I have had two pregnancies that I lost and here is what happened: first time I was around 8-9 weeks and had missed m/c w/ d&c and had my period for two weeks and then again two weeks after that my regular period started. It took me 4 more cycles of trying to get pregnant. 2nd time I m/c was on 12/27/10 and I bled for about 5 days immediately and then became pregnant again on 01/09/10...under two weeks later. The body does weird things sometimes.

It happened to me... I got my period 6 weeks after my D&C and then a couple days later I spotted and then nothing and then I spotted again. I think its pretty normal.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I am 40 and had my 2nd m/c this past March. I had a D&C and after my 10-day check-up my OB said sex was fine. I had a "natural" m/c 5 years ago, but I don't recall how long my OB said to wait or if he even said at all. We chose to use condoms for the first cycle b/c we felt like it was better to wait at least 1 cycle before TTC again (among other reasons). We are now pg again and hoping and praying everything goes well this time.

I'm OK with that, my husband and I have been pretty upset about not having heart beats anymore and I'm scheduled for a d&c Monday, but he talked to a friend of his who tried I think after 1 cycle and he got his hopes up! I just want to make sure my body will be ready before we try...I don't think I could handle going through this again, and so soon. So I think we will wait for at least 1 full cycle, thank you! !

Its pretty normal for your cycle to take some time to get back to normal after a loss and/or a d&c. I have needed 3 d&c's, and on average, it has taken about 5 weeks or so to get my first period. Even 8 weeks would be pretty normal. I had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks in Dec and a D&C done. Almost 6 weeks later, I had my first period, which continued for 18 days and I had to have a second D&C for retained tissue. My doctor said that it would take another 4 to 6 weeks for my period to show. My hcg levels tested zero or less than 2 7 days after the second D&C. I bled for 1 day after my 2nd D&C, then started a period on day 9 after 2nd D&C, or 28 days after my first post miscarriage period.

I'm in the process of receiving AI. My mentrual cycle is 28 days, however after my first AI Procedure I've had a second cycle in the same month! (Full blown bleeding). The recommendation varies from Dr to Dr. My Dr told me traditionally they recommended 6 months but studies have show no coorilation between waiting and an increase in successful pregnancy. She told me there was no reason physically I needed to wait if I didn't want to, but recommended waiting till after the first menstrual cycle for dating purposes. However I personally was very off on my cycle for some time after my DNC.
