Avatar n tn A lot of things can cause damage to the thyroid. You might look up the drug in the Wikipedia on line. You might have built up a tolerance to it. Also, you seem to be extremely hyperthyroid which, from what I understand can cause seizures and all the other symptoms you are having. Get some good Dr. to help you, quick. Good luck.
486038 tn?1300066967 Elizabeth's best friend was in a bad accident 3 years ago. The driver in the car that hit her head on had a seizure. Elizabeth's friend is doing ok now. She was lucky she didn't get killed, she has a teenage daughter.
Avatar n tn I also experience these weird pains in my head that come for about a second and then go and come back again every 10minutes or so. These pains are in 1 area in the back of my head in about a 1 square inch area.. Any ideas???
Avatar n tn It is on the right hand side of my spinal cord and is at or near my bra line. When I am in a flair-up and it highlights, it looks like a Christmas tree in my spine, since all of my vetebrae show all the bone spurs I have on every one. It really does look like a Christmas tree. The bone spurs are not unusual since I am 54 and was a very active ballerina in my past and very, very active in all kinds of sports.
Avatar n tn He said that the scans don't show any cause for this to be happening and it looks like it is curving in rather than the bone thinning in that area. At this point it isn't affecting my brain, so he wants me to repeat the scans in October and come back so he can see if there are any changes. Keep in touch if you find anything out about yours. and feel free to send me a message in my inbox - I have a watch on this post and my inbox and I recieve an email whenever anyone posts to it.
1318483 tn?1318350782 I think I would rather have my deja vu! But anyway, she said she feels like she was in the story. So, obviously, I am crazy and need help and have passed on my crazy gene to my daughter! But, I was wondering if anyone else holds this crazy gene? Please tell me I am not alone! Lol. :) Addi ps. Pretty sad when my daughter is sitting here telling me how to spell words cause I seem to be flubbering them up!
Avatar f tn So sorry you have these migraines. I seem to have them before a seizure. This is one of the things I found..From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The postictal state is the altered state of consciousness that a person enters after experiencing an epileptic seizure, such as those occurring with frontal lobe epilepsy.
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor back in October I believe because I felt like I had something stuck in my throat and I had a very minute ammount of blood in my saliva when I spit. Anyway, he told me I have a sinus infection and gave me antibiotics. Now I have always had allergies and plenty of sinus infections and I knew this was no sinus infection. So I take the antibiotics and nothing changes. So I go back to the same doctors office to see a different doctor.
Avatar n tn I also sleep on my right side with my arm up under my pillow to cradle my neck as i have severe neck arthritis from a car accident 6 or 7 years ago. i don't know if that is a factor in my numbness. i also notice that it goes numb more often on the days i do wear my bra. i would appreciate any advice or if you also have had a numb mid back, any suggestions.
Avatar n tn I have epilepsy actually, a disorder in which the person who has it experiences seizures. Have you ever blacked out after the flashes, or thought you had fallen asleep? If so, then you probably had a grand mal seizure. Either way, I would go to the doctor and ask for an EEG (Electroencephalogram, monitors your brain waves and can tell if they're abnormal - and if you have epilepsy). If you can't get it at your hospital/clinic, get a referral to a neurologist.
Avatar f tn The patient drowses with the appearance of diffuse depression and Theta slowing in the background. Patient falls alseep with the appearance of diffuse Delta slowing in the background. No astmmerty or epileptiform activities were observed throught the recording. End of description.
Avatar n tn Hi My Autistic daughter does a thing we refered to as stiffy's, she goes rigid, head to side often drools( a little) goes very red and sweats, when you talk to her she comes out of it but often lapses back in to it, we have spoken to our doc but he won't confirm whether it is a seizure or not as he hasn't seen her do it, she has stopped over the years but just recently this has all started again....any ideas?
Avatar n tn i quite dont remember them doing tests besides the ekg and a test where they put her on a table that moved her in all different directions to see if that affected her in any way. there is a lot more involved. i do believe it is a form of complex partial seizures. if she has a seizure she is fine except for a headache after. but if she doesnt have one, her eyes twitch, and she is spacey for 2 to 3 days. i am not a dr but i dont believe it is a form of anxiety.
Avatar f tn I have a history of a nocturnal seizure over 30 years ago, have been on dilantin and phenobarbitol since. No seizures since until some sort of incident 6 months ago. Many tests later and adjustments of meds find me feeling well. I think I may have had a TIA witnessed by someone in the family. I have no recall and it lasted 30 seconds. I am on Plavix but was off it for 2 weeks because of a needle biopsy of thyroid for nodules.
Avatar m tn I started clonezepam for my sleep apnea, I twitch all the time in my leg/arm before I fall asleep and I seem to have slept well even without bipap once I felt this urge to write something and I started twitching like I had a seizure for a few minutes
Avatar f tn You could try one of the non-opioid drugs used for neuropathic pain, though these may not be as effective as opioids and some may have a component causing dependence. It would be discuss this in detail with your treating doctor. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn Sometimes, the memory loss may affect events from much further back in the past. In addition, the individual often finds it difficult to retain new information and may ask the same question, such as "What day is it?" or "What are we supposed to be doing today?" repetitively. There is, however, no loss of personal identity and close friends or relatives are usually recognised. The physical appearance of the person is normally unchanged.
Avatar n tn Hey I dont know how much this is going to help but I just went to Wikipedia for you and the side effects are huge. Tell her if she has the Wellbutrin in her system and she uses that the half life is 10hr IR and 17hr SR. Damn. That stuff is bad. I hope you can get a proper answer for her. Sorry and good luck.
Avatar m tn I've had 7 episodes now, first one on its own, then a week later 4 days in a row, then another week later 2 days in a row. Can't find anything on the Internet... Was hopeful with nystagmus but it turns out that's not it. Any comments appreciated.
Avatar f tn Yes TMS is FDA approved and has been for a while. I put a NAMI link in because Wikipedia links can have misinformation. This should explain better: I don't believe TMS unlike ECT affects memory long term. It does affect the brain but unlike ECT it does not cause seizures. It appears to have a safer long term side effect profile.
585414 tn?1288944902 I think this photo speaks volumes. It is a photo of my grandmother in front of the Buddha statues at Bamiyan that were two decades later destroyed by the Taliban. Anyone can agree that that act was horrific and destructive. But where does that urge come from? And to a far lesser extent can we see it in ourselves? And stop it? When my grandparents visited Afghanistan as part of a global tour in 1973 it was a socialist country.
Avatar n tn Later I had seizure but I went to the ER since my symptoms were so severe- which is what spurned the tests(MRI, EEG, SD EEG) in the 1st place. But now my Dr. discounts me of having a stroke or seizure and I do not understand why. No reasons are ever given, even when asked. So this is how I came about to getting an MRI. I remember the results stating pineal cysts then being told, don't worry abou it. It can not be the cause of your symptoms.
Avatar f tn I would assume that her autistic self-injurious behaviors (aimed mostly at her poor little head) have culminated in her seizure activity, but that's just my guess, and the etiology of the seizures proably doesn't matter much in the long-run. Although she has been ambulatory for many years, her freedom for mobility has been severely curtailed due to the protocols put in place by her caregiving agency for safety concerns, i.e.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have WMSN, and wrote the wikipedia article after researching like mad, and not wanting anyone else to have to search as hard or as long for the basic info!
Avatar f tn The pain went away and i felt normal again. 1 month ago i started having a seizure in my sleep and was hospitalized 2 times in one week. They said they were PNES seizures and all my tests came back normal. Since then ive bad seizures every other day that last 2 minutes but im aware of whats going on and i cant speak. Its hard to speak and i start coughing to where i want to throw up.
Avatar m tn The treatment is a mix and match of analgesics, anti depressants, anti seizure medications, physical therapy and counseling. You can check this out at the Wikipedia. Consult an internal medicine specialist. The other possibility is severe anemia putting strain on the sternum and ribs to produce more red blood cells. Get your PCP to run tests. If this is the case you would need to consult a hematologist.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else experienced wierd joint laxity or seizure activity...this is noted in animals I as per my vet) I'm convinced it is due to tramadol...I'm angry and want to sue...
Avatar f tn The past two days I’ve mainly been battling with a constant full, bloated feeling in my stomach and horrendous acid reflux first thing in the morning. I’ve lost my appetite and have to force myself to eat, after which I suffer from severe stomach cramps, gas and the rest. Even hours after eating, I still feel stuffed and my stomach always looks distended and is tender to touch.
Avatar n tn I have been feeling an entire range of emotions ranging from mania to depression to violence. In addition I seem to be going though some UNEXPLAINABLE PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS as well. The only way I can explain what is going on with me is that I periodically experience brief seizures. My ***** nervious system seems to shutdown reading me unable to feel things. It lasts for only a few seconds Then I see flashes of light experience de'ja vu. I know it sounds extreme, but it's not that bad.
Avatar n tn This is usually due to too much electrical activity in a certain area in the brain. A thorough examination is required in order to determine the cause. An initial work-up should include: 1) Routine blood work with cardiac enzymes. 2) ECG (electrocardiogram) to look at the heart’s electrical activity to see if there is brady/tachycardia. Also, ECGs are helpful in diagnosing heart attacks or ischemia (lack of blood) 3) Cat Scan of the Head to rule out any bleeds in the brain.
