Common Questions and Answers about Second hand smoke on campus

smoking

746512 tn?1388807580 ve started classes again. I seem to be ultra sensitive now (more than I was last year on campus) of cigarette smoke. I have to walk outside to get to some of classes and if I pass more than one person smoking or get too many wifts in my face, my chest really tightens up and I'm forced to use my rescue inhaler. The problem is this has been an almost daily occurence and I hate taking ventolin that regularly.
9663463 tn?1407525554 Even third hand smoke is dangerous, the smell on clothes, the chemicals on his skin and such. I dealt with it with my first pregnancy and I wouldn't let my hubby near me or touch me and he quit after a few months.
Avatar f tn he want smoke around me. So just look up the facts on second hand smoking then present your facts to your family & let them know your concerns regarding your unborn child.
2006603 tn?1331329327 There are many risks with second hand smoke exposure even for ppl who are not pregnant. Second hand smoke can cause under developed lungs, increase the chance of sids, low birth weight, baby can develop asthma and a bunch of other things too. Its good your fiance doesn't smoke in the house or around you but he should get into the habbit of not smoking in the car either. The nicotine can settle into the fabrics which is the same as smoking a cigarette while being in the room with the baby.
Avatar f tn Look if you're that worried about your baby then seriously just stop going over there. Think about it if you will. You either be alone or go to your grandma's where you will inhale second hand smoke which is way worse than smoking itself. It's terrible that your gma is like that but if she is indeed like that then just stop going over there. She obviously doesn't care to stop so just stay home and try to stay occupied. Your babies health is of the utmost importance.
Avatar f tn No. You can't get high from second hand weed smoke unless someone literally sits there and continuously blows smoke right in your face for countless hours....
Avatar n tn t tell they were until this lady literally exhaled the smoke almost in my face as she walked by and I definitely inhaled some second hand smoke -- it was that strong. I literally had to get off the phone and ask them were they serious. I just got a new job and will be expected to take a drug test next week. I normally wouldn't think much of that episode, but am somewhat concerned because I definitely inhaled some of the second hand smoke as they walked by.
1117137 tn?1345227905 i hear you on the second hand smoke, and i used to be a smoker too, i quit the day i found out i was pregnant - and it wasn't hard cuz i had noticed a week before we found out they weren't doing anything for me- and actually making me turn "green" But my husband still smokes... and i can't stand it!!
Avatar f tn its jus smoking & second hand smoke you jus gotta worry about. more of second hand smoke tho.
Avatar f tn Now that a lot more is known about second-hand smoke, I'm really curious if when I got married to a smoker if that didn't bring on my allergies. Within 1.5 years of being married and living with a smoker, I all of sudden developed severe allergies where I was waking up every 30 minutes because my nose was completely closed up. I became allergic to the world, there's no place I can move to alleviate it.
Avatar n tn There was a video on youtube on the affects of cig smoke to your baby. My bf seen it and how the baby was trying to escape it in the stomach! Now he wont smoke in the car or let me go anywhere that has smoke. But he never smoked in the house in the beginning. He slowed down on his own...i tried not to nag him about it bc i didnt want him to smoke bc i was doing that.
Avatar f tn My partner still smokes and I get his second hand smoke I tell him not to but he says its hard lol I'm early on in pregnancy like 14 weeks and find it kinda disrespectful at times so I can totally understand where you are coming from hun
1310633 tn?1430224091 I'm a gun guy. I have quite a few but am limited to only one hang gun at the current time. The one I chose to keep is my Ruger model 93dc in a 9mm. The reason I kept the 9mm? I am very proficient with it and have shot for fun (not competing with) with local law enforcement and have out shot them. Say what you will about the 9mm...
Avatar f tn There is such a thing as second hand smoke which could cause asthma. My asthma plan is this. I have two inhalers. One inhaler I use twice a day, morning and night. It's called Pulmicort. I've been taking it for years to control my asthma. I also use another inhaler called Bricanol, which I use as needed. So , not every day and in limited quantities. Your doctor would advise you on the amount. I didn't have asthma when I was a child.
Avatar f tn t make her do nothing while living under her roof, I mean she could atleast be considerate knowing you can get second hand smoke and may cause problems for your baby. I suggest you find your own place that's on your budget or get a hotel.
Avatar n tn t test positive and even if they were to pick up a trace they could tell by the levels of it was ingested or second hand. Either way to be honest I smoked my whole pregnancy with my 2ND daughter and only stopped the month before I was due and never had a problem (I'm not suggesting picking the habit back up ijs you shouldn't worry) I do however avoid all smoke with this pregnancy and definitely don't permit it in my house or car.
Avatar f tn Like i dont want this to effect my baby. Aint second hand smoke suppose to be worse?? Idk it gets me so mad. How could this effect my baby is the question? Am i over reacting. anybody else have the same problem? Iv been trying so hard to make sure my baby is going to be healthy & then people be smoking around me & i have no say once so ever . Avatar n tn Later on I found out that she was pretty promiscuous when it came to sex...mainly with other males on campus and her high school friends. After our second encounter of unprotected sex, a few weeks later im sure I had the first outbreak of genital herpes...i had an itching/burning sensation on my penis ( I am not circumcised) where there were little red dots (presumably blisters). Since that one outbreak, I haven't experienced anything to that nature.
Avatar f tn However, second hand smoke might. Also, when the baby arrives, being high may not be the best thing. Babies require present and full minded parents to care for them. :>) Might be time for a life style change. good luck with the baby.
Avatar n tn s father... and she my daughter had an asma atack when she was born and it was for the second hand smoke ......so try to tell her nicely to at least do it while you there .....hope she understands ....good luck..
Avatar f tn I'd tell him to find some shade and man up! Second hand smoke is the same as firsthand. Tho even if he just went in the basement by a window it'd be a LOT better than being in the same floor.
Avatar n tn And as to second-hand smoke, please note that insurance companies do not raise rates for clients exposed to second-hand smoke (and remember, they are not in the business of losing money).. They do raise rates for smokers. Next we will hear that second-hand smoke is responsible for volcanic eruptions.
