9663463 tn?1407525554 Even third hand smoke is dangerous, the smell on clothes, the chemicals on his skin and such. I dealt with it with my first pregnancy and I wouldn't let my hubby near me or touch me and he quit after a few months.
2006603 tn?1331329327 There are many risks with second hand smoke exposure even for ppl who are not pregnant. Second hand smoke can cause under developed lungs, increase the chance of sids, low birth weight, baby can develop asthma and a bunch of other things too. Its good your fiance doesn't smoke in the house or around you but he should get into the habbit of not smoking in the car either. The nicotine can settle into the fabrics which is the same as smoking a cigarette while being in the room with the baby.
Avatar f tn No. You can't get high from second hand weed smoke unless someone literally sits there and continuously blows smoke right in your face for countless hours....
Avatar f tn Look if you're that worried about your baby then seriously just stop going over there. Think about it if you will. You either be alone or go to your grandma's where you will inhale second hand smoke which is way worse than smoking itself. It's terrible that your gma is like that but if she is indeed like that then just stop going over there. She obviously doesn't care to stop so just stay home and try to stay occupied. Your babies health is of the utmost importance.
Avatar f tn he want smoke around me. So just look up the facts on second hand smoking then present your facts to your family & let them know your concerns regarding your unborn child.
Avatar n tn t tell they were until this lady literally exhaled the smoke almost in my face as she walked by and I definitely inhaled some second hand smoke -- it was that strong. I literally had to get off the phone and ask them were they serious. I just got a new job and will be expected to take a drug test next week. I normally wouldn't think much of that episode, but am somewhat concerned because I definitely inhaled some of the second hand smoke as they walked by.
1117137 tn?1345227905 i hear you on the second hand smoke, and i used to be a smoker too, i quit the day i found out i was pregnant - and it wasn't hard cuz i had noticed a week before we found out they weren't doing anything for me- and actually making me turn "green" But my husband still smokes... and i can't stand it!!
Avatar f tn We are all low birth weight babies. Smoking was likely the cause. Second hand smoke is just as dangerous, so if avoid it and ask people to step away when they smoke.
Avatar f tn t matter whether it is drugs he is smoking or normal cigarettes - both are dangerous. Second hand smoke does just as much damage to you and your unborn baby as smoking yourself so make sure you're not around him or anyone else smoking anything. Probably a good idea he tried and stops though since he's going to be a dad.
Avatar f tn It is scientifically proven that cigarette smoke, even second hand smoke is very dangerous for the unborn child. Please do the research and make an educated decision about the health of your child.
Avatar f tn Can totally relate. I'm 17 young I know. But even before I got pregnant, I was like this. I hated being around people that smoked and I would hold my breath when I would first smell in like passing someone who was smoking just because of second hand smoke. I wouldn't do it dramatically so they would notice but just for myself. And when I got pregnant it was the same.
Avatar f tn its jus smoking & second hand smoke you jus gotta worry about. more of second hand smoke tho.
1123156 tn?1338863369 Second hand smoke is very dangerous!! Also third hand smoke, which is being in a home that has smokers but they never smoke around you. It is on the coverings of the house and it seeps in the walls etc... My kids never were sick except for when their grandmatoher came to see them and hold them they always got ear infections! I had her change clothes when she got there and wash her face if she was to kiis them and her hands and arms and they never got an ear infection again!
Avatar f tn t date any man who smokes as second hand smoke is just as dangerous as first hand smoke. The smoke also goes into your hair, but I guess you knew that Eve.
Avatar f tn Now that a lot more is known about second-hand smoke, I'm really curious if when I got married to a smoker if that didn't bring on my allergies. Within 1.5 years of being married and living with a smoker, I all of sudden developed severe allergies where I was waking up every 30 minutes because my nose was completely closed up. I became allergic to the world, there's no place I can move to alleviate it.
1601804 tn?1297628981 Yea... slip a pamphlet under their door. But you know in all honesty I doubt that would get them to quit smoking, I'm pretty sure their your typical stubborn smoker so I don't think it will make much of a difference. If I were you I would get a new appartment. You can't get your neighbours to quit smoking if they don't want to, they have to be wanting to quit...
Avatar n tn Ive tried explaining to him that second hand smoke can be just as harmful but he doesnt wanna believe me. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it in his head that its important that he stops? Has anyone been thru a similar situation? How bad is second hand pot smoke?
Avatar f tn My partner still smokes and I get his second hand smoke I tell him not to but he says its hard lol I'm early on in pregnancy like 14 weeks and find it kinda disrespectful at times so I can totally understand where you are coming from hun
Avatar f tn t respect that then I would leave cause if they really cared they would respect you by not smoking in front of you I definitely went thru that with my boyfriend and now the house is smoke free second hand smoke is just as bad as actually smoking and that cuts off alot of your baby's oxygen and you can have a stillbirth just all types of problems can come from smoking! Please try harder that innocent baby deserves it..
Avatar f tn I think its both positive and negative. It teaches the kids the dangers of smoking/second hand smoke and the problems it can cause as well as the result od death. As for the negative, the kids with the smoking patents are now worrying about losing their parent(s) due to the day care. Im an ex smoker myself.
Avatar f tn I think it would be beneficial for both you and your husband to quit smoking. Second hand smoke is just as dangerous and you don' t need to be around it once you are pregnant. Aside from that it's not healthy for a child to be around cigarette smoke either. Talk with your physician about aids to help you quit. But, as KarenDiane said, you have to have a reason that is worth it to you. For me, I quit smoking cold turkey the day after I found out I was pregnant with my second child.
Avatar f tn I smoked weed before I knew I was pregnant, so tht was around 3 to 4 weeks. But now that I have stopped, I can't even deal with the smell. I tell my boyfriend to either go outside or in the bathroom so I can't smell it. My dr told me that second hand smoke is dangerous for the baby especially throughout the first trimester. So I just try to keep it away from me as far as possible. As far as sex after he smokes, I don't see anything wrong with that at all!
