smoking

2006603 tn?1331329327 There are many risks with second hand smoke exposure even for ppl who are not pregnant. Second hand smoke can cause under developed lungs, increase the chance of sids, low birth weight, baby can develop asthma and a bunch of other things too. Its good your fiance doesn't smoke in the house or around you but he should get into the habbit of not smoking in the car either. The nicotine can settle into the fabrics which is the same as smoking a cigarette while being in the room with the baby.
Avatar f tn Look if you're that worried about your baby then seriously just stop going over there. Think about it if you will. You either be alone or go to your grandma's where you will inhale second hand smoke which is way worse than smoking itself. It's terrible that your gma is like that but if she is indeed like that then just stop going over there. She obviously doesn't care to stop so just stay home and try to stay occupied. Your babies health is of the utmost importance.
Avatar f tn he want smoke around me. So just look up the facts on second hand smoking then present your facts to your family & let them know your concerns regarding your unborn child.
Avatar f tn No. You can't get high from second hand weed smoke unless someone literally sits there and continuously blows smoke right in your face for countless hours....
Avatar m tn Some here on the board are not real pleased with the Mayo clinic. It seems they have their own set of standards to give out a dx of MS. I personally know nothing about them and wish you the best....hoping for that answer.
Avatar n tn t tell they were until this lady literally exhaled the smoke almost in my face as she walked by and I definitely inhaled some second hand smoke -- it was that strong. I literally had to get off the phone and ask them were they serious. I just got a new job and will be expected to take a drug test next week. I normally wouldn't think much of that episode, but am somewhat concerned because I definitely inhaled some of the second hand smoke as they walked by.
627388 tn?1222198212 Has anyone from the MS forum ever seek treatment for their MS at the Mayo Clinic? If so, how was your as your experience with physicians from the clinic? I am considering driving up to Mayo at some point if my neurologist in town can't definatively diagnosis me.
Avatar f tn I have just made an appointment for a full work up at the Mayo Clinic, does anyone know the tests involved and how much they charge? Thank you!
582396 tn?1259863489 I am over the moon excited that DH got a 5-10 day appointment at Mayo Clinic - Dec. 10. Anyone have any experiences on what to expect etc?
1264955 tn?1381782221 Has anybody here been to the neurology clinic at the Mayo or in their inpatient pain treatment program?
1117137 tn?1345227905 i hear you on the second hand smoke, and i used to be a smoker too, i quit the day i found out i was pregnant - and it wasn't hard cuz i had noticed a week before we found out they weren't doing anything for me- and actually making me turn "green" But my husband still smokes... and i can't stand it!!
486038 tn?1300063367 I've not been to the Jacksonville Mayo or the MS clinic in Houston, I'm sorry about that. I have heard a lot of good things about the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and Dr. Elliot Frohman who works there. I'm sure if you google his name you can find out much more than I can tell you about, here.
Avatar f tn I recently returned from Mayo Clinic where I was referred by my neurologist because of left hand thumb weakness and atrphy. I received Carpal Tunnel surgery in Feb, thinking this was the problem. I was under the impression that Mayo would try and find anything and everything through testing and not pigeon hole me into ALS immediately. I am going to Northwestern for a second opinion. I am scared to death and so is my family.
Avatar m tn ” The best advice I can give is that you should make an appointment for a thorough evaluation, at a major medical clinic such as the Mayo Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic or the or the local equivalent of those clinics. Keep in mind that while some of what you describe may have a physical basis, some of your symptoms may be an emotional response to the worry of not knowing what is going on in your body.
Avatar f tn its jus smoking & second hand smoke you jus gotta worry about. more of second hand smoke tho.
Avatar m tn m getting depressed and irritated over all of these symptoms with no answers and Mayo Clinic basically told me in the ER yesterday there was nothing else they could do at this point since all the tests are negative. I am on my second Neurologist. MS is apparently now ruled more out then in, and I'm ok with that, but does anyone have any suggestions on where I go from here? Any there any differentials I should be looking into.
Avatar f tn Maybe I was too harsh about Mayo. To be fair to Mayo Clinic, I do think they do have some very good doctors there, maybe it's just hard to get a neuro diagnosis - as it seems to be most other places in this country - so what's new? I did really think the Mayo radiologist who looked at my films was excellent - he found a couple of things the original outside radiologist did not notice such as brain mass loss.
Avatar f tn My new neuro wants to refer me to Mayo Clinic. She thinks this is definitely an autoimmune disease but doesn't think that it is MS due to the intermittent low grade fevers for no apparent reason. I haven't discounted the fact that more than one thing may be going on. Anyway, saw that JH has the big autoimmune disorder research center and wondered, if this is what we're looking at, if it might be the better place to go. Any comments??? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Now that a lot more is known about second-hand smoke, I'm really curious if when I got married to a smoker if that didn't bring on my allergies. Within 1.5 years of being married and living with a smoker, I all of sudden developed severe allergies where I was waking up every 30 minutes because my nose was completely closed up. I became allergic to the world, there's no place I can move to alleviate it.
Avatar m tn Truthfully, I've heard one of the best MS Clinics in the US is the Mellen Center at Cleveland Clinic. You might try checking out http://www.mscare.org They list all the clinics available, etc. My neuro said the clinic at Cincinatti isn't that great but thinks Cleveland Clinic is really good. I've never heard of the Mayo Clinic being highly rated for MS, but more for heart desease.

Avatar m tn ) I was seeing a neurologist outside of Mayo Clinic prior to the MS specialist at mayo and he is the one that referred me to mayo. He openly admitted to not knowing much about MS and felt comfortable with me being examined elsewhere. His diagnosis at the time was gastroparesis, arthritis (which was ruled out with the nerve conduction), an inner ear disorder, and migraines... That happened to all flare up at the same time.....
5189993 tn?1364912157 It is not just a cyst. I do know that much for sure. I have had many many surgeries by many surgeons at Mayo Clinic to have it removed and each time it doesn't go away - actually it continues to progress. Which is one of my concerns regarding having another surgery.
