seizure

Avatar f tn Our 1 year old Shih Tzu runs in circles for 10 to 15 minutes (or longer) before she urinates, also, she is extremely skiddish, she was 4 months old when we got her. .....at least she goes outside, but I have to stand there as she has to be kept on a leash.
1448838 tn?1284735252 Sounds to me like you have a normal Shih Tzu. All three of my families Shih Tzu act the same; they sleep for 99% of the day and when they play they sprint around the house at the speed of light, for about 20 minutes then it is back to sleep. My wife thinks the dog is depressed, but that is just how Shih Tzu are. They are very low energy dogs. As for the puking, that is also pretty normal. Shih Tzu have very sensitive stomachs. My dog pukes often in the morning, usually once a week.
Avatar n tn If she were mine, I'd take her to the vet asap. A shih tzu who isn't bouncing around and watching everything with those "shih tzu eyes" needs vet treatment. I hope she is fine.
212161 tn?1599427282 i have a 17 week shih tzu her eyes run all the time, my last shih tzu his eyes did not run, what causes it and how do i stop it any ideals , thank you .
Avatar n tn Our shih tzu vomits up the same thing but we have never put him on a special diet. He eats almost anything BUT he doesn't eat grass outside like our other dogs do. The other dogs eat grass and then vomit; it seems to cleanse their insides but the shih tzu doesn't do this. Just a guess - maybe you both have shih tzus with sensitive tummies. Ask your vet about eating grass (not smoking it). Like I said, this is just a guess.
193609 tn?1292180293 i have shis tzu and never would they be a outside dog, my first one was 42 pds yup what i said and he was purebreed , he lived to be 17 years old , now i havea little girl shes only 15 pds and love of our life, they are not outside dogs and if he had been inhouse all this time than put out side thats more of a shock to him than bring him back in.
Avatar n tn It comes down to responsible pet ownership and being alert to what is going on - which is why Mr. Macho shih tzu is not allowed to bark in stranges dogs' faces. Shih tzus are tough little guys but no match for a big, aggressive dog.
Avatar n tn I have a Multesse cross Shih Tzu male, 4 years old. He shakes for no apparent reason and a couple times his back legs have been affected and look like they are cramped. They are not stiff or locked and he is not aggressive throughout. It lasts 10-15 minutes as an average and I am concerned. He does have the habit of walking on his back legs to get picked up so I know the back legs are strong.
Avatar n tn My shih tzu seems depressed. She wont play with us anymore all she wants to do is sleep. Whe got a new shih tzu 3 months old to keep the older one company. The first one acts like the puppy mother from cleaning him to playing with him.
Avatar n tn We wanted to have a little companion for her so yesterday we picked up a 9 week Shih Po puppy. Molly, the Shih Tzu came for the ride, which ended up being approximately 5 hours round trip. Following the trip we noticed our Shih Tzu with excess saliva, so much so that we had to wipe it off her face all evening. The next day (today), she still has some frothing. We are not too concerned, as she is acting completely normal, eating, drinking, peeing, pooping.
Avatar n tn My 8 month shih tzu has been throwing up bright yellow bile every other day. Sometimes he throws up in the middle of the night, but most of the time it is between 10 and 3 in the afternoon. We have recently switched his food from beneful (which his old owners had him on) to Innova Evo with chicken. I have read that this is caused by an empty stomach. He eats twice a day, and most times when he throws up he has food down, he just isnt eating it. But he seems to enjoy the food when he eats it.
428886 tn?1217682034 We just got a year old shih tzu female. She is very loving but there is a problem that I have noticed and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. She eats her poopoo. Why would she do that?
4187386 tn?1350796397 I have a Post about my Shih Tzu in here but had to compose myself before I write this question. My little Paisleys liver failed. vet has her on meds and she is up eating walking and going potty again but still sleeping a lot. She went from having fun to crashing in a few days to doing none of eating or walking etc. My question. Is this normal progression? give your pet this drug just to keep them going a little longer, The vet said there's nothing that can be done her liver it gone.

Avatar n tn My shih tzu all of a sudden has a swollen stomach and is drinking water more than he usually dogs. he has even been standing by my grandmothers food barking for water. his belly has never been that huge and he weighs more than usual also what should i do? i am worried!!
Avatar f tn My 11 year old shih tzu has had mitral valve disease for 3 years which will eventually become CHF according to her cardiologist. She's currently taking about as much medication as my elderly parent including enalapril, vetmedin, spironolactone, hydrocodone (to control the bad coughing that caused her to produce seizure like symptoms and eventually faint several times) and theophylline as a bronchodialator.
Avatar n tn My 9 month old Shih tzu suddenly died this morning. I am so confused as to what happen, I am hoping to get some kind of information as to what might have happened to him. He was just fine yesterday, acting normal and then this morning after taking him out to do his business, he just started to make this horrible crying sound, and started having what looked like a seizure. Within seconds he went limp and just stopped breathing. Can you tell me what might cause this? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I have a 5 year old Shih Tzu who weighs about 10 pounds. She has muscle spasms that affect all 4 limbs every 2-3 months (sometimes longer apart). When the spasms occur, her extremities stick straight out, she starts shaking, and she breathes heavily. They last for 1-2 minutes, and she's fine afterwards. She's also had a slipped disc twice, and was on pain meds, antiinflammatories, and cage rest when they happened.
Avatar m tn My 12 year old Shih Tzu was sleeping on the a carpet that he blends in with really well and I was walking past and accidentally stepped on the very edge of his tail. As a reaction, I took a hop to take the weight off my foot but at the same time he snarled and sat up and whipped his head back to look at what was happening and the side of his face and the whole side of my big toe to the ball of my foot connected. I heard an audible "whack!
