My proudest moment was when my 18 year old grandson went to university last year after having 3 years of hell at school with bullying, we nearly lost him to depression and suicide but he bounced back with lots of support and love from his family. I am 60 and have been priviledged to have had a brilliant life.
Avatar f tn A commonly overlooked cause of ADHD behavior is the absence seizure. During an absence seizure, the brain's normal activity shuts down. The child stares blankly, sometimes rotates his eyes upward, and occasionally blinks or jerks repetitively, he drops objects from his hand, and there may be some mild involuntary movements known as automatisms. The attack lasts for a few seconds and then it is over as rapidly as it begins.

Just curious to hear what other moms think about this topic. I know the risk of getting a childhood disease is much greater but I am still cautious.
544292 tn?1268886268 I am an addiction counselor for last 18 years on a hospital detox unit. My first acquaintance with "ultram" 12 years or so ago was when the drug rep brought us several cases of ultram samples. Told us how great it was. We read the literature, checked the PDR... near the end there was a short paragraph; something like "potential for abuse and dependence considered minimal.
Avatar f tn She's even broken a sweat before from doing it. My doctor first said it may be a seizure, but since she is easily distracted, does not think it is seizures. She has recommended an eeg just to be safe. She is now 7 1/2 months old and does this "thing" every day. Does anyone know if there is a formal diagnosis for this? Will she grow out of it?
1098760 tn?1266451497 Most schools require that the dog first complete a basic obedience class first. While the AKC is geared toward purebred dogs, the Canine Good Citizen certification is open to any dog including mutts. The idea behind it is mostly socializing your dog to new people and new situations. It's often a prerequisite for therapy dog certification. The result is that your dog becomes an ambassador for all dogs by demonstrating calm, friendly and non-destructive behavior.

Avatar f tn My son has been given every chance, opportunity and consequence imaginable. First off, before anyone judges- I've tried with him. I've had early intervention, home services, positive reinforcements, reward charts, time outs and grounding etc. Not even spankings work, he enjoys that. Nothing has helped or come close to working. I've had him in residential treatment and he liked it, looked at it like it was a resort. I've had him in day treatment, he has been in counseling since he was 6.

480448 tn?1426952138 For a person who is experiencing this for the first time...it can be VERY upsetting and disturbing. I was there before as well...the first time I went through this, I was convinced there was something wrong with my eyes. Everything just "looked" so weird, so odd. I almost felt like I was having out of body experiences...or was watching the world through a movie projector, instead of through my own eyes and mind.
1929318 tn?1323240723 Anyway, I did just stop and felt the first night like I was having a heart attach. Please consider a taper. Good news (for me) , was that after 3 nights of no use my sleep returned normal! Expect not to sleep for a few nights and know you won't die from lack of sleep. I would check your BP regularly and double check with your Doctor that he really wants you to JUST stop? Sending you sleepy energy!
