Common Questions and Answers about Seizure in toddler

seizure

Avatar f tn Since then, every somewhat elevated temperature will result in a seizure. We have been to the emergency a few times and were always told that he is in fact experiencing febrile seizures which are of no concern. The seizures never last longer than a few minutes, at most. One ER doctor did however order an EEG since on one occasion he's had multiple seizures (10 short seizures in 2 hours). The EEG showed "activity" on one side of the brain (right temple).
Avatar f tn Upon coming home she was diagnosed with a seizure disorder, CP, hypothyroid and low GH related to poor nutrition. We always suspected she was younger than stated and her records indicated prematurity. Her endocrinologist performed a bone age x-ray and said she is 6 years and 10 months. We were shocked and he stated he feels this is her real chronological age. Can this be her age? She looked like a toddler when we got her at age 2 and now looks like a young preschooler.
Avatar f tn Yeah they keep saying it was a fever seizure because she has had one before. But the one she had before she had a little bit of a fever then it spiked and she had a seizure. But this time she was fine running around acting fine . Then all of a sudden she had a seizure. And she didn't have a fever tell after they tried to put I iv in a hour later. But even then was not even hot. Then we she had her seizure at night we went back to the er and she didn't even have a fever.

Avatar f tn The next day, Friday he had another seizure around the same time in the morning as the first. Still no fever and no sign of illness. During this seizure he was walking with high steps and his eyes were not looking in the direction he was moving. He did not respond to my voice or actions. It also lasted around two minutes. After this seizure he was very tired and grouchy but he had an EEG scheduled for that afternoon so I had to keep him awake.

887324 tn?1241730037 As you mention above, seizures are often followed by prolonged periods of confusion. Seizure threshold (the likelyhood a seizure will occur) is lowered (i.e. seizures are more likely to occur) when a child has fevers, has not slept well, or is otherwise stressed. Besides ensuring proper sleep and nutrition, it is important to understand that when a child has epilepsy, treating him/her with seizure medications is essential, despite the side effects that some seizure medications have.
Avatar n tn They are called benign, not because the seizures are not real, but in the vast majority of cases, these seizures will cease in 1 to 2 years. ....... , the seizures seen in benign infantile seizures are often very difficult to control (as you can atest to). Usually, they occur in clusters and can occur every few hours (as you accurately describe)." She has had numerous tests for various different things, MRIs, spinal tap etc.and nothing has been found.

Avatar n tn It could just indicate that they are showing an interest in their surroundings. It could also be seizure activity, only an EEG (electroencephalogram) can help confirm this. This is done under the guidance of a neurologist. If it persists consult your doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar n tn I have a 16 month old daughter. She started rolling her eyes about 2 months ago. Just for a second. We noticed it about 10 times over a period of 2 weeks. Had a CT scan, came back normal. Since then, she went almost a month without doing this at all (at least that we saw). Tonight, she did it about 3 times. Always seems to occur late in the evening when she's somewhat sleepy. Have an EEG scheduled, but not sure I want to put her thru that.

Avatar f tn Had a seizure last night luckily while sitting down talking to P.... Now I guess this means I have to call the doc and get on some sort of medication--haven't been taking my Depakote for ~a month and a half. Felt strange all day yesterday, but not ultra strange as I have in the past, and certainly no jolts. Happened while I was in the middle of talking!
