Avatar n tn Hi there, first of all, please excuse my english... I have been experiencing lately a very strange feeling, that usually starts like if I was having an idea or "remembering" something, like an object or situation, but immediately after it starts to connect to other images that seems like they were hidden somewhere in my mind, and I could not get to them before.
Avatar n tn Palinopsia can be caused by either seizure, trauma or lesion in the right parietal lobe or occipital lobe. As you have had both seizure and trauma (hitting your head) I am not sure what to tell you. Since you have had spiking in the temporal lobe (would sound to me like mesial temporal lobe seizures) I would think that seizure is more likely. When your neurologist calls you back, it might be a good idea to revist another EEG and see if the spiking has changed.
393986 tn?1303829575 Hello. A seizure is defined as an episode of central nervous system dysfunction. A seizure may or may not be accompanied by convulsions. Your seizures are unusual. Do you lose consciousness when you have the episode? usually convulsions are tonic (only spasms) or tonic - clonic (spasms followed by repeated contractions). An EEG confirms a seizure. Has it been done?
Avatar f tn Hi, my 17 yro son was found last week, on the ground, across the street from his HS. Apparently he was having a severe Grand Mal Seizure. EMS reported he had been seizing for at least 15 minutes. Verset was administered to stop his seizing. However, he has a history of neg reaction to Versed as well as many other medications. This is due to a medobolic disorder, which causes various reactions and poor metabolizing of all drug's.
Avatar m tn ) that effort is depends on the neurologic examinatoion the veterinarian does and its findings, your willingness to pursue and pay for advaced testing and the history of seizure frequency, progress and other factors. Epilepsy is therefore a diagnosis of "exclusion" which means after nothing else that can be treated is identified, the seizures are treated as the primary problem. Even with treatment, epilepsy induced seizures cannot be fully eliminated in all cases.
Avatar n tn The brain was evaluated with T1 weighted digital imaging, axial FLAIR T2 and diffusion weighted images, coronal proton density and T2 weighted images and T1 weighted axial and coronal images pre and post intravenous injection with 20 cc of Omniscan, Interpretation: Diffusion weighted images demonstrate no areas of abnormal increased signal intensity. There is an incidental small midline posterior fossa arachnoid cyst without significant mass effect.
Avatar n tn Sometimes all the images in my head get small. Everything that I think of dramatically shrinks. It makes my heart rate go up and I have to push my tongue to the roof of my mouth because sometimes it feels like it shrunk too. Or sometimes I can't even feel it so I feel like I'm going to swallow it. What is this?
492869 tn?1285022533 I think I described my headache in my previous journal entry, and I posted a couple of my MRI images in my pictures section. My appointment with the new Neurologist is still a month away.
Avatar f tn MRI scan today was to follow up on possible seizure activity viewed on EEG during sleep study (polysomnography). I have not spoken to my doctor, but my father (a radiologist) insists that all of the images look "normal". I am not feeling so confident. Can anyone please give me some feedback on this image, PROP T2 TRF?
Avatar f tn These headaches are called pre-ictal because they occur before the seizure activity starts. They are one type of aura, the symptoms that warn of a coming seizure. These headaches are generally brief. They can be throbbing, steady, or sharp. Pre-ictal headaches are said to affect about 20% of people who have seizures that are difficult to control, but they may be under-reported because the seizure may interfere with memory of the headache.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed as having simple and partial complex seizres in 2001 after experiencing a Tonic Clonic seizure on the soocer field - I was coaching. I have been on seven different medications for my seizures with no relief. I now have to use a walker due to gait ataxia, I went through eight physical therapy sessions and was advised more would not helf and to continue the use of he walker due to high risk of falls.
Avatar f tn Have progressed to an almost constant underlying headache for the last 4 months. I also had a supsected seizure in Sept last year. Had a CT scan at the time of seizure and there was nothing suspicious on that. Tested for epilepsy - all ok. Have been increasingly dizzy lately and feel like i have to concentrate much harder than before to think about anything (like typing this)...
Avatar f tn You need to see a nerologist and maybe sart anti seizure meds( nasty stuff they didnt agree with me). The seizure meds should help but may not with headaches. For me it was because of irritation on my brain called an AV Malformation(google it).You should get a CAT scan or MRI to make sure its not that.
Avatar m tn My 10 year old, very healthy, daughter recently had her first ever seizure and the MRI results were as follows; MRI images through the brain demonstrate a moderate sized developmental venous anomaly located within the left frontal lobe. This is best demonstrated on the contrast-enhanced study. There is a large supplying cortical vein supplying the DVA which measures 3mm x 30mm.
Avatar m tn Cyclic smell distortions do not happen in your nose. You actually have a sensory seizure disorder, which is caused by a slight chemical imbalance in your brain. Unlike motor seizures, sensory seizures are partial seizures and they don’t manifest in a loss of motor control. Instead they affect how people perceive sounds or images, or in my case, smells. These seizures are activated when you stimulate the nerves in your nose by laughing or talking.
Avatar m tn I am not asking what a FLAIR means but what it is...what is a sulci ...I have had a gran mal seizure and many partial seizures and am on keppra and vimpat. Seeing a neurologist who does not recommend surgery and a neuro surgeon who says do a biopsy immediately. Caught between two disciplines treatment and surgery? Can anybody tell me what the word FLAIR means and sulci?
Avatar f tn During testing they found a web in my brain but said it wouldn't affect me and the seizure was a freak thing. Over the past 4 years since I lost consciousness a few times and the neurologist said I was just fainting and nothing is wrong, my last spell was a year ago. I was fine with that until now (this next part is too much information so don't read on if you are sensitive to "woman issues").
6680290 tn?1383747409 My 15 year old healthy son had a seizure. He has never had one before. ct, eeg normal. the Mri showed Nonspecific focal increased T2 signal within right thalamus, of questionable significance. This may represent sequelae of remote demyelination or infection. No acute intracranial abnormality. what would this mean. Dr said nothing to worry about unless has another seizure we should just watch this.
Avatar n tn Stress itself doesn't cause epilepsy, but the problems stress can cause (like sleep deprivation) certainly can cause someone with a seizure-prone brain to have a seizure. Epilepsy can show up at any age. When it does, no matter how old someone is, you first want to exclude serious problems like tumors, infection, vasculitis, etc. Your doctors seem to be following you closely. That is good.
Avatar m tn The study reveals an extra-axial soft tissue intensity lesion in the right cerebellopontine angle cistern and mesauring approx 10.8x7.0 mm in size and appearing isohypotense on T1W and iso-hyperintense on T2W images with intense enhancement on Post-Gad images; SMALL MENINGIOMA • Please do let me know the symptoms that my mother is facing is due to meningioma? • What should I do, do it needed any treatment or only wait and watch?
708379 tn?1229028439 When he borned he was loosing oxygen cause his neck was twisted with the umbilical cord, an emergency C'section was performed, he had a seizure episode for 5 seconds. He was transfered to NICU for 17 days. When he turned 6 months old he had another seizure episode of unknown origin. He was ordered to take Phenobarbital for 2 years. Never had another episode thank God. Now he is 8 years old and he was ordered to have an MRI of the Brain.
Avatar m tn We are trying to rule out possibilities and just want an honest assessment. The MRI followed a staring seizure (no other body movements). I would greatly appreciate your input on reading these MRI results. Our pediatric neurologist declared these fine but I don't feel quickly dismissing anything is appropriate (as he did), especially after what we put our son through just to get the MRI.
202665 tn?1248810333 I immediately made an appointment with my psychiatrist who termed the repeat visuals and voices as a seizure and told me to increase the dose of Klonopin which helps me relax more at night and sleep better so I don't have these hallucinations anymore. although I still sometimes see images or can sense things happening during the day but just brush them off thinking my mind is tired or i've retained some old memory in my head.
1058625 tn?1269788249 Everything is black but yet I get crazy flashes of partial images in crazy colors oh yeah and that happens even when I'm not panicing. I can't keep my balance at all if I close my eyes while standing. I can never get up while having an attack unless someone is dragging me. I have constant numbness now in my left foot on the outside that's new-ish. But no matter how much I research I can never find anyone that relates to this falling sensation.
Avatar f tn That in most instances is a straightforward and classical description of an eye (ophthalmic) migraine, which may or may not have a headache associated with it. Use the search feature and the archives to read about these. Go to google images and type in "migraine scintillating scotomas" There are other things that might cause this such as atypical seizure. TIAs due to disease of the heart, brain or blood vessels will generally have gotten much worse over a 2 year period.
Avatar f tn My neck cracked again a year ago, and I started having even worse problems that are too complicated to go into( brain issues) neurologist has tried different kinds of seizure/migraine meds with no luck. MY QUES. IS ... are there any other ways to get images of my cervical vertebrae and spine than MRI or CATs I believe I have calcification on my vertebra that has broken off and is pressing or done damage to my spine or is pinching off sufficient blood flow to my brain?
Avatar n tn I had viral meningitis about 20 yrs ago, a probable concussion, have migraines and had a partial complex seizure disorder that was diagnosed about 16 years ago but now the neurologist doesn't think I have it anymore. A little over a year ago I had severe headaches, my left eyelid was drooping and twitching.
Avatar n tn When I'm seeing the glare/triple images/etc, it's not because my eyes are deveated due to the exotropia. I don't like it when my eye moves outward (because I see 2 different overlapping images if I do), so I try to keep it pulled in as much as possible. Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn As for cyst to cause seizure, it should be large enough to cause pressure symptoms on brain like vomiting, irritability, headache etc. There is also a family history of seizure; hence there could be a genetic cause for seizure. Was there any fever associated with seizure? The doctor is right in starting Carbamazepine in comparison to phenobarbitone as latter causes more side effects than former.
