability ran out. I could not afford to pay for the insurance myself so I then had no insurance. My neurologist would no longer see me. A year went by and my family doctor was great. He helped all he could and kept my pain medicine perscribed for me.
Avatar n tn Lately Its been causing so much pain in my hips and knees as well that i'm on a cane 24/7. Its embarrassing at my age. I work in a nursing home and always feel as though the elderly there with broken hips in wheel chairs must be looking at me and rolling their eyes.... The more I notice the syptoms getting worse in the heat the more I'm drawn to beleive that it truly is Multiple Sclerosis and that the earlier test was just too early.
Avatar n tn 26, to check my heart and those valves, just in case they are spitting out small clots and caused a TIA. Either way I am going to have to have some faith in God, my specialists knowledge/experience/education and continue to educate my self as well. I know that it is difficult to not allow fear to take over, but you must not allow anxiety over "not knowing" cause even more symptoms.
