Avatar f tn I am nursing school and I did 3 years straight with no semesters off for pre-nursing at a community college. When I transferred to do my bachelors degree this college has no semesters off as well, which you get a bachelors degree in 2-3years and you may have a week off or sometimes no break at all. Since I have been pregnant I haven't been motivated to keep going I'm always tired.
Avatar f tn -) If you want to further your education in nursing or any other field for that matter I think you should go for it. Self fulfillment is healthy. As far as the "what ifs" throw them in the garbage. What if's are what we do to keep from making a decision that may be a difficult or challenging one. If we throw enough what ifs in there we can rationalize not taking the step we know we should. Go for it Fuzzy from one old gal to another.
Avatar f tn Any of you mommas still in college? I'm heading towards a degree in elementary education! I'm a little over 9 weeks pregnant with mine and my husbands first baby! What are you guys in school for? And how much longer do you have?
Avatar f tn And make sure your son regularly takes his anti-seizure medications because skipping medications could trigger seizure also. It would also be helpful to know some of the other triggers like stress, hormones, or infection to prevent seizure from happening. You can learn more about this through this link: http://www.epilepsy.org.uk/info/triggers.html I hope this helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I can see why you would be nervous about starting clinicals. It's a big step and an opportunity to demonstrate all the education up to now is going to be used to good effect. I don't understand why having been cured of Hep C would be an issue. You are working in a medical community and they should understand better than the rest of the general population.
Avatar m tn Part of the problems we are having in this country, I believe, stems from the formal education we have, or don't have. Basically the public education system we have has not changed over the last century, so what changes would you make if you could and if added cost is involved how would you pay for it.

Avatar f tn I was 6 weeks at my first appointment and they did a vaginal U/S and pap smear. I also say a nurse, but she was a nursing practitioner. They have more education then a regular nurse and are closer to a dr.
Avatar f tn The only ways adults get HIV is from unprotected vaginal or anal sex or sharing IV drug needles. There are certain occupational risks in nursing but a closed scab is not a risk. I would bone up on some education if you are going to continue in this field so that you aren't anxious over things like this and understand where you need to use precautions. And you don't wear gloves when handling things? Anyway, no risk here on this situation.
Avatar f tn Other then a warehouse type job I don't know what else would pay well without higher education. Have you thought about additional schooling? Maybe you can take a quick course in something. I've heard that you can become a nursing assistant in like a month.
8106960 tn?1396643389 I started full time college classes when my son was 6 months old. I was in a nursing program so classes were on campus and clinical were at any one of five medical facilities within an hour's drive. My brother watched my son one day a week, my bf changed his work schedule to be able to stay home with him one day a week, and he went to an in-home daycare the rest of the week. I was in school for 2.5 years, just graduated in December having earned my degree as an RN.
Avatar f tn Apparently, I fainted and fell down on the floor. My mother heard a big thump she walked. From what she described, I was having a seizure. When I came back to my senses, i noticed I had bit my tongue and inside of my cheek. I was taken to ER and they ran some blood tests, and CT scan that was normal It was my very first seizure at age 25. I have no family history of seizure disorders. I have been a vegetarian all my life.
Avatar m tn Hi there. I am hoping someone can help me. My boyfriend is a type 2 diabetic. He suffers from very high sugar. However, when his sugar drops to low he has seizures. Now is the seizures due to low sugar or high sugar. Test showed high sugar. Can a high sugar also cause seizures. I don't want to treat him with the wrong treatment ie glucose if it is actually a high sugar seizure and not low like we think it is? Very confused as the treatment for high and low is so different?
Avatar f tn I took my NCLEX-PN test on Monday, June 6th to get my nursing license. I just found out that I am officially a Licensed Practical Nurse in Oklahoma....I passed!!! So very, very happy! Avatar f tn change in alertness, difficulty speaking or understanding speech, headache, loss of coordination or balance, difficulty moving any body part, seizure, vision and sensation changes. Surgery is done to repair or remove structures causing the bleed. How well a patient does depends on the size of the hematoma and the amount of swelling. There may be a complete recovery, or some permanent loss of brain function. Talk to your doctor about this for proper management. Take care and best regards.
1146463 tn?1319108878 My oldest kids have seen me nurse its no big deal they know what boobs are for. As far as nursing in public I did but I had a nursing cover so I wasn't exposing anything. I always say when u start eating ur lunch in the bathroom I will start feeding my baby there too. Don't worry about what others say, if the are so offended oh well ignore them. Good luck you.
Avatar n tn Hi Judie, Thank you so much for your update. First of all, I am so glad that you are doing well with the cancer. Neuropathy can be rough. I have pasted a site below that I think gives very reasonable suggestions for treatment and supportive measures. The standard wisdom is that 30% of neuropathy resolves, 30% stays the same, and 30% gets worse. It is not unusual to have a delayed presentation of the symptoms. You should go see your oncologist and ask about trying one of the medications.
Avatar f tn m lucky enough not to just be stuck with ONLY the fear mongering type of education most people receive in school (and even nursing school). I have a much more realistic view of actual risk events. You have nothing to worry about. Just continue to follow your facility's recommendations and get some help for the anxiety.
Avatar f tn I believe this is called a 69? problem is, I had a seizure while completely naked and I think some of his semen was on the bed but I can't be sure and if it got on me, seeing I was having a seizure. It coulda been mine or his but I got off the bed after I could walk. I am not kidding and we're both in our 20's. Can I get pregnant? Should I take a test? Help please!!!!
Avatar f tn It is common to see this in nursing homes. A woman I cared for developed it at age 99, and upon discontinuance of the meds, it diappeared at age 102. She now 108 years old.
Avatar n tn She is a master at acting as if there is nothing wrong. I simply want her to get the education she deserves. She does not want the attention. Help. She has had EEG which was okay. Dr. told us that it was a posttraumatic seizure disorder and gave her drugs that make her tired. She does not want to go back. Her memory is hit and miss. With one more year in school, they have had this info. She needs some type of help..What can we do?
Avatar f tn He is now in a nursing facility and in the past 5 months or so has become extremely agitated, at times. He has always been very quiet and cooperative. He tells me he feels "nervous" and that he begins banging his hands on the bed/wall and his wheel chair into doors or walls...
