seizure

Avatar n tn What causes "shuddering syndrome" in infants? I know it is a ped neuro issue. What are the implications?
Avatar n tn They put her on phenabarbotol and released her. As her weight increased they did not increase the med so she had another seizure. They increased the meds and she continued to see a nuerologist. She was progressing good doing all the things she should as far as development, so after 6 months on meds the Dr. decided to start to wein her off of them. After 1 yr with no more problems the Dr. released her from his care.
Avatar f tn They can be managed by identifying the food that causes the issue in the brain (such as the seizure). In your case, she is only 11 weeks and milk/formula/ breast milk is the only food that she is taking, unless her doctor already took her off the milk based food. This is very easy to replace with a non-milk food type. Good luck and God bless your baby. I know what you are going through.

419158 tn?1316575204 I would make an appointment for a neurologist to see if he does have a seizure disorder. He may be really really tired after a seizure too.
Avatar n tn At any rate, my son has been seizure free for almost 2 weeks. Ive tried to eliminate any possible causes that could have led to him having seizures. The circumstances for my boy when he had his were, constipated/withholding stool for 3 days, wife drinking LOTS of caffeine (shes exclusively breast feeding mind you), I had seen that my wife gave him water on 2 seperate occaisions, my wifes mother fed him green beans (which people in my family are allergic to).
797314 tn?1237603960 Just for more information, I discovered this when researching epilepsy for my 16 y/o.. Vitamin B-6 Dependent, causes seizures in newborns and infants, I know it seems way out but it is a medical condition....Look it up.
165078 tn?1255610007 It just shoots up really fast and that's what causes the seizure. But it also goes away really fast too, it's not like a regular fever that lasts for a while. His eyes rolled back, he got stiff as board then his who body shook, and when I picked him up he went limp. His color went to white but I dont' remember anything about his lips....I was in a panic though so was mostly worried about him breathing!!
Avatar n tn The results are proved negative hence there are no other metabolic causes to your daughter’s seizures. Next time when she has seizure, the line of management after discussing with your daughters neuro-physician will remain same. Bye.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have a question about infants and siezure. My son roughly about 4.5 months old has several (7)myoclonic siezures. They last at the very most about 20 seconds, most were only 10 seconds. His siezures consist of rapid flicking of his tounge. And sometimes (not every siezure) very minimal movement of his mouth. These siezures started on 9/22. The last siezure that he had was on 9/24 @ 12:00 pm. We immediatley visited our pediatrician and he recommended that we see a neurologist.
1677750 tn?1304516796 I knew this wasnt normal, I've been around babies my entire life and had never seen one do this. It looked JUST like a seizure. We followed up with the pediatrician next morning and she as well shook it off...the episodes got worse and I took him BACk to the doctor where the finally referred us to Childrens Hospital.
Avatar n tn The jerking itself seems to occur spontaneously, but I have noticed shortly after waking, when tired, and when stimulated, especially with Mommy doing extensive tickling and giggling. My question is what is the eventual likely prognosis of such an event in an infants life? Should I expect full recovery with no lasting effects? Learning Disabilities? Possible ASD/Austim? Metal Retardation? In addition, is this a rare occurance?
Avatar m tn You have a very cute daughter!! Diabetes and birth trauma are two vey common causes of seizures and GERD in infants. Diabetes also causes delayed gastric emptying, hearing defects etc. You lost weight in the last month right? This could also be due to diabetes. Also you were on bed rest. Why? Due to high BP? Maternal high BP and diabetes can cause poor fetal growth. At one go and on net it is difficult to reach a diagnosis or know what is wrong.
784382 tn?1376934640 Chronic sinusitis begins with an inflammation of the mucous membranes in your sinuses the air-filled passages around your nose and throat. The inflammation causes fluid buildup eventually plugging the sinus cavity and preventing normal mucus drainage. Did you get the skin and blood tests for allergies done? I agree that meniere’s disease and acoustic neuroma also needs to be ruled out for which I suggest you to get a MRI scan done.
Avatar f tn com WHAT IS SANDIFER'S SYNDROME? Sandifer's Syndrome is described as spastic ¹torticollis and ²dystonic body movements found in infants and children and associated with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. Sandifer's syndrome is commonly mistaken for seizures but thankfully, has no neurological basis whatsoever. Usually you can tell the difference between Sandifer's and seizures as Sandifer's syndrome symptoms will generally appear after feeding time.
Avatar m tn I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out. The last one about 2 years ago stopped me breathing in and out completely for 10 to 15 seconds and I thought I had bought it.
Avatar f tn I have a VERY hard time with this b/c my gut says it isn't a seizure. I mean I have had about ten doctors see him do these spells and when I would say "seizure" they said NO. Anyone dealt with this?????? I am worried sick. I did happen to get the last one on video if anyone thinks they could help me?!?
Avatar f tn html TN (Trigeminal Neuralgia) is a disorder of the fifth cranial (trigeminal) nerve that causes episodes of intense, stabbing, electric shock-like pain in the areas of the face where the branches of the nerve are distributed - lips, eyes, nose, scalp, forehead, upper jaw, and lower jaw. A less common form of the disorder called "Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia" may cause less intense, constant, dull burning or aching pain, sometimes with occasional electric shock-like stabs.
Avatar n tn Has he been seen by a good pediatric NEUROLOGIST, ENDOCRINOLOGIST, and GASTRO-ENTEROLOGIST yet? Here is what helps many infants and toddlers to correct simple constipation, that was caused by antibiotics, or other medications, or illness: The good, beneficial bacteria called "probiotics" are often killed off by antibiotics, medications, illness, etc.
15480 tn?1302533402 She never stopped breathing just labored breathing and her seizure was not a shaking seizure but a eyes rolling limp seizure.... We learned CPR right after that and it did happen again and you know what I did - I ran out of the house screaming for help from the mailman. CPR is uselss on your own child.
Avatar m tn This uptick in severity sent me to the ER at Dupont with her. An EEG showed no signs of seizure activity (she did do it during the EEG), and the neuro said it did not look epilleptic in nature, and was likely benign. We are doing a follow up 24 hour EEG next week. I am wondering, though, if it could be related to an inner ear problem, such as vertigo? The fact that it is always associated with positional changes made me wonder. And if it is not vertigo, and not seizures, what else could it be?
Avatar f tn But school records and enrollments here in the USA do require children to be vaccinated before attending school. So the dr may be okay with not vaccinating infants but sooner then later your child will need to get vaccinated at some point. Everything has its side effects and risks. Even regular tylonal has a list of side effects. Whatever you choose to do i hope your child remains healthy and happy. Best of luck to you and your family.
Avatar dr m tn severe snoring, breathing pauses, and medical complications such as heart disease, depression, heart attack or stroke. I can't say if one definitely causes the other but I can say that there's a definitely link between MS and sleep-breathing problems. Some of you already have sleep apnea. I know it's impractical, but it would be interesting if everyone could get formal sleep studies to see how many people with MS have OSA or UARS.
Avatar n tn As it herniates it actually gets into the spinal column and causes a blockage of spinal fuid (CSF). This blockage, called a syrinx, can cause paralysis. There are sort of 5 types of Chiari. I say "Sort of", because Chiari "0" isn't an official term, but can still cause problems. This is what a minor Chiari is called - basically anything less than around 5mm. Chiari "0" is the only one that will ever change names.
Avatar f tn Recombinant adsorbed hepatitis B vaccine is prepared from transformed Chinese hamster ovary cells, and is a liquid product that contains hepatitis B surface antigen that is rendered insoluble by adding aluminum salt. And causes… Hepatitis B vaccine has a broad spectrum of activity, and 144 genes with different functions, including metabolism and inflammation, were differentially expressed after vaccination.

Avatar f tn He never complained about it, and seemed embarrassed about it. I wonder about what causes it as well. I'll mention that my brother eventually became addicted to drugs and died, and my family very speculatively wonders if his paroxysm of pleasure or excitement might have had something to do with his addiction-proneness. Maybe he knew about a level of euphoria or excitement that, once he had tasted it, couldn't help but pursue it?
Avatar n tn When the temperature of Aspartame exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in AS PA RTAME converts to formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. (Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of fire ants). The methanol toxicity mimics multiple sclerosis; thus people were being diagnosed with having multiple sclerosis in error. The multiple sclerosis is not a death sentence, where methanol toxicity is.
