Avatar f tn //www.stroke.org/en/about-stroke/types-of-stroke/tia-transient-ischemic-attack It is a blockage that causes this and really important to treat. Let me know what you think or if there are any updates since you posted this.
Avatar f tn I was severely depressed after my stroke and increasing my anti-depressant completely took away the depression. It might help him. And maybe not, but it might be worth a try. Wish you the best with your very difficult situation.

Avatar n tn So to those who have been following the birth and scary moments with my little Adam Dale, after more testing today we found out that he had a stroke during or shortly after delivery. They are not sure why but the long term prognosis is pretty good. Still scary as heck but at least we have answers. He seems to be doing really well and has not had any more seizures since early this morning.
Avatar n tn I think you should also ask for an EEG (Electroencephalogram). It may not be a seizure, but a past history of stroke does predispose you for a seizure. Please keep me updated about your MRI.
Avatar f tn blood pressure, but a slight blood clot got to the brain from the hole in the heart and caused a stroke 8 months ago. Last week he had a Tonic Clonic seizure this happened after a very active day of therapy for his left hand which is still not responding, hours at a the YMCa working out and working with his Saebolt which opens and closes the hand. He did have 3 beers the previous day with a buddy and his wife thinks that is what caused it, but the neuorologiest said no.
Avatar f tn can 20 years on dilantin after one seizure, then a stroke with no speech, cause terrible sideeffects?
20906878 tn?1615876675 On the 9th of March,I had an EEG exam for the drop attacks and a multitude of other neuro symptoms I've been having since 2014.During the process everything was fine but in the deep breathing part I felt weird and the tech asked me if i was ok and I said yeah I'm fine carry on,but then she told me that I have been moving my right hand up and down which I hadn't realized and she said that the EGG seems to be fine and only blur part was the deep breathing one.
Avatar f tn Hi. My dad is 63 years old, a survivor of 2 cardiac arrests, a stroke 5 years ago that was accompanied by a seizure. On Saturday he wasn't feeling well with a headache and then became unresponsive. He had a seizure in the ambulance and one in the ER. He was on life support for almost 2 days and thank goodness is is now awake and alert. His memory is very touch and go. He has come along way.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately your additional information of being hospitalised after having a seizure, and your resulting visual, speech etc issues wouldn't typically match 'normal' ischaemic white matter lesions! There must be a lot more additional information on your MRI, and from your neurological assessment, cognitive assessment and other related test results IF the hospital dr's have diagnosed you of having had a small stroke.
Avatar m tn * She had a stroke (or something similar) when she was six which may be related to the seizure. When she went to the ER she had a cat scan which showed some "calcifications" which may be left over from the stroke. * the ER docs did a whole bunch of neurological tests including eeg and all came back negative. * Because of the previous stroke the ER neurologist prescribed Keppra.
5466288 tn?1410485185 I was taken by ambulance to the ER.Every test done to check blood sugar, the heart, and for possible stroke, turned out normal. So I was diagnosed with vertigo, given a prescription for Antivert and rehydrated by IV since I was a little dehydrated.I forgot to mention that my blood pressure was VERY HIGH,although just two weeks prior it was very good.My question is could I have had some sort of seizure while sleeping, that left me with the vertigo and HBP? FYI,I have grand mal epilepsy.
Avatar f tn I know that untreated or uncontroled hypertension and heart conditions as arytmia can be factors of danger of stroke. The seizure is also an alarm you should pay attention too if you arenĀ“t epileptic. If you have a family historu of stroke it is another factor of danger. Do yourself a great favor and visit a neurologist right away...and see a cardiologist and do something about your arrymtia and artereal hypertension.
Avatar n tn Seizures can be caused by alot of things - allergies, heat stroke, lack of sleep, malnutrition, skipping medication, other medical conditions, etc. sounds like you should get a full physical and a battery of tests. Between now and then keeping a journal for your doctors helps.
Avatar m tn The one experience I have with a stroke, diagnosed as a spinal stroke, was there was remaining paralysis. In this case it was a 10 year old large Golden Retriever. We got him back on his feet (rear was the problem and is a weak spot anyway in Goldens) using water therapy. My conclusion from this experience is there will be long term affects, if the dog returns to "normal" I'll guess it was not a stroke.
Avatar n tn If seizures are identified, your relative should be started on an anti-seizure medication. It is important to recognize that seizure medications do have risks such as problems with blood counts, interactions with other medications, drowsiness, dizziness, etc and this should be evaluated and discussed with your neurologist. Thank you for this opportunity to answer your questions, I hope you find the information I have provided useful, good luck.
Avatar m tn My cousin came to my house a couple of hours ago and was completely confused. She was talking about her dead brother as if he were still alive, she wouldn't respond to some questions or respond and then stop, and after when she was in the ambulance, she didn't know her birthday or name. Then she had a seizure once she got to the ER. Can someone please help me, I think she may have had a stroke but I'm not a doctor so I don't know for sure.
Avatar f tn I'm coming to my MS friends on this one because you know so much about things neurological and are sure to have some good ideas. Today my brother-in-law was driving my sister and my niece when his driving became very erratic. He went through a couple of red lights, turned a corner and went up on the curb. Of course my sister and niece were frantic, and my niece was able to switch off the ignition and pull the hand break.
Avatar f tn Follow by seizure like episode with very slurred speech during day. But I can talk after 9 on also can sing clear.
764912 tn?1322711843 So your symptoms are not stroke related which I suppose is something but if not a stroke then what is the question. I was worried about you but glad you have posted.
Avatar n tn oh the poor little tyke....yes indeed she could well have suffered a stroke or seizure or both. I would take her into a Vet asap... I don't know what she was on for meds? it could be a side effect of some meds... can also be due to losing so much of her body weight so quickly causing whats called Hepatic Lipidosis http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2011/12/13/feline-hepatic-lipidosis.
3670518 tn?1351646155 not sure if this was a stroke. or seizure.. her eyes were fine and she ate right after... she didnt seem unconsciense. not sure if this is the meds or reaction to more serious thing to come.
