Common Questions and Answers about Seizure kit

seizure

Avatar n tn It all depends on the seizure synrome and side effects from other anti-seizure drugs. A seizure can kill you. Most other w/d will not but may make you feel like dying. Most people I have seen at mental health clinic take 0.5 mg or 1.0 mg at bedtime for sleep only, or if they are schizo or whatever they may add it at that low dose in addition to their anti-psychotic drug. FYI- I have only heard of alcohol induced myalgia.
1524811 tn?1333244901 asked for a band aid. My husband was standing beside her while I turned my back to open our first aid kit to get the band aid she had requested. 5 seconds later I turned around to her & saw that her face was extremely pale. She suddenly went limp, eyes rolled back in her head & she fell to the floor. THANK GOD my husband was there & caught her before she hit the ground. She suddenly started seizing!
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor The diagnosis of epilepsy and seizure disorder are not mutually exclusive. True seizure events are abnormal hypersynchronous firing of cortical neurons. These events are induced by extracellualr IPSPs or EPSPs. These firings would be detected on a brain wave test called EEG. There is a type of seizure disorder that is not epileptic. This type is called pseudoseizures. The seizure event in this case is not induce by abnormal brain hypersynchrony of cortical neurons.

Avatar n tn My 4yo son had a seizure in November and the E.R. doc wanted to do a spinal tap on him after finding nothing from the other tests. After the tray was set up for the test he noticed it was an adult kit. He searched for probably 5 minutes for a smaller needle but couldn't find one. He used the one in the kit telling us it would be fine. He ended up hitting a nerve which put my son in the hospital 3 days later on morphine and vicadin to control the pain. He was in the hospital for 3 days.

Avatar n tn In Dec '05 I had two subachroid repairs and had the 50/50 chances you had. I too suffer headaches and was given Vicodin which works, but I'm afraid of addiction. I take 300-450 mg of Wellbutrin for Depression and 1200mg's of Trileptal for bi-polar disorder. I found the headaches are more intense if I forget to take the Trileptal. Upon further introspection I found that Trileptal is also an anti-seizure med, hmmm...interesting. It may be worth a try. The sleepiness comes and goes with me.

6534561 tn?1382230379 Hi, 2 yrs ago my kitty, then 8 yrs old, began having petit mal seizures every now and then. Two days after having a yearly rabies vaccine, he had a grand mal seizure. Less than 24 hours later, he had another. I took him to the emergency vet. Tests were run. No answers found. Over time the grand mal seizures subsided and then stopped. Six months later he had grand mal seizures for about a week. Then that stopped. He continued having petit mal like seizures every now and then.
Avatar n tn I believe this problem could be virtually eliminated and last years seizure could have been prevented if there was a dilantin home test kit, similar to the glucometer to diabetics. I have learned that it is quite common for a patient's dilantin levels to fluctuate. That being the case, I am puzzled as to why a dilantin test kit has not been developed by now. It could act as an early warning system alerting a patient to contact his/her doctor if any significant changes are noticed.

Avatar n tn For four months I was tracking my ovulation using an ovulation kit at made sure we tried at the right time each month, For these four months I ovulated normally but did not get pregnant. I then started Clomid. Immediatly upon starting clomid 50MG, I stopped ovulation per the ovulation kit. My OB-Gyn upped it to 100mg and 150mg and again I failed to ovulate on each of these doses (but I did get a horribly heavy period).

Avatar n tn It is important that a person with diabetes (I assume your hubby is Type 1, given how low he got) learn about Glucagon and always have a Glucagon kit available bedside. You might ask the endo for an extra kit so that you can practice with one (into an orange) do you'll know the technique when you need it. My hubby was taught to call 911 and then give me a shot of Glucagon while he awaits their arrival. It *is* terrifying to witness a seizure.

Avatar n tn My daughter had a seizure, a year ago (Dec. 06). She was taken to hospital for three days. In February we had an MRI done and a tumor was revealed to the left frontal lobe. The tumor was removed (gross removal) and a biopsy was done. The biopsy indicated that incision were not free. The Neurologist indicated that radiation must be done. However, it so happend that the country I went to start therapy had problems with their machine. We then went to the US for treatment.
Avatar n tn My Doctor says a blow to the head can cause damage to the nerves in the neck and head, which can cause Occipital Neuralgia.I didn't hae any spots on my MRI scan, everything was ok. Thank's for your concern over the pain though.
Avatar n tn I would write down exactly how your pulse fluctuates (a couple minutes after standing from the lying down position, after walking for so long, while lying down resting, etc.) and also take your BP if you have a kit and see how that correlates with your pulse rate. If your doctor suspects this might be a problem, they can actually record it better in an autonomic lab with tilt table test. Just a thought.
Avatar n tn My sept-dad almost had an accident with my grand-mother in the car. Finace got worse and we almost lost the house and I got kit out of school. Do you see? It is not a solution.
