Seizure numbness

Common Questions and Answers about Seizure numbness

Avatar f tn A feeling like numbness floods my face and arms and legs. it almost seems to shoot from the center of me or my head or chest to the extremities like lightening or an electric impulse. It doesn't hurt and doesn't really bother my daily life, but concerns me and is annoying. It is over in a split second but happens several times in a row and many times in a day.
401370 tn?1233328282 However, you are still here, and thank GOD! Go to a physician and get his opinion on the matter- when someone is having a seizure, you are to NOT try and shake them or anything else that could promote injury.. instead, you are to turn them to their side, place something soft by their teeth so they don't break their teeth nor bite their tongue, etc etc etc.. What are those guards, retards or what?? Don't get ME started!
Avatar m tn Does anyone else have numbness on the back of your head,? Is this normal with chiari ?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with MS at the age of 27 due to a number of seizures I just started spontaneously having. I am now 32 and so far that was my only symptom. They had me on so many different seizure meds and anxiety meds in case of multiple attacks. I decided to cut out wheat and gluten, and I'm not kidding when I say, my seizures stopped INSTANTLY, I even stopped taking my meds. Not one in over a year. With that being said, I'm now noticing new things, my right thumb has been numb for over a week.
Avatar n tn At times the tingling turns into a burning sensation and numbness. I was sent to a neurologist. I had MIRs on my head and upper spine and they both came back fine. The symptoms appear to get worse in the evening and I have had a couple of nights with an upset stomach and hot flashes. Reflexes are normal to slightly diminished and there are no balance issues. There are no vision problems and with the normal MIRs they do not believe it is MS.
Avatar n tn Since the seizure I have not taken Tramadol and this hand pain/numbness started after discontinuing that medication. I've seen a neurologist, and she's recommending a nerve velocity test, and an MRI or the shoulder area. The neurontin my family doc prescribed has done little or nothing to abate the pain, and the Norco doesn't touch it either. Can you tell me what can be done to alleviate this pain? It seems I'll never sleep a full night again! Thanks again for your help!
Avatar f tn Keep in mind that topamax is a great treatment for migraine but can actually cause numbness and tingling. However, the numbness and tingling caused by topamax is usually in both hands and feet in the finger tips and toes rather than on one single side of the body. Thank you for using the forum I hope you find this information useful good luck.
Avatar n tn I'm not sure if seizure disorder and epilepsy are the same these days? I'm a 43 year old female, no history of seizures, 2 year survivor of breast cancer, which made the discovery of benign cysts in my left temporal lobe. 6 months ago I started having severe headaches with almost stroke like symptoms with neurological deficits associated with them as well as an elevation in my stress levels. All my doctors tell me I have more stress in my life than they've seen in a while.
Avatar n tn AED's have improved the numbness somewhat, but I have had terrible side affects, worse then the numbness. I have never had a gran-mal seizure that I know of however, I have passed out and fallen many times at concerts, carnivals and clubs with lots of lights. When that happens, are those generalized seizures? I also am told by my husband that at night I shake in a high speed vibration, but not violently. When he touches me I respond, but I dont' remember these happening.
Avatar n tn also i am having muscle spasms in my upper back and numbness down my arem and into my fingers.was this a seizure or a stroke? i had not had much sleep the day before and some stress. any thought on this?
Avatar n tn I have lost some mobility in my left leg, and have numbness in my face and foot most of the time. About twice a month I get "traveling numbness" that leaves me unable to speak correctly. I loose my vision almost daily, and have focal seizures about 2 times per month. And we not to mention the headaches themselves. According to my doctor these sypmtoms are extreme, but related to the hemiplegic migraines.

Avatar n tn I'm 31 yrs old and took seizure meds for over 10 yrs due to 2 grand mal seizures many yrs ago. I had about a 1 year history of petit mal seizures when I started meds. I discontinued my meds (phenobarbitol, 90mg/day) about 7 mos ago. My MRI was completely normal. No problems till now. On Sat. I had some neurological problems that were very different from my past experiences.
Avatar n tn My neurolgist diagnosed me with a stroke-related seizure (since the symptoms were coming from the same area of the brain as where I had my stroke) and gave me Depakote which stopped the symptoms almost immediately. I didn't tolerate the Depakote (many side effects) and eventually switched to Neurontin which I have happily taken for 6 months, three times a day. I have no side effects and the Neurontin keeps the symptoms completely in check unless I accidently skip doses.
Avatar n tn many tests were conducted for the next three days and the only conclusion was Syncope. It seemed more than simply fainting. She had no numbness. She could produce a full smile. She remembers nothing of the incident. Any help would be great!
880221 tn?1240423082 There is a possibility that since the neurologist found an oddball artery in the pictures of your brain, that there may be a weakness in that vessel wall, making you more susceptible to perhaps bleeding when your heart beats too hard, and that could have caused your temporary numbness and the seizure. That's why he has asked a neurosurgeon to take a look at the situation, to make sure you are good to go, and that it was indeed a freak thing.
Avatar f tn R.. Lots of tests where done (pregnancy, drug, cat scan) all came back normal. There was talk of seizure. We where there from 10am till 7pm I remember one snapshot of this whole time. most of it I slept through. By that evening the slurred speech and balance was better but I was very slow and seemed confused. The second day I slept all day. The third day I remember some of.
Avatar m tn So I'm just not sure if she had a mini-stroke or another seizure. So that's my question - Did she have a mini-stroke or a seizure (today)? Any relevant info is greatly appreciated.
2030686 tn?1351692148 3 months ago I had a seizure and fell out of bed, and I have a huge bruise on my arm/shoulder that's finally going away. My chronic back pain has gotten progressively worse since then and in the past week I've developed a sharp shooting pain in the same shoulder. Around the same time as the seizure I started a treatment that causes muscle pain/fatigue and flu like symptoms. I contributed the back pain to the treatment as I was told it would probably get worse.
393986 tn?1303829575 Hello. A seizure is defined as an episode of central nervous system dysfunction. A seizure may or may not be accompanied by convulsions. Your seizures are unusual. Do you lose consciousness when you have the episode? usually convulsions are tonic (only spasms) or tonic - clonic (spasms followed by repeated contractions). An EEG confirms a seizure. Has it been done?
1448748 tn?1312959808 Does anyone one here take an anti seizure med and does it help with your pain and fatigue ? Also ever caused eye blurriness in one eye?
1810724 tn?1316936524 So I have been diagnosed with a Seizure disorder almost a year ago. Already been through two different seizure medications and now taking the third. I have tried Depakote ER no help (7 months), Topamax (3 months) and now Gabapentin (1 Week) to control my episodes. Tightness in the chest area with warm sensation that would radiate through both sides left more than right with numbness and tingling feeling.

Avatar n tn Now, a few days ago, I woke up having a spasm, like I normally do, and then it almost seemed to crawl up my body and I had a seizure. Two people witnessed it. I was taken to the ER and had a ct scan, all ok. Now I am seeing a neurologist. I had an EEG done, also ok, but have a 72 hour EEG and a brain MRI scheduled. During the day, my calfs cramp up and I get tingling sensations in my legs, sometimes my arms a little.
Avatar f tn I would get to a doctor as soon as possible. My husband was in the hospital recovering from coiling of 1 aneurysm and he had a grand mal seizure. What he said just before the seizure was "Oh my back". I don't know if this is a coincidence or not but please have it checked out. After all you have been through it's just not worth it to take any risks.
Avatar n tn Hi. For the past 3 days, I have had a numbness/discomfort in both of my butt cheeks. It feels like your rear end feels after sitting in a car for hours on end. But it feels like that all the time. Sitting, standing, laying down, etc... I have tried tylenol, advil and neprox sodium and nothing helps. Could this be my ms? Can't find this listed as a symptom anywhere. Has anyone else had this?
1073473 tn?1257844249 Hello jwles, I am sorry you are experiencing numbness and pain. Did you say the numbness only happens when you lay on a limb, or does it happen all of the time? Sometimes numbness can occur with Fibromyalgia. It's a common neurological symptom of Fibro. I have numbness in my left foot due to nerve dysfunction in my spine. My case is somewhat severe in that I have some other co-occurring conditions along with my Fibromyalgia.
