Avatar f tn Reglan (metoclopromadine) is a very cheap medication, unfortunately, it is also metabolized in the kidneys, so a too high dose results in toxic levels in the blood. My husband and I discovered that completely bypassing the GI tract by using reglan injections worked much better in the end. Chica didn't get the extra pyramidal side effects (extreme restlessness, shaking and trembling) from the reglan injections that she got from the oral meds.
Avatar f tn worried about is this really quick like movement. She moves like she is kicking her feet quick or doing the move boxers do on the punching bags lol its so quick and I can visibly see it. Is it normal???
Avatar m tn 1) if truly epilepsy, it would be accompanied with more seizure like activity, not just the head tremors; and 2) the restlessness at night (though this definitively only started after the medication, so I am confident this is a medication side effect). Are these two issues anything to be worried about re: another condition?
Avatar f tn Some boxers just drool a lot, naturally. There is nothing wrong with her. Buy a bunch of cheap washcloths to have around the house to to use for wiping her face. Use them and then throw them in the laundry. If it bothers you, then this might not be the dog for you. Sorry.
Avatar n tn My sister gave him 4 drops of Rescue Remedy for dogs (the recommended dose) to calm his barking and overexcitement which can sometimes escalate to a seizure. It knocked him out cold. I tried 2 drops and it did the same but for a shorter period of time. I'm wondering if there could be an interaction with the phenobarbitol that would increase the effect. I would like to be able to give him something to calm him down that wouldn't hurt him, but this reaction concerns me.
Avatar m tn Nick, My seizure was due to an anaplastic cytoma (brain tumor). I wish it was a fluke..... Your seizure was most likely not due to a concusion when you were a kid. If it had to do with head impacts, then boxers or football players would be having seizures.
Avatar f tn I had a 10 year old male Boxer. He died back in August. I was wondering if anyone could explain what might have happened to him, if I give all the signs of what happened. Well here it goes... I was going to work on a monday night and my dog "Jake" followed me to the door like always and I told him to be a good boy and to go back to bed, when I came home tuesday morning he was outside because my mother-in-law babysits for me and she put him out.
Avatar f tn The funny thing is, I've answered honestly every time (yes--earlier in my life, not in my current situation), and NOT ONE SINGLE MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL has ever asked me about that information in my file. It's always a little test I have in my mind--will they review my file and see that and ask? And no one has ever passed. I don't bring it up because it's never relevant (OB-GYN visits for pregnancy, thyroid surgery, etc.--not a lot to do with abuse that happened decades ago)...
148691 tn?1260198503 then she hits the brakes suddenly at a stop sign (of course I'm keeping my distance since Maddie is in the backseat) and points her car to turn to the right... and then turns to the left! AAARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!! Are you kidding me?? what the heck was that? so, that is a pet peeve that I have... and as I was throwing my mental fit, I got to think: boy that would be a good ole post in MH! lol Another petpeeve I have..... women wearing real tight pants....
Avatar n tn Oh, I used to make such ceremony out of it. Now I jab myself in my boxers standing in the kitchen.... wham-bam-thanky-mam...I'm done. <small>please take note of my restraint here sister... there's a lot of good material in that post up there...
Avatar m tn He has been in perfect health but just out of the blue had a grand mal seizure. I took him to the veterinary hospital as it was in the evening and he had two more there. Within 24 hours they got me in to see a neurologist and now he's being treated for a bad case of Valley Fever. He drinks a ton and eats more, but my biggest concern is his lethargy and lack of coordination. It takes him so much effort to get up, particularly the hind legs; it's so sad to watch.
Avatar f tn was up to 108* she had been in the seizure for about 2 hours. We had to travel to the hospital 40 miles away. We talked to the vet and decided that we would put Coco down. My wife and I had talked about this situation many times sense Coco was ill. It was very hard for me Coco was a Christmas present to me 10 years ago to the day. I'm feeling really guilty this morning missing her and her ****-eyed looks back at me when we talked. I knew she understood everything I would say to her.
1098760 tn?1266451497 No One wants muddy paw prints in their store. Or a dog shaking off the wet in a restaurant. Service dogs are in most cases exempt from the Fee for state or county licensing. Housing Issues, save for the dangerous breed restrictions, and all public entrance. Public is a place which requires the transfer of Money to be made for services. Some Doctors Offices are likely to be jerks about a dog in training. Be Prepared. Your Best Interest? Be Vague.
Avatar n tn Our 4 year old frenchie had a seizure about 2 months ago. She also was in perfect health always. She had a couple out of nowhere. The vet put her on seizure meds that seemed to help. We took her on vacation this week and she had a seizure after over a month being fine. The seizure are legs jerking, losing balance and falling, and foam or liquid coming out of her mouth. During bad seizures she&#39;d go to the bathroom as well.
Avatar n tn MY "Ginger": had a seizure April 02,2012 in the evening tried desperatly to get in contact with a Vet. clinic, when I did my neighbor went with me to help with Ginger, on the way, Jane said"she is gone" there has not been one day I have not cried as I am doing now. Ginger had a good day earlier, her walk, treats and of course love. All the talk in this world has not helped the missing and the terrible grief.
1963554 tn?1325451090 How do others deal about the pain they are going through knowing that their dog only has a few weeks left? My cocker spaniel who just turned 11years old in Oct. only has a few weeks left, as I was told by a specialist who took his ultra sound in Dec. 26, 2011. He said that his right kidney is destroyed and that his left kidney has about 25% left. He has a tumor within his bladder and his urine cannot pass thru which goes into his kidney and damages it.
1832268 tn?1326819610 My dog is fortunate in that she is right now super fit and well, you would not guess there was anything wrong with her. Her only symptom is she is drinking more than twice as much water as before, and she has bed "accidents", quite easily dealt with by plastic sheeting under a cotton sheet, and dog-diapers with pads. She is also fortunate that this was caught at a very early stage. Kidney failure cannot be reversed. The kidney -unlike the liver- has no powers of regeneration.
Avatar n tn I am in the process of getting off of tramadol. It was prescribed for me for ocassional use for mild to moderate pain like headache, muscle soreness, etc. I used it only ocassionally for several months. About 4 months ago, I became involved in a fairly intense project and was experiencing more discomfort. Without really thinking much about it, I started using tramadol every day and then increased this to 2-3 times each day.
1932256 tn?1327949940 He vomits (violently) many times a day, can't eat more than 1/2 cup of soup or a glass of Instant Breakfast in a day. He lays in his bed and I can hear him throwing up and moaning in agony and I don't know what to do!!! He can't take any Xanax or any opiods of any kind or the clinic won't give him the methadone, so I have no idea how to help ease his pain. Please, please tell me what I can do ... This is ripping my heart out!!!!
Avatar n tn My hands and feet are almost always cold (in fact, they are right now), and I fall in and out of relatively mild depression. I have been told that carrying the thalassemia trait has no obvious symptoms, but I've been poking around forums a little bit, and the symtoms I experience seem to be fairly common. I'm still looking for ways to lessen the intensity of these symptoms, but for me I've found that maintaining physical activity helps, as well as not oversleeping, or overeating.
Avatar n tn ) This is usually a feeling of lightheadedness and a drop in blood pressure. I can usually avoid the seizure by putting my head between my legs to get more blood to my brain. I have read that others have had a diagnosis of GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) and IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) related to these events. I have been diagnosed with both in the past. I am sure that this is vasovagal fainting associated with valsalva.
