smoking

2006603 tn?1331329327 There are many risks with second hand smoke exposure even for ppl who are not pregnant. Second hand smoke can cause under developed lungs, increase the chance of sids, low birth weight, baby can develop asthma and a bunch of other things too. Its good your fiance doesn't smoke in the house or around you but he should get into the habbit of not smoking in the car either. The nicotine can settle into the fabrics which is the same as smoking a cigarette while being in the room with the baby.
1117137 tn?1345227905 I live in Illinois and there is a law in place that no one can smoke in a public place so it really cuts down on having to be around the smoke. Although, my mother in law smokes non-stop and I can't stand to be in their house. She is really good not to smoke while we are there, but the smell is still all over us when we leave. It just bugs me most when I have to smell it on my daughter and now that I am pregnant again we will be visiting even less!
Avatar f tn It won't hurt your baby but second hand smoke will be in yours and your baby's system. I used to smoke too with my husband but we both quit for baby because some women have been lucky and it hasn't affected them but some have had problems. So just to be safe I would ask your man to not do it around you. When they say you have to make sacrifices for your baby unfortunately this is one of those things you just shouldn't risk. It's not worth complications with baby.
Avatar f tn he want smoke around me. So just look up the facts on second hand smoking then present your facts to your family & let them know your concerns regarding your unborn child.
Avatar f tn Honestly your grandma sound selfish I would lay down the law because at the end of the day it's all about your baby just tell your grandma that if she has to smoke in the car then you can't drive and if she continues to smoke in the same area as you, you gotta get up and leave that room go outside and get a dehumidifier to help get rid of the smoke just try and stay away from her and her bad habits
Avatar f tn My partner still smokes and I get his second hand smoke I tell him not to but he says its hard lol I'm early on in pregnancy like 14 weeks and find it kinda disrespectful at times so I can totally understand where you are coming from hun
1243620 tn?1274790697 I went to a concert last night and inhaled a lot of second hand pot smoke and I'm sure there was PCP or something in it. (I am straight edge-don't even drink.) My arms went numb, face went numb, I felt confused and scared, couldn't walk right. Then the ground starting moving like oceanwaves and the sky was changing color. I was walking and people were passing up me so fast like I was in a some kind of speeding tunnel.
Avatar n tn t think much of that episode, but am somewhat concerned because I definitely inhaled some of the second hand smoke as they walked by. Any chance this could show up in a test? Since I was exposed to the smoke and felt that I inhaled it, I am trying to figure out how the smoke would not be able to affect a drug test with a false positive. Thoughts?
Avatar f tn I know its there life they can smoke all they want but sometimes it irritates me a little because its my life too and i dont get a say in if i want to smell it or be prisoner to second hand smoke. But if that doesnt kill you something else will, and its just something we got to live with. A lot of people that do smoke are prisoners too. Ive heard many stories on how hard it is for them to stop.
203342 tn?1328737207 I was talking with my quit smoking coach yesterday and she told me this type of smoke (on clothes, in cars) now has a name - third hand smoke which can also be dangerous. Try going to American Cancer Society for more information. I bet they have something on this.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering. Have anybody water broken in public or in unusual places?
Avatar f tn its jus smoking & second hand smoke you jus gotta worry about. more of second hand smoke tho.
Avatar f tn Now that a lot more is known about second-hand smoke, I'm really curious if when I got married to a smoker if that didn't bring on my allergies. Within 1.5 years of being married and living with a smoker, I all of sudden developed severe allergies where I was waking up every 30 minutes because my nose was completely closed up. I became allergic to the world, there's no place I can move to alleviate it.
Avatar n tn Hi, Our 2 year old was just diagnosed with PDD-NOS. We're working with her to increase her words at home (while waiting to hear about our acceptance to an ABA program), but nothing translates to when we go out in public. She just won't speak even if she's comfortable around my husband or me. Why does this happen with kids on the ASD and what can we do to work on it while waiting for therapy? Thanks!
Avatar n tn My bf seen it and how the baby was trying to escape it in the stomach! Now he wont smoke in the car or let me go anywhere that has smoke. But he never smoked in the house in the beginning. He slowed down on his own...i tried not to nag him about it bc i didnt want him to smoke bc i was doing that.
Avatar n tn I recently stopped by a CVS and decided to check my blood pressure. It said it was 159/75! From what I have read online this would be called Isolated Systolic Hypertension. I'm no where near obese though I have gained some weight after stopping a good amount of physical activity (around 10 pounds), But I'm still in a good weight for my height and build. I don't drink or do drugs (the closest thing being second hand smoke from my grandparents), and I'm only 16.
Avatar f tn So, while I support individual rights, I do think people who choose not to smoke should be protected from second hand smoke, etc. And if you are in an apartment building or something, you can smell it walking past doors and in common areas. So I don't know, maybe it's not a bad thing?
Avatar f tn I think its both positive and negative. It teaches the kids the dangers of smoking/second hand smoke and the problems it can cause as well as the result od death. As for the negative, the kids with the smoking patents are now worrying about losing their parent(s) due to the day care. Im an ex smoker myself.
Avatar m tn Hi. Thanks for your response. The Gp has never officially diagnosed anything - she said that my peak flow was low the first time that I attended , so I'm guessing she assumed it was asthma. The second time I went, we discussed post nasal drip as a possible cause. I assume the Gp is going to see if I respond to any of the medications and make an official diagnosis from there?
Avatar m tn Ask her to smoke outside for your and babies sake. Second hand smoke kills blowing smoke out the window is nit effective as 80% of smoke is invisible and does not all go out the window or blows back in. Your baby's health is number one priority and she should understand this. Smoke contributes to asthma..chest infections..ear infections...sids..even death. Your son shouldn't be breathing fumes for candles either as its a carcinogen same as incense sticks.
Avatar n tn Staying in clean air for a few days should allow your body to completely remove what ever you breathed in. But chanced are most things like smoke and fumes are out of you with in a few hours.
Avatar m tn I would also recommend that you stay out of places where smoking is prevalent. Second hand smoke is even worse for you. Take care.
