Common Questions and Answers about Seizure nausea

Avatar m tn I know a 17 year old boy who was feeling lightheaded for 2 or 3 days then had a seizure and died. does anyone know what may have caused this?
Avatar n tn My husband was to have elective surgery today on his shoulder, while being given an IV of "saline solution", he had a seizure. The nurse could not get the bag to begin dripping, so she continued to inject the syringe into the line to flush it. After about 3 or 4 times, my husband said he was feeling lightheaded and was experiencing nausea. He then got white as a ghost, his eyes rolled back in his head and stopped breathing for a second or two. The Dr.
1413227 tn?1281798777 July 2010 Admitted to South Shore Hospital for 4 days for episodes of nausea, light headedness, limp body, and ability to hear what is going on but not able to speak or move. Episodes lasted b/w 1 to 3 minutes. Also had right facial and right arm symptoms, which abated. BP 130/70, Pulse 80 and regular, Respiratory rate 18. No focal abnormalities on neurological exam. Released from hospital still feeling dizzy and unable to walk more than 50 feet w/o getting nauseous.
Avatar n tn My roommate sat me down and I began to seize on my left side for approximately 20 seconds. I have no recollection of the seizure. I was taken to the ER where I was given anti seizure meds and had 3 ct scans, an MRI/MRA, EEG and EKG, all which came back normal. The neurologists on call decided to not begin me on meds, but really gave me little information to go on. Unfortunately, I am currently without health insurance, so my options are limited.
Avatar m tn I have a friend who had a random seizure one morning after she had been vomiting and had diarrhea all night before. She also had not been sleeping well or at all some nights the whole month before. I took her to the emergency room and she had blood work done and a CT scan done both came back just fine. The doctor told her it was probably that she was dehydrated, and had lack of sleep that put too much stress on her brain. He also told her to consult a family doctor.
220917 tn?1309788081 No one has ever seen me have a seizure. I take Topamax, which is an anti-seizure medication, for my migraines, daily. I know I skipped a dose this week. I've done that a kajillion times. I usually go to bed VERY early. 9:00 -10-30 range, because of my fatigue, and I usually nap briefly during the day. I did take my nap, but last night, I was just sick of being sick, and stayed up WAY too late. 1:00. I really was overly tired.
Avatar m tn 1. suddenly out of nowhere I feel nausea like the highest strength of nausea when you feel like you are going to puke the next moment (but you don't) 2. Simultaneously my saliva is starting to be generated like crazy, I could fill a trash can if I wanted, like rainfalls of saliva. 3. At the same moment i begin to burp like crazy. This mostly happens when I'm hungry (at night), sometimes during the day. I had like six of these during this week. An average attack lasts for about 15-30 seconds.
Avatar f tn I'm 41, female, since I was a teenager I have these "episodes" had one again last night- from around 3 pm I felt a headache coming on, felt like a migraine (which I don't have) pain, nausea, sound, light. So I lay down and I know I'm about to have an "episode" I feel incoming on. I take an Ativan for the panic and a Zoloft for the nausea.
Avatar m tn First, some history - about 8 years ago my husband had a tension-pneumo thorax and had a chest tube placed. Several hours later he woke from sleep complaining of extreme nausea and being "hot" then suffered a syncopal episode along with what appeared to be a "seizure." Upon further evaluation the neuro determined it was a vasovagal reaction to the chest tube.
2132141 tn?1335681674 Have you ever spoken about it with a doctor? What you describe does sound like a short focal seizure. I have heard of urination syncope, where the vagal nerve (10th cranial nerve) gets over stimulated during urination and causes reduced heart rate, sweating, flushing, nausea, and even fainting (a vasovagal response can be triggered by several different things...take a look at Wikipedia's page on Vasovagal Response.) also, you might look up urination syncope...
Avatar n tn Hi there. Mephedrone can cause hallucinations, nausea, vomiting, blood circulation problems, anxiety, paranoia, fits, delusions, concentration, poor short term memory, increased heart rate, anxiety, depression, dilated pupils, etc. The short-term effects of mephedrone use include mood swings, severe pain, nosebleeds, hallucinations or purple skin. Causes of twitching need to be investigated.
Avatar n tn Your seizure looks like a simple partial seizure. The second seizure was probably an absence seizure. And this latest incidence can very well be an absence seizure. Did you fall on the sofa ? But it is uncommon to have absence seizures at this age. A syncope may be brought on by a sudden intense pain. But you will not have the various dream like experiences during a syncope (fainting). I would say this was an absence seizure.
Avatar m tn for 3 days - not alleviated by Tylenol or Excedrin. In conjunction with nausea, spots, and neck is sore when she puts her head down. Any ideas?
2030686 tn?1351692148 3 months ago I had a seizure and fell out of bed, and I have a huge bruise on my arm/shoulder that's finally going away. My chronic back pain has gotten progressively worse since then and in the past week I've developed a sharp shooting pain in the same shoulder. Around the same time as the seizure I started a treatment that causes muscle pain/fatigue and flu like symptoms. I contributed the back pain to the treatment as I was told it would probably get worse.
Avatar n tn I'm 31 yrs old and took seizure meds for over 10 yrs due to 2 grand mal seizures many yrs ago. I had about a 1 year history of petit mal seizures when I started meds. I discontinued my meds (phenobarbitol, 90mg/day) about 7 mos ago. My MRI was completely normal. No problems till now. On Sat. I had some neurological problems that were very different from my past experiences.
209227 tn?1242350345 It did affect my memory and was put on seizure medication for 6 months. In you're opinion was this a seizure? Because I feel it was not. Opinions are greatly appreciated.
1448748 tn?1312959808 Does anyone one here take an anti seizure med and does it help with your pain and fatigue ? Also ever caused eye blurriness in one eye?
Avatar n tn Husband has family history of sleep apnea, so we went for sleep study where they found she was having seizure activity in her sleep. Further MRI and EEG found incidental chairi malformation and abnormal EEG with generalized spike and wave discharges; also during sleep portion she had increased generalized frontally dominant spike and wave discharges.
Avatar n tn My husband has also been diagnoses with hemiplegic migraines. We haven't found anything that we can pinpoint that triggers these episodes but there are times when he can't stand or walk because the hemiparesis on his right side is so severe. Other times it may only affect his right eye and his speech a bit. Our biggest problem is that whether he is on the meds to supposedly prevent the migraines or not he still has them. However, that may not be the case with you.
Avatar n tn I'm thrilled to read your post! I'm looking for a cause for my problem, and while doctors are currently contemplating a possible heart-related cause, a friend (a doctor) recently suggested "focal seizure" or partial seizure. In the typical list of symptoms of partial seizure, the sufferer is said to be unable to speak or has involuntary movements. That is not me. I remain able to take my pulse and take stock of other symptoms, plus describe what's happening, as it's happening.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm new to the site and have found it extremely helpful. I have had Type I diabetes for 10 years now, and have never come across something so useful before. Keep up the great work^^ Onto my question. A couple of weeks ago, I was taken to the hospital by ambulance secondary to a "low blood sugar seizure." I have no recollection of a four hour period before I went to sleep, and then 3 hours after I was found seizing and taken to the emergency room.
Avatar n tn says when a h/a occurs with these other symptoms it is a migraine, not a seizure. I am reluctant to accept that, as she looks the same to me-seizure like, whether she has a h/a or not. How do we sort this out?
626605 tn?1302524071 Hi everyone, Well I just wanted to ask a few questions. I had a seizure for my very first time ever and I'm 30 years old. Both my kids seen me do this my husband is deployed. I was on the computer and I guess just started seizing. Very weird and I don't remember a thing. I remember only after I woke up and was full of nausea and was vomiting.
Avatar f tn from what you described, you may have had a simple partial seizure that morphed into a complex partial seizure. it could have been due to low blood sugar, but there may have been a different underlying cause. you should see a neurologist that specializes in epilepsy, and in the meantime, discontinue taking those diet pills.
Avatar n tn Doctors have given me anti seizure meds, without being sure I actually had a seizure. They do not know what caused this. The medicatin made me feel sick all the time, so I stopped taking them. Please HELP....
Avatar m tn It is usually due to seizure, or due to schizophrenia or depression or due to an aura of migraine. It can also be due to a problem in olfactory receptor mechanism. This could be due to a smell getting trapped by nasal polyps or tumors. Sinusitis with post nasal drip can cause both a phantom smell and nausea and this should be investigated first by an ENT. If this is not found to be the case then it can be something serious. You would then need to consult a psychiatrist, and a neurologist.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 15 and has been having episodes of passing out with seizure like symptoms, she will make a gurgling sound with the mouth, get somewhat stiff and shake. She tends to feel nausea first... this happens anytime during the day about 1-3 times a year. She has been thru test and doctors have found nothing wrong with her. Help I need answers...
Avatar n tn I have had severe nausea since I was a child. I am now 27 and just can't take it. It is accompanied with tiredness, easy bruising, light headedness and I am always cold. The main symptom is definitely the nausea and tends to be after I eat. I have been tested for all of the obvious: GERD, celiac, h pylori, autoimmune gastritis etc. Every test has come back normal. Acid reducers and proton pimp inhibitors do not help at all.
1496859 tn?1304519034 I can deal with all the other stuff, HA, dizziness, the pain, etc.. (sort of lol ) For the past month I have been having nausea almost 24/7 never gotten sick but lost about 11 - 13 lbs and now I weigh just over 97 lbs (I am 160 cm I think it is 5,2) got me scared when I stepped on the scale.. I thought it was related to my dizziness but now I am not sure.
